Other great mangakas with this wild composition is keiichi koike. He was part of cyberpunk manga movement of the 80s.He had only one story published in one issue of Epic illustrated
his work on the symmetrical pages often reminds of a more technical Kirby in regards to the portrayal of techs and machines as well as Steranko in regards to the layout and elements of design. Nice stuff - I'm sol, going to try to get my grubby hands/eyes on this. Thanks.
I wholeheartedly endorse a deep dive into Manga Manga! I'd been working to track down a copy for about 20 years sice I discovered Schodt's writing in the 90s. And even though I'd read a few articles that were basically a précis of the book's content, the full thing is so worth it.
Incredible. I almost felt like I was looking at Pascal Doury on some of those spreads, but it's hard to say who's sicker. And I've had that Schodt book forever; I look forward to your discussion on that one.

Funny how they mention bruce lee but don´t realize that the man with the trident is literally jesus christ. If you want to read something more recent that´s about constant fighting with cool compositions, I´d recommend Kirisuke to Johnny 499-giri
