    I live in Ocala, when it comes to watering mine can take it every other day because I have sandy soil. Good drainage is the key.

    Were the Lila and Brogdon you showed in your farm receiving too much coastal moisture, rain and irrigation? How long did you stake them for? Make the video however you want. People complain about everything.

    You guys need to update your video description! Brevard county is now on zone 10a according to the latest USDA map and people have been able to plant more cold sensitive tropical trees in their yards in the last 10 years.

      Thank you for pointing that out! Yes, Brevard County was previously classified as Zone 9b but is now designated as Zone 10a according to the latest USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map. This change reflects our increasingly warmer winters, which allow for the successful planting of more cold-sensitive tropical trees. We'll make sure to update our video description accordingly. Thank you for your feedback!

    So do I need to check the origin of the store bought avocado before I try to germinate the pit and plant it here (Tampa Bay Area) in the soil? Wonder if Mexican won't grow here vs Florida.

    If I get the right size tree, well I possibly get fruit sooner than 3 years? I heard you can get it the first year if you get the right plant….Also can you air layer once you get a tree established? Thanks!

    I been trying with the Hass and I live in fort Myers Florida, I found that you can get them to grow but it's got to be shady or a greenhouse type of setting

    My tree here in Melbourne FL is about 7 years old. I don't get much fruit. How do I know when they are ripe. Its It's now October. I have a few on my tree now. I need to know when to pull them off please?

    • @RockledgeGardens

      Avocados don't actually ripen all the way while they are on the tree. They have to be picked and left on a counter for 1-2 weeks to change color and ripen all the way. The best way to tell when its time to pick an avocado is when the fruit reaches full size and appears to have stopped growing. The exact size, weight, and season can vary drastically depending on the exact variety of avocado that you have. If you aren't sure what kind it is, I would suggest pulling one of them off when you suspect it might be ready and tasting it before picking the rest. I hope this helps!

    What about North Florida, zone 9a. Which type of avocado should we plant ?

    • @RockledgeGardens

      Most avocados are pretty cold hardy. Check out our printable care guide from this landing page, and we list out all the varieties and their cold tolerance.

    Do you think that avacado in Pensacola Florida will grow. The seeds came from the larger avacado

    • @RockledgeGardens
      @RockledgeGardens  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Although it would be hard to know exactly how cold hardy it is without knowing the exact variety, the larger avocados are typically less cold hardy than those from smaller avocados. Most of the Mexican avocados will survive in Pensacola. The seed you have may survive, but you could run into issues if you get a freeze.

      @@RockledgeGardens good to know I got the avacado from Walmart. I haven't had luck getting seeds from smaller avacados to sprout. The seeds that did sprout were large and kinda soft like it had layers that would peel like an onion

    What’s the maximum spacing required if I were to plant an A & B type avocado trees.

    • @RockledgeGardens
      @RockledgeGardens  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is suggested to plant them within 30 feet of each other for best results, but, insects and pollinators can travel very far distances and it wouldn't be impossible for your avocado tree to be pollinated by a neighbors avocado tree!

    Which month is the avocado tree flowering in south Florida?

    • @RockledgeGardens
      @RockledgeGardens  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the variety. Typically anywhere from August to December.

    You said the all fruit at the same time of the year but did not mention what that time is in Florida. You also did not mention how to fertilize them and when to water them, etc.

    Dude, none of what you said at the start of the video is fact. Just theory. And no, avocado trees wouldn't have gone extinct. Please stop making up stuff.
