Matt, I like using a spinning rod and 6 or 8lb. fluoro. too. What do you think about using braid to a 20' fluoro leader vs straight fluoro in clear water? I find the braid to leader gives me better casting distance, fewer "wind knots" and feel like I can work the bait with less effort due to the lower stretch. I'm sure the straight fluoro eliminates the line visibility vs braid, I don't know if that's an issue when using a 20' leader? Thanks!
I struggle to jerk in a downward motion. I usually just tap the slack to varying degrees to the side instead. Not sure if it’s because I haven’t practiced it, my rod is a little too long for my size, or because I’m rarely on a boat.

Size of the bait. Like 3 hooks are usually 100mm+ and 2 hooks are usually like 70mm-100mm

Yeah it is not as easy as some anglers make it look! If You are fishing from the bank the sideways jerk is one to go too - Jimi
