I worked as a counter jockey in the plumbing industry for years here in Perth, West Oz. and also had a mate who was a plumber, so I learned a lot more than you average Joe behind the counter these days. You folks in Oz have got some truly 'unique' plumbing practices. I've never seen houses plumbed like you guys do it down under. Not saying it's bad, just very different.
Agreed. I've been meaning to ask for a video on Aussie underground drainage practice. Underground stacks, 'boundary traps', solvent joints used undergound (as opposed to rubber ring seal) and the like are very different to here in the UK.
Try watching the drain guys from the UK and tell me what you think of their drainage. Utterly incomprehensible. Outside piping, sewage and drains leading to open gullies... a bit worse than how it's done in Aussieland.

I imagine that Olly and.... er.... the other one has to have an outside opening separate bathroom and washer for their kit, which I imagine needs washing daily away from their families and household bathroom. Perhaps the owners had similar jobs? If I lived in Sydney I’d be keen for an outside shower too I think!
Actually very common in South Florida for one of the bathrooms to have a door that opens to the back patio area, especially if there is a pool. This way when a party is going on or people in the pool need to use the bathroom they don't have to go through the house. This is especially useful during a pool party so people don't drip pool water in the house.
The “know-it-all” house owner can’t have been only fun to have hanging over your shoulder the whole time. 😁 But of course - very good guide regarding all the weird and hidden places they had man holes/ access points to pipes - why plan piping the practical and structured way when you can plan it the most difficult and spread. 😊
What do you use on the old pipes? Or is the earth so compacted around them it doesn't matter if the high pressure hose breaks them? Do you have softer stuff you use for older pipes?
