    Great point about the molds being locked away because of the crowdfund format. Had not thought as much about that.
    Also, while I sympathize with employees and don’t think anyone should be roasted for the actions of their employer (now, roasting them for their own actions may be different), I lose zero sleep worrying about how mega-large companies manage their risk on products. I think anyone who has worked at a big company understands that efforts like crowdfunds at a large company are all about offsetting risk and creating a marketing beat. That is not saying the toys that come out of it are not good, but the crowdfund itself is not a value-add for consumers

      Michael on Retroblasting has been saying this for years. Mattel/Hasbro just uses this as a reference for how much they can push the price for "big ticket" items. If it doesn't get funded, they don't have to make it and it helps to gauge future offers.

    Totally agree with everything!! Someone needs to call Hasbro out every time they make stupid decisions which let's be honest has been a lot here lately. If we all just ignore what their doing and just praise them even when they don't deserve it, then things will continue the way they are OR even get worse. As collectors, we have to take a stand when we see these companies making dumb decisions because it affects us. Keep speaking your mind and calling out bad decisions!👍🏽

    Damn right you tell em Ninja. Coming from someone who is backing this---no way this should've been crowdfunded. I really like the character of Giant Man and wanted a good figure but he's not a dream project by any stretch of the imagination. It very easily could've been a Pulse exclusive and I absolutely hate that I have to back a crowdfund to get this. This was just an easy win in Hasbro's mind after the EOV, that's why we are seeing this crowdfunded. Even when I had heard this was going to be crowdfunded and at $200, I thought it would've at least come with a 6in version of the character, but nope just Giant Man and some pointless face plates and undesirable tiers. Also shout out to Rollie Pollie Ollie. Loved that show as a kid 😂😂

      I'm not backing it cause I'm not a big Giant Man fan (plus I have the BAF), but totally get why you would if you are a huge fan, especially if you don't have the ToyBiz one. So happy for you that something you really want is coming to fruition, but obviously sucks with the way you have to get it. And absolutely it should've come with a smaller version, a tiny (10 cent to make) Wasp, maybe something like a telephone pole for them to hold with those articulated finger hands, just basic shit that we'd all want and expect for something that's $200.
      I mean I want this thing to back because you like some others really want it, but I hope it just _barely_ makes it. Although I don't see that remotely sending a message to hasbro in regards to what they continue to do is appalling to us collectors. More and more I'm focusing on little pieces of art, and not cheap gummy plastic overpriced toys.

    • @therealivydawg
      @therealivydawg ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @Mvargo97
      @Mvargo97 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@therealivydawg I’ve never had an issue trying to get Pulse exclusives, but that’s just my personal experience, it could very well differ per person. As to quantity-if 10,000 is the magic number that they need to have to fund it why not have that number as the number for the exclusive?

    • @mrdude88
      @mrdude88 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m thinking the reason why this figure is crowdfund is because they don’t want this $200 figure to be loose in the wild and eventually drop in price because stores needs to get it off their shelves. Because it required to be backed, they will only make enough for those that backed it. Hasbro cannot let the community have a win on a large product.

    Just yesterday Hasbro Pulse put a $200 Transformer up for preorder. Giant-Man didn't need to be crowdfunded. I don't think Hasbro is greenlighting the more interesting projects that would actually need crowdfunding because they are chasing even bigger profit margins. This Haslab is a softball choice to get more money in the door and to give the Marvel team a win after the EoV. It is a bit overpriced, gotta pay the Hasbro tax. Giant-Man isn't for me, but I hope everyone who wants one can get one

    • @happybuttersblast8334
      @happybuttersblast8334 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hasbro owns transformers........ they have to give 20% of this 199.99$ so 40$ goes straight to Disney for each figure sold.

    • @FrankW1029
      @FrankW1029 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@happybuttersblast8334 that's literally not how that works. royalty is a % of NET profit, not Gross. If Hasbro makes/reports $60 profit per figure on this and if royalty is 20%, Disney takes $12, the rest of the NET $48 still goes to Hasbro. YES, Disney gets paid, but not by the amount of money Hasbro & fan boys claims they make. Even if Disney royalty is 30% that still leaves Hasbro $42 in NET profit. The percentage increase in retail $$ doesn't match the % increase in royalty.

But also then again why is marvel legends different? Because if like you said is true every marvel legends sold they would have to give Disney 40$ each as mostly marvel legends cost 25-40$ so like you said doesn't make sense to me at all unless these legends get sold in big groups then I have no idea what you mean.

    You make 100% ! It's like these companies want more $$$ and actually do less. Shit...EVERYBODY that pre ordered a retro beast from Hasbro @BBTS are actually STILL waiting on that release and they are steady releasing others and onto another crowd funded project. It's NUTS.

Companies, shows, movies, whatever it is, some people are just so invested in loving or hating something that it's just sad.

My problem with the size is that traditionally he's always been shown closer to 12' to 16' tall - rarely has he been shown growing larger than that. In vintage team drawings of the Avengers, he was always around 12'. I photoshopped the pic of him next to Cap and he looks far better at 12" (Super-Adaptoid size) to me. I'd have preferred a Pulse exclusive of a 12" Giant Man for $50 or $60 and use the Haslab to make a Galactus-sized Eternity or the Watcher. Far more exciting and far better scaled. Or even a Galactus-sized Stranger. Giant Man looks too big to me, he looks off-scale and just isn't a character that "wows!" me.

However, I still might back this project simply because I’m liking this figure more and more.
    That’s the beauty, right? Like you said we can disagree but ultimately we each can make our own choices as it pertains to our own dollars spent. For me, I may end up having to pass on Giant Man because I already backed the Star Wars Ghost and I also want Valaverse’s truck (which sounds to be going in a crowd fund direction).

    No one, and I mean no one, should be supporting a large company running crowdfunding. Crowdfunding was literally started to help small business individuals bring an idea to the table without having to sell out to big corps like hasbro. The only reason hasbro is doing it is to make a profit without taking a risk. If it wasn't, they could easily do the crowfund and not take payment until it ships. Instead, they take your $$ and sit on it for a year while it draws interest to fund other ventures.

    Hasbro is looking out for themselves and minimizing their risks as much as possible including shifting all the risks on to their customers.
    Fans, collectors, and customers need to look out for themselves and not take on unnecessary risks.
    Hasbro, with thousands of employees and professionals, is able to handle the risks of manufacturing, marketing, and distribution.
    Fans, collectors, and customers should not be taking on all the upfront risks of these "crowd funded" projects.

    The Giant Man body mold can be re-used many times like a regular action figure body mold.
    There are dozens of giant sized characters that would use the same body with a few modifications like a regualr action figure.

    • @Chalor.
      @Chalor. ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally don't mean this like I disagree with you at all, but I'd love to hear some examples of large characters that could utilize this body. As an OG comic fan, I just can't think of any off the top of my head.

      @@Chalor. The Giant Man they've shown is just one of the Giant Man costumes Hank Pym has worn.
      Hank Pym had at least one other Giant Man costume.
      Hank Pym also used the name Goliath with another costume.
      Hank Pym also became a giant in a red jump suit.
      Hank Pym had an outfit in the 90s with bare arms.
      Hawkeye was a giant for a while using the Giant Man or Goliath name.
      Bill Foster went by the name Black Goliath and Goliath, and had at least three different costumes.
      The Shi'ar Imperial Guard has Titan with at least one costume
      There was a bad guy Goliath who also used the good guy name Atlas.
      There was a character named Super-Nova who was a giant.
      Earth Lord was a giant.
      There is the MCU Ant-Man/Giant Man that Articulated Ninja was talking about.
      Tower was an Alliance of Evil Mutants member and he was a giant.
      There was a giant mutant in the Earth X comic book series.
      The Frost Giants are giants.
      Raz? a comedic giant man character.
      Gigantus was an evil giant man.
      Maybe another Giant Man, Titan, Gigantus, Goliath, Gigantor character with a white body suit and a black hood/face mask.
      These are the characters I can think of off the top of my head.
      They would share many, if not all, of the body parts used to make this HasLab Giant Man figure.

    I will never understand for the life of me, why anyone would die on the hill of defending a billion dollar corporation using a crowd fund to make a product. If they’re worried about making the right amount of units, open a pre order, and make it to order. Simple. Every toy company does it, don’t know why the biggest one gets a pass 🤷🏿‍♂️

    A few thoughts on Giant Man and Hasbro more broadly:
    •An 12 to 18 inch Giant Man would have scaled better and could have sold quite easily at retail.
    •I have yet to go in on any Haslab. If I had been able to afford it at the time I may have gone in on the Sentinel. If the Ghostbusters Haslab had been a 1/12 scale screen accurate Ecto-1 from the first film instead of part of a proton pack, I'd have backed that.
    •Hasbro absolutely sucks at keeping army builders available. The Skrulls and Hellfire Club goons being excellent examples of this.
    •I would've preferred it had the Sentinel not been crowd funded and was still available for purchase direct from Hasbro.
    •Hasbro's greed is an excellent reminder of why corporations suck.

    One of the best things that ever happened to the toy collecting community was Hasbro firing Bobby Vala. The man EXPOSED the industry AND the bootlickers that spent YEARS trying to convince Hasbro to USE THEM as free marketing. Honestly the Hasbro toytuber shills are the most embarrassing collectors in the community. We all get to watch them hoe themselves out to Hasbro FOR FREE and they can’t do it fast enough for them. Notice how Hasbro has given NOBODY an early review sample in YEARS because they don’t want the backlash anymore. Yet these shills STILL can’t help but lick that boot because they want daddy Hasbro to keep giving them pats on the head.

    Ninja and Bobby are correct in their comments and accessment of this week attempt by the legends team! There is literally no paint on his undersized Giant Man its all molded plastic typical hasbro legends. I say undersized because the largest Sentinel is 47 ft tall and Giant Man is 60-100 ft tall unless you're gonna go with this standard height of 25 ft this is tiny. The black harness is innacurate to the source material also, he should have black lines connection to a big black circle on his chest and then one black line running down. This is not his original 1st costume it resembles his 3rd costume but had individual blue stripes like the toybiz baf. They based their prices on the ebay baf prices which have now dropped to below $200 since this offer now they run $159- $199! Its a good figure, not great and the offer is weak and it's still overpriced as hasbro legends team tries to milk every dollar from the consumer they can. If you want it buy it if not don't! In the end its an action figure not a major life decision!!!

    I agree with everything you said. This figure alone is 89.99 or less with the extra faceplate. Also you hit a good point about locking away molds, that alone is some serious BS from hasbro. We should just stop funding all the haslab offerings, the good ones and the bad ones. To make them stop this. If they are worried about only making enough to cover the need, then put up preorders and move forward.

If someone can't understand that you can both love something and also be critical about it at the same time, they've obviously never been in a serious relationship. The truth hurts and we need a voice that is bigger than ours to bark when something ain't right and let it be known that we're not happy and we want change. Why?
    The view who are against, why bother to explain yourself for everything you say...just say it..at least 90% likes it and you know in the real world you can't be friends with everybody and this 10%..you can't change them. Appreciate the fact that you keep it real on this channel and aren’t scared of sharing your opinion without hating on the people you disagree with. Most people on the internet aren’t mature enough to do that and try to directly attack the people who have a minor difference in a opinion then them. I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again, we need people like you in the community who aren’t afraid defend the customers and tell it how it is, to call out HASBRO, their shills, and the people who claim anything less than praise is toxic negativity and if you don’t have positive things to say you should speak. Can't talk about space either because they could sell it at online retail stores like BBTS, Entertainment Earth, and etc. I could understand if it came with a matching Ant Man figure and a Yellow Jacket figure. They could have also done the clear piece to show him growing in size. But if it's a dream project why not give a Super Star Destroyer or a Death Star. As far Marvel I would rather have a 1/6 scale X Man Blackbird.
