The Maybach Exelero is a one-off high-performance sports car made by Stola (now part of Blutec) in collaboration with Daimler Chrysler. And now it is called the Stola Phalcon coupe. Look it up. So, there are at least two cars that are basically the same car with some "minor" modifications. Look it up. It is a yellow questionable front but still looks pretty cool.

Just to park it in your garage until you have it delivered to a super elite car show for it to sit in the grass for a few hours before being loaded back on a trailer and returned to your garage. And the cost of that day would be in the realm of the average salary of most humans. This is why people hate the rich. The money they spend is just ridiculous while they then tell their employees that the current market is too unstable to give cost of living increases.
It is so f'ing stupid to put up with this presumed privilege. If these cars are designed to almost never be driven BELOW most maximum speed limits, then the owners have a sense that they are above all rules of the road. Public safety be damned. They have the right to drive to THEIR limits. The public roads were never intended for such play-toys that threaten the lives of everyday citizens. To put 200+ mph cars on an interstate invites the idiots behind their wheels to put all of the travelers at risk.
there's probably a 6th car that they had to give to some federal agency to crash with test dummies to determine its safety and make it road legal.

Even if I had the money I dont think I'd care for one of these, or wouldn't keep it for long.
The futuristic Hot wheels look is so played out for me, I'd rather have a pre 70s classic exotic if anything.
So, there are folks sitting around, lounging, who have hundreds of millions of dollars...or they worked hard for it, something like that. Now, they want to spend $10M on a car? Why not? Those millions go right back into the economy of the world, motivate engineers to new heights, employ probably thousands and thousands of people. Win win IMO. Awesome cars.

In the 80' and 90' the supercar concept still made sense. It was the race of several brands to achieve the ultimate street legal sports car.
In 2022 the concept itself is completely outdated. The performance in numbers of any of those toys is just unrealistic for normal use. Also, they are all petrol based.
Since performance is not a problem anymore, they only compete about the most extravagant design (which is lame imo).
These are only useless and outdated super rich people´s toys.
In the era of electric cars, street performance goes down and comfort/practicality goes up.

When you have spent the money the owners did in obtaining these cars, the owners feel entitled to use them as they see fit, which can include going three times the posted highway speed limit. This is not a new phenomenon, idiots have always claimed the highways as their personal playground. My friend Kevin had just purchased a moped and was enjoying a spectacular day on a rural highway in the rolling hills of central Iowa. Traffic on this highway was limited to the locals as there was a more modern highway 1 mile to the south. On this unfortunate morning, two farmboys needed to know which of their built up muscle cars was faster, so they did what fools have done for ages; they had a drag race, on that morning, on that highway and just over one of these glorious rolling hills, one of them drove right through the boy on the moped, killing Kevin in an instant. He was 15 years old. This happened when I was 15. That was 53 years ago, the concept of ever increasing horsepower and speed can have devastating results.

None of the vehicles portrayed in the video would be used for going to a supermarket or back and forth to the office, that is to say, 'normal use' - certainly not on a regular basis.
Most genuine super car owners don't use their vehicles for drag races or drive in an unduly dangerous manner on public roads. You refer to 'two farm boys... with built up muscle cars'. They were young and very foolish, but this cannot be compared to individuals who purchase Ferraris, Lamborghinis and the like who are usually older, and for the most part have more sense and behave responsibly.
The death of your friend was a tragedy brought on by two foolhardy young people who didn't have the means to purchase genuine super cars and resorted to modifying existing cars. This is common the world over, and often results in accidents and tragedy due to such vehicles not complying with safety standards or being overpowered and therefore unsafe.
I realise your friend's death has influenced your viewpoints, and that is understandable, but you are wrong to categorise all owners of fast cars and genuine super cars in the same manner.

C) Let me disabuse you of any notion that the owners of these vehicles somehow possess extraordinary driving skills, they do not! In my city in SO. FLA, a husband and wife went to dinner, after this dinner they left in the two vehicles they arrived, he in his Porsche and she in her Lamborghini. They decided to drag race on a city street and a very few blocks later, they collided with an 83 year old man that was Ubering in his Prius, ending this gentleman's life. A casual look at any of the dashcam footage out there reveals the true nature of some of the owners of exotic cars, virtually to a person -assholes on the road. Just another example, an owner of the most beastly super car on the road, Porsche Carrera GT offers Paul Walker a ride in this car. Was the driver of this top, top shelf vehicle ever made, driving with caution and respect for others? No, seconds later both are dead. D) You can play out your James Bond fantasy any way you chose, it's your life. But don't think you can trump physics, ever, the faster you go, the more at risk you will be and you place those that happen to be on a PUBLIC roadway at a greater risk as well. P.S. When I referred to the farm boys, these were adult men, early 20s.

@@matthew4107 I think that by saying he's too practical, he doesn't mean it would hurt his pocket. It's just that those cars are meant for the track or for flexing and if you don't enjoy either then it just isn't fun to drive a car that cant go over a curb or a speed bump at a normal speed and that needs to stop at a gas station thrice as often as a typical car on a longer trip. The seats are not comfortable, the suspension is stiff as a brick and if you're a tall person then no roof and wind in hair is the only half-comfortable option to even consider.
Not to say that I wouldn't want any of those cars, i just totally see his point.
Some of them don't have much better performance than cars that are 1/2-1/5 their cost and probably repair and maintenance costs are proportionally way higher too, so I'd rather have a car that can be taken to a race track without that worrying thought in the back of my head. I know if I was a billionaire that wouldn't be much in monetary terms and it would be fully paid in just one month or so but it really isn't something that you don't get used to in the end, I'd still be flying on private jets to Maldives and the car isn't coming with me, won't take it to places I need to be, that's what my Taycan is for, and if going to my own private island I'd take a yacht that looks like a yacht and not one that looks like a car.

This is built for cruising in opulent luxury, not all out speed
