To be true I don’t want a game with “too many zombies” but a game with just enough for them to be a threat and personally Project zombiod did a amazing job on bringing that and from the looks of it Dread Dawn had a little too much so I’m hoping the devs will make a mode where you can play with fewer zombies. (I don’t want the game to be too focused about killing zombies and running away 24/7 but rather want the “Survive in the dead city”look for rations and accommodations and stuff like that)
A lil' warning that this game looks hella suspicious, several people on Steam claim the game opens something in the background and a lot of them can't uninstall the game without uninstalling something called ZC.exe, the company that made this game is Chinese and literally came out of nowhere, the devs did make an also suspicious reponse to these accusations but it doesn't help that they later on deleted it, also, the weird as hell banners in the school were made via AI and it's not even indicated anywhere. Personally? I'd stick with Project Zomboid on this one, while it might be paid, atleast you don't take the risk of downloading a potential malware.
I used Sandboxie with the game. It's not a fully ready product, and it's only been released as a demo from what I know so far. The game seems to have several other names - likely because of improper translation or that they were indecisive with the name. Regardless, it's not really malware, it's just badly coded. First off, it seems like it tries to turn on high performance mode in power options, which is indeed interesting, but I don't think they planned that to be malicious. The game also remaining in background is also most likely because it does not close properly. All in all, not a final product, not that great, but it does look interesting and I hope something great is made with that concept, even with all these "errs" that appeared since the release of the demo. I just hope I was right in my judgement and that this was not something malicious meant to harm people's computers.
i played the demo... during the time when you go to the city to find someone... it's very chaotic there was one instance that the an npc who had a gun(you cannot talk to him though) just blasting then later a car exploded spawn a butt load of zombies swarming me and the guy who just blasting any zombies there are npcs just running and escaping from zombies locked door with npcs' inside later some got swarmed i don't know if its scripted or not but it feels not scripted but it just feel immersive btw when you access a computer it's a LEGIT working Internet Browser i kid you not. then later the zombie defense section it feels like those tower defense you play on the phone create a long winding corridor the melee is just janky i don't understand if its the hitbox or i need to aim with my crosshair it got potential
Post-Demo Thoughts +3 / -3 / =3 from steam Pro's: - The NPC's spread throughout the world make it feel alive unlike most zombie games. - The ability to loot just about any object is nice, unlike many games that have artificial scarcity. - The story driven element is a nice touch, most zombie games just drop the player into the world like a sandbox. Con's: - The hit boxes on enemies when using weapons or shooting is not very clear. - The Demo's building system was very bare bones, expected but still disappointing. - It would be nice if the U.I. better explained how to open menu's instead of having to read through the control options, Preferences: - I can't say I am a fan of durability systems since they are just time wasters, a option to play the game without it would be greatly preferred. - It would be nice if the hunger system was simplified. As in, you just need to have X amount of food in a base food storage. Like a colony sim, the game would let you know how much food you need per week based on how many survivors you have instead of having to micro-manage survivors. - The ability to have survivors go out and gather supplies for you from zones already explored would also be very nice. So you don't have to run back and forth carrying supplies which could just be handled by the NPCs.

@@STRYKER1467 yeah got banned after 15 hours of posting this in the forum, they also banned those who criticize their dialog and story telling. Im having poor expectation for the future development of this game because they cant take criticism😔
A crowbar is the best first option as it offers not just its use as a weapoj but also can use it to break in or break out of a room ,imagine you are at the start and then have a horde come in and steamroll everyone you go to run only to find a loked door at the far end. Everyone without a crowbar or and axe(though it wouldnt be that efective against a steel door ) would have no chance of escaping in time. Later on you want something like a machete since its small enough to swing indoors and it wont get stuck in the zombies head like a axe will, going back to why the axe isnt my first pick.
This 2D, fast huge horde, run and gun style is more comparable to The last stand: Union City by Con Artist, with the upgrade of being able to move up and down instead of just sideway. Looks pretty cool!
you saying oh more money made me laugh because it reminded me of peter trapping james woods in family guy, him folowing a line of candy and everytime he spots one he goes oh a peice of candy.
I think in the beginning, the most likely reason for all of the mats on the ice, tents, and destruction before the zombies is probably just a pre release thing and they will add a transition later.
I personally would stay put at home. 🤷🏾♂️. I thimk it's personally fine to be still be evacuating people over 30 days. I would have stayed put at the school if it was secure. Clearly it wasn't tho. It's generally always best in these kind of end state scenarios to not trust any governmental organised plan, the reason being you are simply a liability for military or federalised police forces and to simply go your own way. You're just another mouth to feed, another person liable to becoming sick amongst a crowd of people exactly the same as you. For anyone crying that I'm wrong look at how federal authorities handled Katrina - no better example as that. 1. Stick with your family. 2. Have a plan. 3. Do not trust anyone else.
First melee weapon would be a maul with a 4lb head. Blunt weapons are easier to use and more effective at inflicting head trauma, and with a lighter head it wouldn’t tire you out so quick.
Weapon would be a good club, like a nice round mace. Something to break skulls, not get stuck, and easy to use. Tool would be a crowbar. Get's you in homes to loot, can be used 100 ways and as a weapon in a pinch. Then probably crossbow. Somewhat recoverable ammo, and best of all quiet.
Wow, if they had this kind of Half Life style 'My life was this way and now it is that way' intro in Project Zomboids open ended open world game, it'd be like the perfect zombie game. All zomboid is missing is some narrative structure. Just enough to not destroy the feeling.

I would pay an arm and a leg for an isometric college simulator game set in a uni like the one in the start of the video, that's really an untapped niche in the vidya market, we only have what? Bully and persona for decent school life sims
Ranged? An overcharged paintball gun might work if you use lead balls. You can shoot and carry a lot of ammo and recharging the gun can be done with a solar-powered compressor. It depends on how tough zombie skulls are (and if it requires headshots to kill them). Barring that, a .22LR rifle isn't bad for non--CQC. The ammo is super-plentiful, you can again carry a lot, and it's surprisingly long-range - not that I can reliably hit things beyond 10m. A close-up weapon would be one of the chunky calibers with (hopefully) hollow-point ammo. .357, 10mm, .40 calier, or .45ACP. That last one was technically made for zombies after a fashion. The army switched from a .38 round to the .45ACP in the Colt 1911 during the Phillipines war. The Moro combatants did not have much in the way of firearms. They did, however, have tight cloth wraps and a local combat drug. The combination meant that a Moro warrior could run up on a trench while taking fire and still engage in melee combat for a bit before dying. The heavier, and slower, .45ACP round transferred most of its force into the person it hit, shattering bones, pulping muscles, and knocking the opponent down. If zombification relies on the presence of tissues to animate, blowing chunks out of a zombie will reduce its ability to threaten even without a headshot. Melee? My favorite antizombie melee weapon is a trained buddy with some kind of polearm, even a crutch will do. Half the time, their job would be to keep approaching zombies shoved back and knocking the zombie we're targeting down. The other job would be to use whatever skull-breaking weapon we can swing to, well, break the skulls of downed zombies. Task switches would happen regularly to reduce fatigue. This tactic really only works best when your fighters are only outnumbered 3-4/1 at any given time, but it should work.
IDk dude this one is still a bit rough for some reason, also I find the world/items/menus on PZ more clear than this one.. combat somehow seems more dauting than PZ, I dont really like much the story or art so far, im not sure why tbh... PZ models after the big update actually looks similar to this.. also is not a good sign if your PZ killer makes you think about playing PZ, that run to the pointer stuff is a no go for me, and the tiger noises... That said, I hope it does well and gets better
It could have been but I don't think so. I played it for a bit, wasn't too happy that you have to play as a premade character who respawns if killed. In Project Zomboid, you create your character and if you're killed, you're dead, you make a new character you can find your dead character as a zombie or corpse, you can make as many characters as you wish, kill them off, populate your world as you want, explore the aftermath with a new character, that is what is great about PZ. I can't look at other zombie survival games anymore, especially if you respawn instead of being dead permanently. Other zombie games need to take notes from PZ. This game right here has potential, it just needs some tweaks.
Also when you stoped fighting the zombies was a pretty good idea if you would also use the fuking shove option and killing the one or two zombies that kept chasing you even after you lost most of the horse. At the end the sprinter basically got a free meal out of you cuz you just ran like headless chicken, thats on you not the game.
okay ngl this game beats zomboid in graphics and animations and its smooth also at the same time it has the acrade feeling that can make you play it multiple times, but when it comes to realism nothing beats zomboid, just imagine if zomboid just gets this type of graphics and animations with all the content and of course the npcs this game has.
@@itmightbecool1478 I think so too, if we talk about "realism" and the absurd amount of details, clearly PZ still have way more, but this game looks interesting, I'd want to play the full ver
It dependes on what kind zombies you have to deal with. If they slow walkers like in TWD I would choose a small axe, if they were fast zmobies then i would most likely use my Cold Steel Tanto and connect it to some solid steel pipe to make something like spear, even keeping a relative distance in this situation can increase the chance of survival. Later on if it was possible to get a firearm then the most optimal choice would be pump-action shotgin or a bolt-action rifle/

The freaking school already looks post apocalyptic or so even before the zeds arrived there, what is up with the tiles and such as well as litter everywhere? At least the dorms are clean enough I suppose so.
Zomboid is great, but it is very vague. Some may see it as a strength, and it does allow you to really use your imagination, but no matter what you choose as your career you always just start in one of a few RNG locations, with no setting or story for your character. If you selected fast food chef, and now you start in a fast food joint, wearing a server's uniform, with a few NPCs alive and eating right as the zombies start coming, then it'd give your character's story a firm immersive root in the world. And to their story. Do you grab a knife and start trying to help people? Do you succeed and the burger joint + the customers and your boss become your first safe home and group?? Or do you run out the back door and run for your life? Do you kill your boss???? Steal his sports car keys and drive as far away as possible?? It could also use more endgamey sorts of things. Like what if you could find a military radio, and call in the military? And after a while, the army rolls in to try to kill all the zombies?

To be true I don’t want a game with “too many zombies” but a game with just enough for them to be a threat and personally Project zombiod did a amazing job on bringing that and from the looks of it Dread Dawn had a little too much so I’m hoping the devs will make a mode where you can play with fewer zombies.
(I don’t want the game to be too focused about killing zombies and running away 24/7 but rather want the “Survive in the dead city”look for rations and accommodations and stuff like that)

Yeah, because Zomboid is almost 12 years and this game is not even 1 year, so yeah, "For Now" is a great assessment.

Still remember playing that in armorgames and being the top 1 most played game
🟥🕵
not to mention this game uses a bunch of AI assets.
Dang Raptor, you straight up pulled the "You don't gotta be fast, you just gotta be faster than the slowest guy" to your friend.
Slowest guy is also strong enough holding your leg long enough for double KO.
He also died more times than the "Fatty."
i played the demo...
during the time when you go to the city to find someone...
it's very chaotic
there was one instance that the an npc who had a gun(you cannot talk to him though) just blasting then later a car exploded spawn a butt load of zombies swarming me and the guy who just blasting any zombies
there are npcs just running and escaping from zombies locked door with npcs' inside
later some got swarmed
i don't know if its scripted or not but it feels not scripted but it just feel immersive
btw when you access a computer it's a LEGIT working Internet Browser i kid you not.
then later the zombie defense section it feels like those tower defense you play on the phone create a long winding corridor
the melee is just janky i don't understand if its the hitbox or i need to aim with my crosshair
it got potential
Post-Demo Thoughts +3 / -3 / =3 from steam
Pro's:
- The NPC's spread throughout the world make it feel alive unlike most zombie games.
- The ability to loot just about any object is nice, unlike many games that have artificial scarcity.
- The story driven element is a nice touch, most zombie games just drop the player into the world like a sandbox.
Con's:
- The hit boxes on enemies when using weapons or shooting is not very clear.
- The Demo's building system was very bare bones, expected but still disappointing.
- It would be nice if the U.I. better explained how to open menu's instead of having to read through the control options,
Preferences:
- I can't say I am a fan of durability systems since they are just time wasters, a option to play the game without it would be greatly preferred.
They banned you out of their forum for the negative criticism right ? I was looking for some sort of review recently. From what ive heard they ban those who leave behind any sort of negative-ish inspired criticism, especially if its not written in chinese.

Zomboid if it was a bad flash game with no soul:
Oh wow yeah it does have that old flash-site vibe to it. I actually miss those games.
How many zombie games and movies must you have watched, and you raise the question... "How has it taken 30 days to get everyone the hell outta here?"
Hmm, interesting.
15:44 I don't know, go to an evacuation zone? My first weapon of choice would be a makeshift spear.
25:02 hey! it's Claire Redfield
its gotta be hella optimized to be able to run all of those zombies
The writing is "AI-nese".
I think in the beginning, the most likely reason for all of the mats on the ice, tents, and destruction before the zombies is probably just a pre release thing and they will add a transition later.
hope when this game comes out it has coop cause this looks like a lot of fun with friends
Zomboid will always be a gem

Wow xD more games to buy! Raptor previews always good. I always end up buying those games
I personally would stay put at home. 🤷🏾♂️. I thimk it's personally fine to be still be evacuating people over 30 days. I would have stayed put at the school if it was secure. Clearly it wasn't tho. But yeah i would stay home where i already have things i would need plus my neighborhood isn't that densely populated.
Why does everything look so rundown before the outbreak even starts?
Well, if the game was set in Detroit, it'd look normal lmao.
Maybe they couldn’t make enough assets lol
The outbreak most likely happened far away originally and only just reached the setting of the game.
They are in the school because of the outbreak dude

First melee weapon would be a maul with a 4lb head. Blunt weapons are easier to use and more effective at inflicting head trauma, and with a lighter head it wouldn’t tire you out so quick.
The Knox Event did spread worldwide.
Zomboid killer? Doubt it but, could it find some success? Perhaps
This is like that game called Postal but updated and all about the zombies now..Looks really good. 💯💛👍
i really love the background art pieces - like some of it is static 2d
It looks like an arcade, lighter and more grounded version of PZ, without such a large map, vehicles and complicated mechanics.
The atmosphere is amazing. Weapon of choice 2 machete and a full body hockey gear Jason style.
I really love how this game start and have some story in it we want story mode for project zomboid
Mac-10.
Quickly take care of a small number, lightweight to move quick with after firing, and tons of ammo in the clips.
This looks like something out of newgrounds while Zomboid looks like a polished game with +10 years of work in it (because it has).
This is like when Zombie HQ and Zomboid combined to make this game.
Wow, if they had this kind of Half Life style 'My life was this way and now it is that way' intro in Project Zomboids open ended open world game, it'd be like the perfect zombie game. All zomboid is missing is some narrative structure. Just enough to not destroy the feeling.

This is a hack 'n slash arcade, Zomboid is a simulator. You can't compare games from different genres, what you can compare are the personal experience each game left in YOU, and wich game suits best for YOU.
Actually it's more of a tower defense game. It's pretty hard to emphasize it on hack n slash as the numbers of zombies will overwhelm you. 😊
State of decay possibly the only zombie game that can hold a candle ip to Project Zomboid..
Dread dawn looks fun and super addictive. Hope it's controller friendly

its more like last stand than project zomboid.
The umbrellas all have a very specific color scheme. Reminds me of something.
The only thing that Project Zomboid is missing to be the best zombie game ever is the return of NPC, and build 43 will bring them back maybe in one year. :)

If you can clear out the zombies from an area without them popping into existence in your cleared area then it might be ok. Except the spyware.
this one seems more like a shooter/tower defense, while Zomboid is an absolute ball stompingly dreadful survival where each day you stray further from god.
Kinda gives me childhood nostalgia of The Last Stand : Union City
very interesting character rendering for a 2d-ish background
I'm not a huge fan of the fact that a lot of the assets look very AI generated, like you can easily tell from the test in the posters that it's AI.
My melee weapon would prolly be a metal bat covered in wire, and my range would prolly be a shotgun with a Deagle for the side piece
The Steam release trailer ends at 2:33.
Project zomboid is a great game. one of the best games of all time. but this game has some potential. its kinda like prison architect with zombies.
That said, I hope it does well and gets better
im literally screaming at him to protect chubby boi 😭😭
Fatty is the main character, he not only did the most kills but he somehow dodged bullets too. He has more plot armour than you 😂
Also when you stoped fighting the zombies was a pretty good idea if you would also use the fuking shove option and killing the one or two zombies that kept chasing you even after you lost most of the horse. At the end the sprinter basically got a free meal out of you cuz you just ran like headless chicken, thats on you not the game.
Yeah he was running out of time and didn't care
The reason why the place looked so dystopian even before the zombie outbreak is because this game's events happen in Detroit.
39:23
-"You're going to die soon!"
Fatty: "Good." **dodges bullets**
okay ngl this game beats zomboid in graphics and animations and its smooth also at the same time it has the acrade feeling that can make you play it multiple times, but when it comes to realism nothing beats zomboid, just imagine if zomboid just gets this type of graphics and animations with all the content and of course the npcs this game has.

Later on if it was possible to get a firearm then the most optimal choice would be pump-action shotgin or a bolt-action rifle/
with 42 in testing phase the game max zombies are supposed to be upped when it comes up from reading news.
build 42 for project zomboid?
@@app_manifestation yeah i was talking about zomboid, i read in a dev post they want to up the number an cull less meaning you will see more in optimizations once the 42 build is out due to the gpu handling more processes, right now they have more then a million monsters on map but cull at 500 so you do not need to suffer an mess with configs for severs in mp an pc's in sp. you can turn off culling in commands but ram goes up in use so we can several thousand warm you in theory if its optimized right. so i wounder how this game will solve the many floors problems in builds to come an seeing insane numbers without major hits to fps an ram with zombies since its a nightmare in coding to do so i wish these devs good luck.
@@app_manifestation yes i was talking zomboid, map has over a million zombies on map but it culls at 500 mobs entities on screen. i heard they want to up both max an cull max in optimizations when 42 is out and optimized, the nightmare that is dealing with the mass of monsters in progresses, when you do not cull the zombies leads to ram an fps drops. some severs turn off culling in 41 servers but lowers the max to solve the slow down. the update they sated they should be able to up the zombies count from 10-30 during internal testing what i am taking into account, this means we might be-able to see swarms of an easy 1000 plus not culled, without an fps hit.
thus this makes me wish these games devs good luck on how they will solve this in future builds they might be forced to cull the mass of zombies back down to 500 as the builds become more developed with cc. along with wishing them luck on how they might solve showing skyscrapers an basements.
@@app_manifestation yes i was talking about zomboid, they have 1 million on map but cull at 500, i read with the new optimizations they could up the max on map an max culling limits. the more zombies= more ram use an processes. this due to the optimizations its possible to see in 42 have over 1000+ zombies not culled. which means due to how the devs of this game they have solve same fps drop issues so they might be forced to reduce cull zombies limit since they will be faced with similar problems to what game zomboid faced among other things.

Damn man, this looks really good, but i hate thinking this would kill zomboid. It was fun and has a charm but damn this looks very smooth and pleasing to the eye.
Daam the cenario reminded me of Original Resident evil 3, thats not bad : ) !!!
