This looks really good. I can only say positive things about mack rides. After riding icon. The ride doesnt have amazing speed but the airtime is great proving you dont need the coaster to be the tallest fastest etc.. This ride looms anazing
Just got off it after a 3 hour line, the vertical loops are intense, there’s a lot of airtime, really good hangtime, and the part after the inverted top hat feels like maverick. (The ending is kinda boring though)
A little review for enthusiasts, fresh from riding it a few hours ago: It's a good ride. Don't expect a forceful launch and it isn't super fast but you don't notice that too much when riding it because it's compact. There are 5 inversions and 4 of them give elite hangtime (only the corkscrew doesn't). The hill on the second launch is unfortunately a letdown but there are four other hills/moments on the coaster that have good ejector airtime, and I recall at least three of those transitions feeling very snappy, especially the one before the loop. Those curves at the end don't feel as fast as the rest of the ride but you get decent positives in that small section. The launch building/preshow is unique and finding out Granny is making moonshine and disguising it as jam is fun and well-executed as a concept compared to Mystic Timbers for example. Overall this is probably one of the most well-rounded coasters I've been on, it does a little bit of everything. I had the pleasure of sitting on both the first and last rows twice and I'm still debating which was better. You feel the positives and snappiness of the transitions a little more in the front, and in the back you get slightly stronger airtime and the hangtime feels longer. So it depends on what you go for. I rode it five times and only one was middle-back, and that wasn't terrible.
@@camaroncarter I imagine it'll be the same way tomorrow but a lot of the people who waited long said it was worth it, I'm an impatient spender who bought the fast lane with the season pass, I recommend getting one if you have the money if you're going on opening day.
I wish I could have rode that many times 😂. I rode once after a two hour wait. Didn’t get fast pass bc they were only open for 4 hours, but when I go back I definitely will get fast pass. I actually got to ride four rides which was insane to me considering how many people were there. I just hate the start of the season bc all the new employees are kind of slow. Hopefully dispatches for all rides will pick up later in the year.
What's up with all the negative comments about this ride. I rode it on Saturday and I thought it was awesome! Great airtime and the hangtime is awesome! It's in my top 5!
The first few times I go to Carowinds this year I’m probably not even gonna ride it. This is the time to ride Fury325 and Intimidator while everyone is focused in Copperhead Strike.
If you really want a spoiler, the granny character pops up on a screen and is shouting things and there’s a few chicken animatronics, then I think the vat of moonshine blows up because the lights change to flashing orange and yellow and then you launch
It’s an alcoholic beverage called moonshine. Alcohol was illegal in the 1930s, when the ride’s story takes place. That’s why Granny Byrd ain’t happy about you riders peaking into her barn, she doesn’t want to be caught.
CoasterMan That would make sense! But nope, she’s making illegal beverages and probably selling them secretly. I might know a bit more if I knew what exactly is going on in the launch barn.
I live by Cedar Point and we get platinum passes every year. We're thinking of going to Carowinds on our way to Myrtle Beach this year and we get in an hour early with our passes. What are the roller coasters that we want to run to and hit first off? I got to say this new one looks a little lame.
Yeah. Over-the-shoulder restraints aren't actually necessary, as they aren't actually going to keep you any safer. Mainly they'll just make you feel more secure- though for some coasters, your body won't jerk around as much with them.
Why are there seatbelts? When there is a ride like time traveler, it kind of shows that Mack rides don’t need seatbelts on their coasters. It’s one more thing to slow down dispatch times.
Dispatch time was really slow I do gotta say, but the seatbelts just add extra safety, especially since you get so much hang time. I’m happy they had seatbelts bc if it didn’t I probably would have been so scared to ride 😂
pety pety Kings Dominion is better for riding big roller coasters, and Busch Gardens is better themed, so it depends on which you want, however I would say Kings Dominion is better
Omg I felt that way with the fury... I was like this is it this it where I die. I killed my boyfriends ears in the process anddd didn’t have a voice afterwards
I really have to ask why both launches just go right into super slow, hangtime-heavy inversions. It seems foolish not to do a Cheetah Hunt kind of thing where they blast you up a small airtime hill before the inversions.
I think it works personally the only major gripe I can see people having with this ride reasonably is the launches but that’s with every coaster by Mack rides the launches suck
The slower speed is actually the beauty of this ride. Not only do you get airtime off the hills, you actually get hang time off the inversions as the train slows down at the top of the loops. Well done ride!
Because the pieces and parts are fabricated overseas and transportation is one of the biggest expenses the way they do it. Look at the time traveler. $26 million. If that ride was built by B&M, (not saying. Just to make a point) it wouldn’t be $26 million because there is a factory in the United States. The transportation costs would be cheaper. But since it is Mack, that price will be the usual on their newer coasters in the states.
I agree that the launches aren't forceful but in no way does that make the rest of the ride garbage. If you say it's an insult to launch coasters for that reason you're basically calling Helix, Icon, and Blue Fire garbage and good luck holding that opinion.
@@DCombz And they're all Mack, and only one of those is any good. I don't understand what the point of calling something a launch coaster if it just gradually accelerates.
@@deathrooster14 acceleration as a means of gaining enough speed to complete the track and its elements means it's a launched coaster, whether it's gradual or fast. This accomplishes that, and is more than just its launch. Also this is debatable but I think this is better than Icon and Blue Fire. Don't knock it just because one element doesn't please you. We all want another Maverick but it's just not going to happen until those new Intamins are built.
Thanks for a pov without that music 😂
This coaster is my favorite by FAR! riding the fury tomorrow for the first time!

@C Rizzy Aw, really?
It has amazing hangtime it is one of the best launch coasters I’ve ridden.
When you go on it it feels like it is going a lot faster than it looks personally to me
That first loop is everything
That first loop must have some awesome hang time!
gplez91 that was the only part I hated
It does I’ve been on that ride about 3-9 times the airtime is amazing
All I can think about is how that used to be thunder road 😭😭😭
I know right?😭😭

But this is better. Much Better!

Yes..i remember how i was so scared to ride thunder but not anymore. I loved that ride so much

You're kidding yourself if you think this is as good as Maverick. It's not even half as good.
Mystical Hippo I waited two hours last night 😂. I think I enjoyed it more bc I waited so long lol.
@@deathrooster14 they didn't say it was as good as Maverick. They said that one element kinda FELT like Maverick.

The next time I’m going to Carowinds is in the summer. I’ll make sure to ride this.

Really lap bars for a inverted coaster?
Yeah. Over-the-shoulder restraints aren't actually necessary, as they aren't actually going to keep you any safer. Mainly they'll just make you feel more secure- though for some coasters, your body won't jerk around as much with them.
This is such a strange plot for a theme park attraction.
Not really, it relies heavily on the history of the Carolinas and thier history with moonshine
Why are there seatbelts? When there is a ride like time traveler, it kind of shows that Mack rides don’t need seatbelts on their coasters. It’s one more thing to slow down dispatch times.
I believe having the seat belts as a back up restraint saves them money on the parks insurance policy
It could also be a way to tell if someone is too big to ride. BGW said if the seatbelts on their B&Ms can’t buckle, the guest is too big
Also it's a car so it fits the theme.
Dispatch time was really slow I do gotta say, but the seatbelts just add extra safety, especially since you get so much hang time. I’m happy they had seatbelts bc if it didn’t I probably would have been so scared to ride 😂

They have music on the ride right?
I don’t think so
Nope.
Cheching this out on opening day.
Same lol
Same. I hope the line isn’t long though, that would suck. At least they’re running 3 trains
Granny is pissed
I’m confused, how is this the most expensive addition to Carowinds when Fury 325 is in the same park?
I believe the “most expensive addition” includes both Copperhead and the new hotel
@@IntheLoopPodcast Plus Mack rides are just super expensive in general because the pieces have to be transported overseas
The best roller coaster in carowinds

Add ten miles an hour to the first launch and it would be a world class ride. The first half just looks sluggish
But, then there wouldn’t be the crazy hang time on the inversions.
Fishing Harry the POV was most likely filmed early morning with an empty train so it will most likely run a bit faster during summer.
I know right? What's the point of a launch coaster if it's launch is completely forceless.
