Alot of our clients only hire us around the holidays or when they've got visitors coming and the dont clean very often so this stuff is a time saver for sure.
The shell came out of the jar when you poured out the toilet bowl cleaner. That is the membrane that is under the shell. Think hard boiled, and that skin that's on there.

Very interesting that the glove turned pink. There are several types of dye that are used as chemical indicators for pH and I think the gloves must have been soaked in one. Toilet cleaner is likely a strong base, as most cleaning chemical are. PHenolphthalein is a very common indicator which turns bright pink in a basic solution (pH higher than water.) I say it is interesting though because phenolphthalein has no color in acidic or neutral solution, so if it was on the gloves it was likely there to act as a pH indicator during the leather processing and not as a colorant for the final product.
4 minutes in.. and: IIRC century eggs are.. old eggs. similar to cheese, which is basically old milk. and wine is old grape juice. the eggs probably reacted so strong because the cleaner instantly dissolved the shell :) -> conclusion: yes the cleaner sucked the calcium from the shell.. my wife's grandmother always tells us how they had to extract calcium from egg shells using vinigar during WW2 to get enough calcium for the kids.

More than likely for the glove turning purple was the dye in the glove mixed with the dye in the cleaner and turned it purple.
The shell didn't get softened, that was the membrain. The shell is made of calcium and it dissolved in the toilet cleaner.
That membrane has saved me so many times. I have chickens and have dropped so many fresh eggs
