Rafis is the favorite player of a lot of current and past osu players because he was the frontline fighter during the golden age of osu (2015-2017) with the likes of hvick, cookiezi, angelsim, idke, vaxei and many, many more legendary players that have either quit or went playing casually. Rafis is not just a long playing player, he is an icon of the golden age of the game. Not to mention that he has always been a positive and humble guy who likes the game for the community and the interaction, not just the numbers going up. He was one of the pioneers of the osu meetups when it was starting up by going to all meetups that he could even if it was relatively small, increasing the community events and making osu more than just a game. Rafis is osu's grandfather.
www is the one that has inspired me to play osu! since 2015. Rafis makes me want to be a top player. also, The Polish team at OWC 2017 was such a happy time I always cheered them and they got 1st place. Thanks, for bringing me back to the good old memory man. I really miss that moment. Not just like a toxic osu! Community in my country nowadays.
Rafis is the unlucky guy who was always shining less bright than Shige for like 8 years straight but he's really deserving as one of the greatest players of all time also great vid
Every time a big history video comes out I have to do this sort of thing. Don't take it personally, but these are my points on issues I found, or things that can be improved. (P.S. Loved His World section) Big issues (video format): - Just like many other videos attempting to tell the history of a player, you seem so focused on pp and pp values that you leave out what makes the player special. You skip a massive chunk of Rafis' history of the skills he was improving at apart from that, and just skip to getting a new top play. How was he able to FC this jump map (Miraizu)? Up to that point you had only mentioned in passing that he had played speed maps (Plasma Gun), and never even mentioned any of his top plays before this point. Please talk about what makes the player special or what they had to accomplish rather than just the pp they got. - The chronology is all messed up, you keep going back and forth on events that happened before and after what you're talking about currently. I don't know, maybe it's the style of video, but like, if it's meant to be a "documentary" then I feel like you should at least keep the timeline consistent. - You have good content for this video, but it just feel like you wanted to stretch it out to 1 hour and had to throw in filler. Minor issues (historical accuracy): - peppy didn't create osu! because he "wasn't satisfied", he made it because he could imagine custom songs being used in the game and wanted to create an emulator where people could make their very own beatmaps - "Tablet support" was not a thing that was implemented, I believe you may be confusing this with TabletPC support, which is what early touchscreen computers at the time were called. - You left out the most important aspect of PPv1 which is what made it "skill-based" in the first place: the higher you place on a map the more pp, and that over time plays would gradually lose pp, meaning you had to continue actively setting good plays to remain at the top of the rankings. - Just mentioning rrtyui and sayonara-bye during the PPv1 era isn't really the best examples to put forward; why not mention someone like Reimu-Desu or Niko along with rrtyui? - I know to simplify you make it sound like the change from PPv1 to PPv2 was basically just removing the "map popularity factor", but it is completely and utterly a different system entirely. - No mention that Rafis' Miraizu DT FC was the 2nd highest pp play in the game, and the highest SR FC ever up to that point. - Delve deeper into why Rafis becoming a "3-mod" player was such a big deal, there were barely any around, what makes is so hard, what are some scores he was able to achieve before Best FriendS. - Was Poland vs China in 2015 an upset? From my memory China were the favored team to win OWC entirely from the start. I could be wrong about this though. - Comparing pp values from different eras is impossible, especially when you don't give any context as to how the numbers differ. Why even bring up the Cookiezi FDFD current pp value vs. Karthy's Honesty in 2018? Again, this is another issue with focusing too much on then numbers rather than what makes the plays/players special. - Why are we only talking about filsdelama/other 3-mod players when we get to the late 2016 section? - 24:40 up to this point you have talked more about Cookiezi's scores than the subject of this video. - "No one dared to try Necro Fantasia" what are you talking about? It was a well known farm map from the day it was ranked, in fact many other top players with similar DT/jump skillsets had tried it, Rafis wasn't even the first DT FC on Necro Fantasia if we count Totoki. - Honestly past the halfway point there weren't really historical errors, just the big issues mentioned earlier.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING VIDEO BRO, I WATCHED THE WHOLE THING, It was really good, and absolute cinema. An underrated Rafis score in my opinion is his HDDT FC on Dawn of a Dark Day, Repector Remix, the fingercontrol, You cooked on editing and welcome back
Thank you :) I tried to include as much as possible, but it was really hard to track every single score, especially recognizing underrated ones from years back
I love how this is inspired by the hungrybox documentary, but instead of copying it one to one you put your own spin on it and in my opinion improved the quality from the original video of EmpLemon!!! truly an amazing video please keep this up!
never ever is such a good series really good video was a bit scared b4 watching that this would just be trying to copy the style of emplemon's never ever series but it's rly well made !!
I personally think WWW was never competing. He just casually stayed in the top 10 for years while just having fun in the game. I mean the guy most of the time SS's old map sets till this day. He is still top 50 when it comes to score, so you could argue he never left top 50
Boy oh boy where do I even begin. Rafis... honey, my pookie bear. I have loved you ever since I first laid eyes on you. The way you play the game and strike fear into the zoomers eyes. Your silky smooth touch around the keyboard, and that gorgeous aim. I would do anything for you.
The ending is all messed up, because of slow copyright detection. Check out the good ending linked in the description!
