- Being among the best players on mouse, while not unheard of, is definitely an incredible feat. Chicony's rise was not a quick one, nor was it steady, taking many set backs on the way, but he never fully gave up.

Some facts that weren't mentioned in the video but you may find interesting (sorry for bad English):
1) He could not register his account for a month so he played offline in 2014.
2) He made 2 accounts in 2014 but didn't get banned (Leva Russian is second one)
3) He banned himself in 2015 because he quarreled with his sister. She was upset that he didn't spend much time with her, so he thought that osu had a bad influence on him (He was 10).
4) He communicated with many people in russian osu conferences and groups in 2016-2017. For example, he chatted with Alumetry who was a popular top osu russian player. However, because of his childish behaviour he got hated and then made an account on Gatari (private osu server). Then he took the name Chicony because of his first membrane keyboard under the brand "Chicony".
5) After his first 300pp play (Best Friends Tv size in 2017) he got banned on Gatari but wasn't frustrated, because he got the attention from many influential russian osu players of that time. He made his first liveplay and got unbanned almost immediately.
6) He started streaming in 2017 when he moved to Kazan and lived in his aunt's house. He played osu on his brother's computer and improved a lot (reached 6000pp), but after that he returned back to home and can't play at all. He lived in one-room flat and couldn't play because of noise, so he played Minecraft.
7) In June 2018 he bought his first good mouse G102. If I'm not mistaken, he plays with it now as well.
8) On 29 of December, 2018 he decided to clean his Chicony keyboard and wiped it with alcohol. Ofc it got broken. After that he spend all his pocket money on awful membrane keyboard of brand "Oklick". However, he started playing so bad he got depressed, he just couldn't get good accuracy. He was afraid of asking his parents about a new keyboard, because they didn't like to spend money on gaming. So Chicony suffered and played with that terrible setup until April 2019, he even got a 470pp score.
9) In April 2019 he moved to his aunt again and tried playing with a normal setup. Then he got improved a lot, he started getting 400pp plays in every session and farmed from 6000pp to 9000pp in 2 weeks. Then he started streaming again and was very happy because of 5-6 viewers.
10) After he found out that he needed to return to his old flat in autumn, he lost all of his motivation and didn't know what to do. Furthermore, his PC broke and he was doing nothing for a month.
11) In spring of 2020, after an year, he finally could buy a new keyboard "Akko 3087". This keyboard saved his osu carrier, he started playing speed maps and got unbanned on Bancho.
12) After unbanning on Bancho, he started his stream called "I got unbanned on Bancho!". In 2 days he reached 8000-9000pp again, but he didn't want to farm further and returned to Gatari. He says that that summer of 2020 was the best time of his life.
13) In 2020-2021 he got extremely interested in Path of Exile and quit osu.
14) In 2021 he organized an osu offline tournament in Kazan which many top russian players joined. He took 2nd place.
15) He has farmed from 11000pp to ~11700pp in one session somehow.
16) After playing many different tournaments he decided to join OWC2021. Before that he thought about himself as the best russian tournament player, but he messed up OWC2021 (as he said later). After losing against Australia, he decided to switch to a tablet. This was the beginning of terrible mindset.
17) He couldn't get used to a tablet in 3 months and was afraid that he couldn't meet expectations of his viewers. He was worrying about his exams and graduation very much at that time. He also thought that he won't be able to play osu after graduation. All of these weighed at him.
18) His 3 favorite osu streamers of 2023 are Xootynator, MrFuture, and NyanPotato.
I took these facts from his 2022 10 hour stream of playing "Burn this moment into the retina of my eye" and his russian interview. I'll add new information if find something.

What do I need to look into there? I’ve seen his videos, and in his most recent one, he has done some fair amount of improving (i’m talking about the newer zoomer video). He has a lot to improve on, but so do I and everyone else. I think he’ll do great

@@b1rch i know xD but there's different ways of "playing more" also some red flags, or things to avoid doing, since just playing more doesn't really help, it must be in certain way that i still haven't found.
@@waidi3242 try and play harder and harder maps each session, play for acc, not combo or miss counts. If you got a play on a map that is 1* above your skill level and had 93% acc, push for 93,5 or even 94%, progressively bump up the difficulty, it’s really that simple, but it also takes time, you can’t really skip and go straight to the top
@@b1rch i only play above my skill range, got better with 270 bpm stream and DT jumps too, but i just can't get enough consistency .. always going 99% acc and fingerlock like 3 times and it's down to like 73%
@@waidi3242 finger lock is a sign of poor technique and or one not being comfortable with the bpm they're playing, more often it's the technique. I'm not super good at osu myself though, so I don't have much knowledge nor the wisdom

Why not the best? Name one mouse player better than chicony, that can contend with malisz in tournaments
I agree that Chicony is the best with mouse in tourneys, but currently it’s not really certain weather the same stands over all. Ninerik has better speed and mindset and is good in other skills, plus nyan just came back and he is a massive contender for that title aswell, especially after seeing his recent scores. So I didn’t want to stir up a boiling pot and have people argue about them
Chicony can't contend at all with malisz in tournaments, nor is he "the closest" mouse player to do so imo. Of course he's a top tier tournament player, but yeah to me there are like, 2, maybe 3 players in the world who can contend with malisz in tournaments currently and Chicony isn't one of them. And when it comes to mouse players I have found multiple mouse players to be more consistent and impressive than he is in tournaments. But this is very opinion based ^^
Also to me NyanPotato will never even be a contender to the title of strongest mouse player.
He's a great speed farmer sure, but he literally can't play anything else in the game (on top of being super disrespectful towards players ranked below him who could destroy him in tournaments). He abuses of a ridiculousely broken pp meta, and if speed had a proper nerf he wouldn't even be talked about anymore.
Mouse players like fancy lad, eternum, or Ekoro just to name a few are much more intertaining and impressive imo. And I'm glad Chicony isn't just a speed onetrick but also a great tournament player, cause after 3 years of a broken speed meta I'm kinda tired only seeing speed being talked about all the time ^^'

if playing with mouse is as easy as playing with tablet why are we glorify the number 1 mouse player
Because tablet is more common as it is assumed by most as the most optimal playstyle, when in actuallity it’s more preference than anything. The popularity of the playstyke has probably limited some peoples potential, look at asecretbox, he played with tablet, switched to mouse and became much better
