YES!!! BEST video in quite some time! Back to the basics of "in the woods, fire cooking" with no frills, gadgets, solar, switches, trailers, etc... Just build a fire, throw down a grill and cook! In my opinion, these are the best videos! Don't get me wrong the others are good too... But this was simple cooking, simple gear, good food. Two thumbs up!!
Totally agree! While I know, at its basic level, every cook-up still has a heat source, cooking surface and utensils… seeing it done without the other gear makes it more achievable for everyone. (On the other hand, as a dad of a young family, the practicalities of the van are obvious)
What a legend. Long time follower of your channel. But first time commenting. Love your recipes. And legend helping out Lil and Jake. That’s what the community of camping and touring is all about.
Mate that sandwich is killer. Made it 3 times already. The onions and avioli takes things to another level. Thanks for my new go to when I'm really hungry
Including as minimum steak, lamb chop(s), sausage, bacon, rissole, egg gravy of choice chips and salad or vegies. Bonus points for offal options and exotics.
Two best things - steak, sandwich. How good is that camera angle between those two big trees? So good. "Let that rest in some bacon juice for a bit" is a phrase that needs to be used more.
This looks great!!!!!One of my favorites is grilled onions. I put just enough butter to cook the onions until the butter starts to stick to the pan then deglaze it with some beer. Nice and sweet!😊
Awesome sandwich mate had me drooling watching. Salt n pepper calamari always a pub treat when near the coast otherwise chicken parmi. New subscriber now just gotta keep my weight down 😂 Loving that compact bbq grill you use
Thànks for helping lil & jake, think I prob missed an episode and not sure why but thanks anyway 🙂👍 When I hit the pub its normally good old chicken in pyjamas, sometimes its ok but sometimes it stands out as deliciously different and exceptional.. bring it harry! 💪🍻
Honestly, the best thing I’ve had recently that took me back to my childhood and then made me go him and make it even better, was beef cheeks in a ragu with mash. Absolutely phenomenal and I’d love to see something like that! So hard to find a good recipe and I’d absolutely love to see how you temper your heat etc and how your cooking times are adjusted for a live fire as opposed to an adjustable stove. Something like that is the perfect hearty dish when your out bush in the elements in the middle of winter. I know it’s spring now but I think the principals would remain the same.
Just watched Lil and Jake’s latest episode and it just reinforced what a good bloke you are!!! Love watching your videos and I love your book. Harry’s KFC is an absolute favourite in our house!
love the cook, can't go past the steak sandwich, Hey what brand cahir are you using in the video and I would love to knoe the small containe you used, cheers keep the content coming.
We made steak sandwiches on fire a lot while we were travelling full time, less traditional but we used slaw and chipotle instead of salad! Creaminess and tang was amazing with the steak
Well firstly good man for helping Lil and Jake, 2nd I love a good steak sandwich, I’ve cooked your steak sandwich and loved it, 3rd you almost forgot the beer lol.
Harry, you have to try Tweed Real Food balsamic for caramalised onions. The Maple bourbon is AMAZING!! 💣 Plus their salts and rubs are also amazing and they are gluten free. Porcini salt is a must in our pantry and campertrailer. They are one of our favourite Australian companies. Give them a try!
I couldn't agree more about your thoughts on pub steak sangas, icky. Our go to at our local is bruschetta, charred octopus tentacles or a good old parmigiana.
I reckon Lil and Jake would have liked a sneaky steak sandwich....while changing the diff on your driveway. Appears you really are a great bloke. Cheers.
I am drooling over that! Oh yeah, and nice that you helped out Lil and Jake. Would love to bump into you on the road some time, I would be the old bloke with the beer :)
Hey bud, loving the content. My go to pub meal is the beach n beef challenge 800g steak and cray obviously creamy garlic sauce myst have the chips and side salad.
Old Asbestoes back at it again. Great video mate. Looked delicious. My pub order? Im always up to try whatever type of pork dish jumps out at me. Pork cutlet, pork belly bites, pork adobo at some of the gastropubs. I find its a good indicator of whether or not the rest of the menu is worth investigating.
Pub feed is rarely the same thing, a mix of a few starters is always a good way to get some variety. Salt & pepper squid , spicy chicken wings, sliders etc
Two things; *A bit of beer when cooking onions is a must. I think it's mentioned in the Geneva Conventions somewhere *How bloody great is the setup in that campground???
Best pub meal I have had is King George Whiting and chips from the Walpole pub the night before trekking the Bib to Albany, Fresh as you could get, simple but so delicious and not stingy.
Yum! For a second i thought back to basics setup meant you were gping to be out in the swag! My go to depending if itson the menu.. Chili prawn woodfired oven pizza Chicken shnitty covered in creamy garlic prawn sauce, chips n salad OR beef schnitzel with slaw, potato salad, mushroom sauce & a pickle 🙌
I think you definitely need to do different combo parmiganas! I had a pub feed today chicken parm with chilli, garlic, basil tomato base topped with prawns and avo smothered in mozzarella with chips and salad and a pepper sauce in the side 🤤🤤🤤
I lived in Japan for a while and the pub meal with mates was Sukiyaki, great with beer so easy to cook on a small fire, but excellent on one of those cheep gas units, best camping food ever.
Gotta love a bit of areola in ya steak sanga…shoulda given us a bit of a nip slip while you were at it 😂 I make a pretty mean steak sanga myself so I quite often get one to compare…they’re never as good! And yes, I agree the steak should always be sliced! Also quite partial to the ol pub classic Parmi.
In summer its the steak sanga or schnitty but in colder weather its always a chowder preferably a seafood chowder! Dare you to make it on the fire mate.
Loved the name for avioli but when you started calling it areola (boob sauce?🤔😂) that was cracking me up!😜 Looked bloody magnificent though especially the caramelised onions! Delicious!🤤
The Mount Pleasant hotel in Gympie (one of my locals) does a brilliant house made chicken Kiev and I get that with chips and veg, such a good comfort meal and goes bloody good with beer!
You've made a video here before, haven't you? It looks familiar. Maybe it was in one of Ronny's episodes but I don't rightly remember. Looks like a great spot with the tables between the trees.
My pub order would either be the amazing burger just saw you make or the king avo shnitty. Penko shnitty, bacon, fresh sliced avo with hollendaise or lemon cowboy butter.

Almost perfect steak sandwich i recon! I love a bit of horseradish cream personally, but damn that does look good!! My pub order is usually the steak and chips with a mushroom gravy. Occasionally the seafood basket with fish, prawns, scollops and chips though.

Not sure how you would do this but will always get a stout and beef pie when available.
Agree, loved going back to basics.
Lambs fry and bacon. I challenge you to try this. Most pubs can’t get it right.
When done right it is delicious.
A massive thank you for helping out Lil and Jake. A true friend.😁🌺 Steak sandwich looked so gooooood - meat perfectly cooked for me.😁🌺
My go to is a mixed grill, if available which sadly is becoming less common!
I agree 100%, can't go past a good mixed grill.
A good steak and Guinness pie in a country pub in winter is a winner damn near everytime
Fred made the B-roll A+!!

Controversial, but my missus typically orders Laksa at the pub. A lot of NT pubs have Laksa on the menu
Best laska I have had was at the Parap Markets. Man I miss Darwin.
