Uchiha Shisui Jesus is the Greek pronunciation of Yeshua, a Hebrew name meaning God saves. And the Bible teaches the Trinity; Jesus himself does when he says I and the Father are one.
Ok I will try to answer your points as you present them. First, you say that Jesus' name and teaching is from Greek paganism. In answer to this, I point out that our teaching of the Trinity is straight from Jesus himself. Look at any passage in the book of John wherein Jesus makes the claim "I and the Father are one." If you notice, the Jews he speaks to pick up stones to kill him. They know exactly what he is saying; that he is God himself. Also, in John 14 and 16, when Jesus speaks of the Counselor/Comforter he will send to us in the Father's name, he gives this Counselor attributes belonging to God, such as convicting the world in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment (16:8) and guiding Jesus' followers into all truth (16:13) [meaning of course that he has to KNOW all truth if he is to guide people into it]. Finally, in Matthew chapter 28, the text of the Great Commission that Jesus gives his disciples includes the direction to "baptize people in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit." So our trinitarian doctrine comes from Jesus, not from Paul. Also, a side note, why on earth would Christians proclaim to believe in something as mind-boggling as a God who is at the same time one and three? Doesn't that make us look like fools? Apparently you think so, and so does most of the world for that matter. But such a doctrine, being from God, is the only one we can hold and be consistent with our faith, even if we don't fully understand it. On the point you make that the Jews were taught monotheism--well, we Christians claim to be monotheists too. But to your point of the Trinity, there are references in the OT that make better sense in a Trinitarian context. Genesis 1:26--God says "let US make man in OUR image..." Why is he talking of himself in the plural? Even in Genesis 1:1, the very first verse of Scripture, the Hebrew uses a plural noun for God (Elohim) with a singular verb (bara--to create). In Isaiah 6, Isaiah the prophet overhears a conversation of God with Himself, saying "Who shall go for us?" And in Psalm 110, David writes, "The Lord (YHWH) says to my Lord (Adonai) [both are names for God btw], 'Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.'" Who is doing the sitting? How can God sit at his own right hand? Maybe if he were a Trinity, that is possible. More examples can be found here, if you are truly interested in exploring the issue. www.blueletterbible.org/faq/don_stewart/don_stewart_330.cfm Finally on the matter of the incarnation itself. I find your position interesting, since I have always assumed that an all-powerful God could choose to become as one of his creatures if he so chose. The problem for me has not been HOW could God have become man, but WHY would he have become a man. Why would the Lord of hosts give up his high position and become but a lowly servant I have no idea, except that God is love (Exodus 34:6, 1 John 4:16). Our position is not that the man Jesus became God, but that Jesus already was God and became flesh (John 1:1-14). If Jesus is not God, then above all people we Christians are to be pitied indeed (1 Corinthians). But then you also have to account for some things, like Jesus' miracles and above all his resurrection. How does a man heal people born blind if he has not, at the very least, the favor of God? (John 9). And if he calls himself God, to the point where people think he is a blasphemer, and still has God's favor, what then does that say about God? In fact, the only point of wrongdoing that people could point out at Jesus' trial was that he claimed to be God. If you do not accept the Bible's account of these things, then you must at least accept the historians' accounts. Josephus recounts the narrative of Jesus' trial, crucifixion, and the fact that people at least claimed to see him risen, and Josephus was a Jew (so claims of pagan bias not really apply). Also, nearly every moral thinker has stated that Jesus' code of ethics as presented in Matthew 5-7 is as perfect as it gets. Even Islam celebrates Jesus as the great prophet Isa. Everyone says that at least Jesus was a great moral teacher. But he did, unequivocally, claim to be God (see John 5, 8, 10, 14). So we are presented with three options about Jesus. The first is that he was telling the truth, and he is so much more than just a great moralist; he is God himself. The second is that he is a lunatic; he was just crazy in the same way a man in an insane asylum claims to be Napoleon or Julius Caesar. This option is not really left to us though, because Jesus was clearly not crazy; he was consistent in his life and his story and acted rationally. So really the only alternative is the third option: that Jesus was a pathological liar. And if he was such a liar, or even a lunatic, then he could not be a great moral teacher. In some way, you have to deal with the fact of Jesus; his life, his teaching, his claims, and his resurrection. I would point you to the Case for Christ by Lee Strobel if you are truly interested in pursuing the answers. He was a die-hard atheist, so I would think even a harder person to convince than you would be, since I take you to at least believe in God. There is truth out there, and I am confident that God will himself reveal it to you if you truly seek it.
"The Son is the first born of all CREATION then thru him all things were made for him" God is not a CREATED being but Jesus is ! Jesus was born of a Hebrew mother. There is only one Archangel & his name Michael in Hebrew means "Who is like God".....like God but not God. Both Michael & Jesus command an army of Angels. Michael & his Angels cast SAtan & his Angels out of Heaven forever. At Armageddon Jesus Christ will also command an army of Angels but of course there is only one UNITED army of Angels & one Commander who has 2 names, Jesus Christ & the Archangel Michael ! The Angels are referred to as Sons of God. God so loved the world he sent his only begotten Son, His first CREATION Michael whose name means "Who is like God" For the first 325 years of Christianity Christians did not believe Jesus was God in the flesh they believed Jesus is the Archangel Michael. Then a long came a spider named Constantine who brought the pagan triune 3 in 1 "trinity" concept into the Catholic empire which is also known as the Mother of all Harlots. Constantine was a Satanist who murdered both his own son & wife. Sadly most people who call themselves Christians choose to love this Satanic deception. God's name is not "I am". The Word was a god not thee God Almighty. Satan is referred to as the god of this world but of course he is not God Almighty. There are 2 paths to choose from, the Good Son Michael aka Jesus Christ or his younger brother the Evil Son Lucifer aka Satan the Devil. It makes absolutely no sense that God came down as a man & proved himself faithful to the death to himself. Michael willingly came down as Jesus & suffered thru a brutal death remaining faithful to his Father which is why Jesus was GIVEN the title of the Christ & why he sits at the right hand of the Father. YHWH God Almighty & Jesus Christ are one in the way they think & act but they are 2 separate entities. The Holy Spirit is not an entity it is God's active Supernatural Force. Jesus said we must take in knowledge from himself & his Father who SENT him !
@gabbygab2 The answer is that Jesus is both God and man in one person. This doctrine is called the hypostatic union. As a man, Jesus was under the law and was obligated to keep the law (Gal. 4:4). In His humbled state of being lower than the angels (Heb. 2:9), Jesus was cooperating with the limitations of being a man (Phil. 2:5-8). Therefore, He was in complete subjection to the Father so that He might fulfill the law and be the high priest sacrifice for our sins (Heb. 5:10).
At about 6:04 or 6:05 check out the subtitles by turning your captions on when he says "Jesus loves the little children"...I don't know what to think haha
@ilyy67 First of all I would ask you to cite the verses you are referring to, then I would say...yes, because after Jesus conquered death He then ascended to the right hand of Father, resuming His perfect union and equality that He had with the Father before He walked the earth as a human. I just don't actually see in scripture that when Jesus walked this earth He simultaneously God and man. In fact, in Hebrews we are told specifically that He was lower than the angels for a little while.
"i don't think mummy liked us" "i don't think mummy liked anybody" "she was a demon" these guys are the funniest demons i've ever seen!!!! love the british accents too
@Godslilredhed You're missing the point entirely. Jesus was not fully God based on his own abilities. Jesus said it himself that he can't do anything of himself (John 5:30). He was powerless by himself! The power that he had came from God. The disciples had THE SAME power, and received it the same way (John 14:12). Just because the disciples may not have controlled the weather does not mean they couldn't. The same power was in them, which is the same power that should be in you - if you believe!
If Jesus was fully God because He a) cast out demons, b) raised the dead, and c) calmed the storm, then the disciples and apostles were also fully God.
