Excited I got mine today for early fathers day, didn't quite follow the process correctly so found this tutorial, still made a delicious cup of coffee.
The method appears to apply a similar approach yes 👌 - though the pressure you can apply to the system is very limited. - So you can achieve the brew ratio of a espresso - though the actual texture, taste and crema of the brew resulting from the Delter would be quite different.
My Aeropress rubber has finally started to wear out (if you don't have it 100% straight it'll "pop" out some hot unfiltered coffee mix) - so I think it's time to try the newer version I guess ;)
Good question! To remove the JetSeal, you're able to press it out the bottom of the body, with a back of a spoon or similar. and to add a new one - you need to place it in the body from the top and gently press it in to place by pushing it down the column of the body until it sits correctly around the edges. You may may have to do this 2-3 times - to get it in to place - but once it's in - it work like new 👌 Let me know how you go!
If it's the Y seal you're talking about, on the plunger itself. This needs the two flaps to be facing downwards on the plunger. If it is the jetseal, than you want the divets only, facing upwards. So the jetseal opens downwards. If there's anything I can help with, let me know
So many of you seem to have started out with the Delter and have the two-way valve work, it seems, perfectly. My first DCP worked once, then wouldn’t press the water at all. Sent it back and ordered another. The second one arrived and sorta/kinda worked, but required torquing around and only would express a little water at a time, requiring many presses to get the water expelled into the coffee grounds. I followed all the tips, washed the two-way gasket, pressed from various heights, and even tried to press without anything in the coffee chamber. I am so frustrated because the Delter makes the best coffee I’ve ever had. Is there some trick I’m missing, or have I just received two defective units? HELP!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention 🫶 we have been in contact with the Delter Coffee team and can confirm that some of the earlier production models had this issue. There are some workarounds to this. You can fill the water with the plunger removed (up to the 150mL line) and then plunge from the top and repeat. Some people find this approach simpler and easier and we recommend you give this a try. However if you have any further issues trying this, please reach out to the team at sales@deltercoffee.com.au, they have offered to send you the new firmer Y-Seal to you and will be happy to assist you further! Cheers
I think I must have got a dodgy one. The plunger on mine too often just slides down without making a proper seal, so the water just squigies around it rather than being pressed through the lower chamber.
Mine did this the other day. Remove both the y-seal and shower seal and give them a good clean with soap. Rinse well. Same goes for the unit itself. This worked for mine and many other people. It is a temperamental beast at times.
Issues can arise if the seals become oily over time. As already mentioned - and should of in the video ~ you have to remove both the y-seal and shower seal and give them a good clean with soap - as well as inside the water chamber than rinse well to remove soap and dry. This should bring everything back to squeaky water tight 👌
@@AlternativeBrewing I had been advised to wash previously, which made no difference, not not to actually remove the seals and wash separately. This seems to have done the trick. Has been working for a few days now with no issue. Other useful tips - don't pull the plunger up too far. Not past the 150 mark. Better to do multiple pushes to get the water through than one big push. And don't try and push too hard.
Yeah anything below 20 I have found to work well. You'll feel resistance pressing down and you'll have to resist the urge to push harder as this will end in disaster - but as you slowly push down you should feel the resistance getting less and less similar to an Manual Lever Espresso shot.
Alternative Brewing it’s definitely cool. I think if you like aero press you’d be mad not to get one of these too just to try. I’m sure some people would prefer delter. It’s definitely a smoother, less bitter brew, at least the way I’ve used it.
Sometimes the plunger is very difficult to push down. I don’t feel like there’s any rhyme or reason to why or when it happens. Maybe just too much coffee. That’s a seriously weak mug you made there!!
Yes, possible the amount of coffee or the grind. If this happens .. I generally keep a consistent pressur eon the plunger - but not trying too hard - and eventually it'll start to percolate through the bed of coffee - than as the water extracts material from the grounds - it'll become easier and easier to press down 👍
AVOID THIS GADGET! Notice how pale the colour of the finished brew is? And that's using a massive 21 grams of ground coffee! The Delter is just a fancy french press with no additional benefits. Move on, nothing to see - or hear - here, as they say in the movies. p.s. When making my generous size mug of coffee I use far less than 21 grams, and you can't shine a light through it! Secret? using a standard french press I whisk the brew and hot water for 10 seconds creating a vortex before finishing off with the plunger! This super-infusion technique is the same concept as Nespresso VertuoLine that uses their patented (and expensive) Centrifusion technology.
To me, it sounds like you prefer much stronger coffee than the Delter Press brews. This may also be the case with many styles of pourover coffee - and yes, it makes clean, bright and juicy cups of coffee - nothing like a French Press. Still a great Brewer - but perhaps not for your tastebuds 🫶

love it, has replaced my Aero-Press
A favourite method for brewing personally! love it
Same here!
Is this BPA free?
Yes 👌
Got it now Josh will try it as well buddy!
Could you use the Delter for a pseudo-espresso? 🤞🏼
The method appears to apply a similar approach yes 👌 - though the pressure you can apply to the system is very limited. - So you can achieve the brew ratio of a espresso - though the actual texture, taste and crema of the brew resulting from the Delter would be quite different.
great brewing tool!!
I love it!
Good equipment for brewing batch but mine one start leaking without any pressure, any replace rubber I can find on the shop?
For sure. alternativebrewing.com.au/products/delter-press-spare-parts
That's awesome! Thanks!
Which all variations of grinds can I use with delter press?
Like for Aeropress, can use most of the grind levels
I would say, fine but not as fine as Aeropress - as it'll most likely block the water passing through - but all the way coarse is no worries 👍
My Aeropress rubber has finally started to wear out (if you don't have it 100% straight it'll "pop" out some hot unfiltered coffee mix) - so I think it's time to try the newer version I guess ;)
Josh, how do you replace the Jetseal? I can't find any 'how to' info anywhere and would really appreciate your help! Love your videos. Thanks!

Please can you explain which way the seal needs to be placed in the chamber? I took it out to rinse and now I can’t work it out.

can you use aeropress paper filter and able metal filter disc on the delter?
Yes you can. I think paper filters give a much better brew in the DCP.
@@Radio_Activity Thanks for the info

Hi, is it below 10 in ek43? Thanks
Hi there, no I would be using around a 4 - 5 grind on the Delter 👌
Thanks for making this. I had forgotten how to use mine! :)
😂 No worries! Bigger brews are the way to go 👌

I went through 3 of them with the same problem.
@@bs7113 Nice to know I'm not the only one. I ended up just chucking it in the back of the cupboard and sticking with the aeropress.

"Medium fine". Would that be around 15-16 clicks on a Comandante?
I would say 28 but there are different opinions 😅

14 to 16 on commandate
You need to warm the cup first!
It just looks like an advanced aeropress😅
I say it's like a filter espresso ... because you have some features similar to espresso and some similar to Filter coffee.
My sense of patriotism meant I wanted this to be better than the aero press but it’s really not.
The Aeropress is hard to improve upon. I think that's why the Delter brings a different way to extract your coffee to the playing field

Bullshite! That’s water you’re drinking - scaaam.
Lol that’s exactly what I thought! Sad, weak cup of brew😂. That being said I love my delter and usually make an americano.
Correct!

it hurts me how inconsistent and freestyle you are going with times and ml
