Anatomy student here and what the nurse means is that you punctured the pocket of fluid in your kneecap called the bursa and the puncture allowed air into the pocket: which is why it made that weird gurgling noise. Usually they flush it out and seal the hole and wait for the fluid to refill itself when it gets punctured. Hope this helps✨

These joints have cavities filled with a liquid called synovial fluid that provide lubrication which allows for your bones to smoothly glide and essentially for you to bend and move your knee.
