Jolof rice is named after its place of origin which is Jolof Kingdom present day senegal. The Senegalese call it "chep" and the Gambian "bene chin". Jolof Kingdom rose after the fall of Mali empire.
The name says it all its was a senegambia creation but am glad we west africans are also having common things on food . I love west africa 🌍 ❤️
