I fostered a white greyhound and that boy shed so much hair. I brushed him almost every day to manage it!
The white hair seems quite different in texture... When they're moulting brushing is a daily practice in our house
Thank you for another helpful video. I just wanted to say that when I got my greyhound 18 months ago she had terrible kennel coat and almost completely bald thighs. She did not look good! After the end of winter and her spring moult she blew her kennel coat and everything else and ever since has been shiny and sleek. People often compliment me on how well I look after her. I brush her when she seems to need it, give her rape seed oil or salmon oil, feed her sardines and generally watch her diet. That's my part. The rest is all her own work!
Bless her, I do believe a good coat needs to come from within 😊
Your the best Floppy. Your my Buddy.
He says thank you 😍
Yet another fantastic, informative video. Thanks so much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I certainly find that my beautiful black greyhound Madge gets dandruff at times, and I do groom her when it seems she is molting, as I get a lot of black hair on my duvet! I give her a few bits of sardines in olive oil with her dry food, and that seems to keep her coat shiny and lovely. Thank you for this informative video, as always. xxx
It gets everywhere 🙄 glad you enjoyed the video!
Im a professional groomer of 15+ years and just got my first greyhound about a month ago. She had a kennel coat which has been getting better with regular curry combing using a zoom groom and rubber hand mitt. After a bath I lightly spray her with mink oil to replenish healthy coat oils and rub that in. During bath I use a shed less conditioner like furminatorand blow dry any loose coat. It’s my go to routine for shedding dogs with one coat type.
Thanks for sharing 😊 a bath can be great for lifting out loose hair
Oh they do shed! And then you have to Chase the naughty noodle around the yard trying to brush them coz everything is a game!,
Can't blame them for having fun 🤣
Our grey has lost his hair on his chest and neck... Along with the common bald hind quarters:(
Yes, those are other common places for bald patches 😟 I hope it sorts itself out for him 🤞
I am just the same as you, those pesky little soft hairs always find their way into my eyes! :)
They are so painful!
Hi. I find that my boy moults far more than my previous dogs did & being black, it’s more obvious. He had terrible kennel coat to begin with and bald patches and skin like fish scales.
He looked Oreo brown & fluffy, not really typical greyhound. He’s now mostly sleek & definitely black. I believe the bad skin was a reaction to being on a salmon based food... he seems to do best on lamb. Omega 3 capsules from the vet helped a lot.
However, he still sheds quite a bit & gets dandruff whenever I groom him, meaning I don’t groom much because I don’t want to stir it up. He gets dandruff (seemingly) as a reaction to even a small amount of a treat that isn’t lamb based, or plain biscuit. For the benefit of people reading this, his black hairs really do show up on the carpet too.
With grooming, I have tried a rake style blade, but was afraid of hurting him & it stirred up the dandruff badly. A normal soft brush is ok but doesn’t do a great deal. Ditto the rubber curry comb type. Have you any idea what I can use that won’t aggravate his skin? Thank you.🙂
Poor chap! Have you tried a grooming mitt like I show in the video? That's probably the gentlest option. Or use the rake very gently then follow with the soft bristle brush 😊
@@jwcaninecare thank you. I’ll try that. 🙂
This is so interesting. We had a predominantly white Greyhound that moulted non stop. I'm talking clumps of hair everywhere and having to hoover several times a day to keep on top of it. In your experience, is there a colour greyhound that moults the least?
I'm not sure, but white fur can be different in texture and thickness, plus differences can be found in whether it triggers allergies so there are definitely not all the same!
So many floofs
Its his superpower 😜
