As long as the level doesn't rely on anything that is AFOM specific (not including a few things that I have bothered to fix or update) - if it is made in AFOM v1 or AFOM v2 then it should still be playable.
If it does make use of AFOM specific objects - you can still try to play it, no guarantee it will be beatable.
As for characters, there aren't any that are planned to be added right now.
