Back in the 80's (yes I'm old) I made an ATV video transmitter from a kit and drove an RC tank around the outside of my house in the snow in the dark. I also have a TH-cam video of a different FPV RC truck tricked out with a can of wasp spray to get rid of the wasp nest in the attic. Mostly made it for a fun way to get rid of the wasps.😁
You could make a bigger version and a put a starlink mini on top, then you could put in the middle of some remote area and control from anywhere, that would be cool.
I LOVE this project. I'm absolutely NOT an expert in the matter, so take the following recomendation with grain of salt :D I believe getting the quad rotors lower when in flying-mode could greatly improve the stability. According to what I know, drones are very good at ballancing when their center of gravity is above their center of lift. This is because drones control for roll by accelerating the rotors on the side the drone rolls toward in order to bring it back up to level. When the center of mass is bellow the center of lift, this accelerates the drone's mass like a pendulum, and causes the drone to overcompensate. Then the same thing happens in occilation. When the center of mass is above the center of lift, this extra power has the opposite affect. The force, which is greater for greater roll, is matched with a greater and greater lever force from gravity. And as the lever force decreces, so does the power of the rotor, and eventually it returns to level without occilation! Thank you for making these awesome things!
But having the centre of mass higher reduces the stability. If the centre of mass is above the centre of thrust, the craft actually becomes statically unstable (though not unstabilisable), like an inverted pendulum, meaning the controller has to do more work. If the issue is the tuning of the controller then that should be what is adjusted.
Or if the issue is the rotation inertia of the craft, then moving the centre of thrust closer to the centre of mass may help, but the centre of mass should remain below the centre of thrust if stability is the objective
4:20 You're worried about Ice on the tracks how about all the ice that's literally raining down on your exposed pcb on top of the drone, watching that is giving me pure anxiety lol
yes was it really that complicated to print some enclosure for that :D also idk why hi not using angle/horitont mode for flying when that print have so much flexing on its own already it must be hard af to hold stable in acro mode
I can't see if you have a HUD, but if not, you should code something up for the display and add a battery indicator to the main screen. Speaking of which, you should set it up so that the main screen swivels out of the way. If you do it vertically like a gull wing door on a sports car, then it'll be significantly cooler too.
This reminds me of a project I did back in 2002 with an old X10 2.4ghz camera mounted on a toy RC car called the Ricochet. Range sucked but it was a lot of fun! Great idea and video!
Did you do something to waterproof the electronics? How does it not get fried by all that water? This is such an amazing design and build. I could see you setting up some kind of obstacle course with tasks that would make it even more like a video game. Thanks for sharing the fun with us!
A quick vacuum molded polycarbonate body on that thing and you're good to go. A little spray on conformal coat would go a long ways for now though This is an incredible design.
You could use this to make a live action horror game where you have a dark house or maze to drive through with a few of your buddies jump scaring you in the dark.

Bro u need better editing in ur vids
A couple of years ago, this would have been military grade tech.
Now anyone can have their own killer drone.
What a time to be alive

This certainly does look extremely fun.
Make it so the tanks has a gyro to transfer motion to your chair 😅

I'm sure that exposed circuit board is "waterproof".

Same

You would make Two separate one and turn them into tanks that can shoot, and have battle with a buddy either flying or on the ground
Oh man this is what i want on Christmas!!!!
Please Santaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!
Subbing to your channel was one of my smart 2024 decisions
Hell yeah, Michael dropped🔥
For the screen problem of the chair I'd recommend xr or vr glasses. Much more compact and immersive...
I’m anxiously awaiting that next video!!! Dying to understand how you’ve gotten the usb controllers to work. Great work so far!!!

this man is crazy .keep on buddy

Great idea and video!
You should keep upgrading this thing by addung toggleable head lights, flamethrower, powder bombs, fart spray and more!!!
freakin awesome! that is something i need some day in my life!
Brilliant work, dude! Nicely done! 😃
I just hope you don't live in New Jersey... 😂
Merry Christmas!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
parabéns pelo seu projeto , fiquei admirado pela sua sabedoria .....
Super cool!
Very cool! 🎉
It’s so cool
bro i love your video it is inspiring
This is so cool, Michael!! Very impressive. Where did you learn how to do this?
Very nice
Did you do something to waterproof the electronics? How does it not get fried by all that water?

Put an accelerometer+gyroscope on it and move your seat to that signal
since its a drone this stuff is already onboard
That's what the seat does in the previous build video, when he had it synced to some RC plane gyros :)
Can't wait for the next video
By the way - what type of filament were you using (the green stuff)?
Carbon Fibre PLA from Bamboo Labs.
A quick vacuum molded polycarbonate body on that thing and you're good to go.
A little spray on conformal coat would go a long ways for now though
This is an incredible design.
Amazing job , interesting invent but you can prepare a cover for its electronic equipment
great idea. if you could add 4g LTE connectivity you can explore random roof tops
well done thanks for sharing
Pretty cool
you ca also add a robotic arm, if the drone flips use the arm to position the drone.
Very cool !!!
This is STUPID COOL
Bro is really gunning for that LMT contract
Nice ❤
Are you using the trainer port to send command from computer to radio transmitter?
Make it so the tanks has a gyro to transfer motion to your chair 😅
realy nice guys
The video ended but we haven't seen it fly from the FPV chair?
How are you getting hdmi out from?
Sir, if i may ask which type of engineering course did you study?
Wouldn't it be better mounting a 360 camera and a VR headset?
I'm hella frustrated that you didn't try to fly it again.
Great video otherwise! Merry Christmas!
You could use this to make a live action horror game where you have a dark house or maze to drive through with a few of your buddies jump scaring you in the dark.
how does ur electronics not short out constantly due to snow
You are very smart😂
can you give us a electronic schematic for the drone? it's very hard to rebuild it when you don't have any idea how to put the electronics together
it might have been a good idea to also the fpv feed along side the others so we would see what you're seeing
I'd ditch the tracks and fit TPU treads around the wheels.
im gona need to see that bad boy fly son
It was flying in the previous video.
Need Walksnail system with headtracking 3-axis gimbal setup :)
Good Michael 🎉 congratulations for you your work is very interesting, i hope you support for Indians people, our Indian people is very intelligent 😮❤❤
Goon cave for the tank
👇Under 1 hr gang
I think we found the New Jersey Drone 🤣
Michael Rechtin post!
bem legal
well I hope you had BVLOS for this
FPV tank/UAV/hover lawn mower - it’s now a thing
Got here in under a minute
You dont need bigger light, You need wide angle lens
Maybe transmit sound and/or head tracking
leaf blower would have helped you clean your drone
You made an explorer robot
Fly chair man
10 missed calls from northrop grumman
🐢 mode 😂
Here in under 10 min
Except that the quad, at night, out of line of sight, in unsupervised fpv would generate all sorts of fines here, I want to do this :D
No flying... sad
Collab with projectair
FIRST!
not a tank. its a tracked vehicle
bro you made a dope drone, but a wack ass chair setup. That. aint. it.
