Overwatch 2 Player REACTS to Overwatch Story and Lore

- SO this was slightly overdue but I decided that I need to fully deep dive into the overwatch lore and to do so, I needed a little help so I decided to react to a video that does a fantastic job at explaining ALL of the overwatch lore up to Overwatch 2! I still have some questions and I think we can find those answers in future videos but for now:

you don't often see content creators this enthusiastic about deciphering the lore, most react to just the cinematics and some also watch the origin stories, but I haven't seen anyone react to the timeline before. as an Overwatch lore nerd, I love seeing the passion you have for the story! since it's so confusing unfortunately not many people try to understand it properly :/

Yes!!!! It’s really refreshing to see someone actually care about the lore and is interested in it.
Ramattra is the leader of Null Sector. At the end of the storm rising PvE event, there is a scene where doom fist, on behalf of talon was pitching collaboration and support to Null Sector.
The video is great but it lacks some key points that should have been mentioned, for example, at first Reyes was the one in charge of Overwatch but once the crisis ended they named Jack their strike commander, that's why, although they have known each other since the soldier enhancement program they went through, they began to drift apart in how they handled things.
Another very important thing to mention was that Gerard was investigating leads that lead to Talon's operations, hence why they tried killing him so many times, after failing all of them they instead kidnapped Amelie and brained washed her.
Yeah it was very unfortunate for Reyes because he just started to spiral downhill until Jack was unable to cover for him
There's something that's badly said in the video too: they credit Aurora for waking the omniums but I'm not sure that's true, that's not been confirmed. Aurora might have come afterwards, because at the time of the Omnic Crisis I believe it was only the God AIs or God programs, the ones in charge of the omniums, the ones that were somewhat sentient. The video didn't talk about them and about how they're still around, just contained, like Anubis.

great reaction. There are comics you could check out for more story and lore, but about specific characters lore I think you would have to read it on the Overwatch wiki page. I think there is also a comic that is about how the Overwatch characters spent their Christmas holidays, which I think would fit now very well to check out.
All imma say, and i've been saying this for years: We need a show, something like Arcane with the normal cinematic style or Edgerunners, more of that anime style like that Doomfist short.
Like you said I recommend you read the bio's about all the Overwatch characters which tell you more about each individual person's backstory. When you checkout voice lines I think the interactions between characters tell the most about a characters personality so I recommend you check those out. In the meantime there has been a new character added with a origin story which is Ramattra, the leader of Null Sector.
Yeah, Overwatch lore is messy and inconsistent but oh so fascinating. Hopefully, in the next couple of years, they will flesh the story out and make a more cohesive timeline for us. Thanks for the reaction, love your enthusiasm!!
i love this! your reactions are always so genuine and engaging. character wiki pages tend to offer more details into their backgrounds if you're wanting more details on anyone in particular! with so many of them, it's hard to include everyone in a single lore recap video. :')
oh yeah! looking into voiceline interactions might be something that's up your alley too! i'm sure you've heard some in game, but they do a great job at giving us fun little lore pieces and a better understanding of the characters!
With the new release of Ramattra, the new tank hero AND leader of Null Sector, we can now safely say that the group has good motives but may not be executing their plans the right way, as Omnics have been badly treated by humans, and their race is finite (meaning they cannot make more and are being hunted to extinction). Ramattra’s intentions were to make peace with humans and coexist with humanity, however, it was impossible due to how make people still refused to coexist with Omnics (like Junkers from Junkertown, and Russia) and so Ramattra formed Null Sector, and his goal is to protect his people and make a better future for all Omnics, whatever the cost.
So a little recomendation here: The Overwatch page, has a dedicated part to every hero, there you can learn about all the characters in a more In - Depth way!
The video is a bit condensed and lacking manyyyyyy details, but it's a good chunk of the lore though. The comics/wiki etc could fill many gaps and you don't have the Ramattra story in there ofc (which adresses your point at the end: Talon uses the tension with Null Sector to wreck havock, but it's just a tool for them, to further their plan of a "new world order". And we do know who's the head of Null Sector with his distinct purple color on him: Ramattra ^^. You've Null Sector units behind him in his origin story, at the end). So no, not a specific branch of Talon which operates more as an "overlord" organization to instigate chaos everywhere it can profits them and work with criminals everywhere (we've seen Ramattra first appearance quite some time ago, in a meeting with Doomfist, but they meet more like equals if I'm not wrong). And yeah, Lucio also have a story not told in there, Symmetra too, Zarya too, etc. You've the "main story ark", kind of, but there is so much more to discover, enjoy :)!

A ton of Overwatch's lore is told through comics, unfortunately. With Overwatch 2 PvE coming next year with a whole story mode/campaign, it'll be great to finally see all of the rich lore play out in-game. I'd love for them to do an animated series like Arcane and Cyberpunk, but I believe they're waiting to finish telling the story through that story mode before committing to a series. Sidenote, I love that you shouted out SVB, he's well appreciated among the Overwatch community, and does a ton of helpful videos for newer players to better understand lore and game mechanics :)
Hello, I know that this isn’t an Arknights video but I want to but it here. if you want to learn about the characters story or the main story itself or just lore in general I really and I mean REALLY recommend « QaiserMLG »’s videos, his channel is basically a lore channel for Arknights, and he explains everything very well, as someone who doesn’t read the story in game, I really recommend him.
