      I must say I do enjoy your open-ness to non orthodox ways of thinking. If only other people out there could see things from a different view once in a while.

      Reckless RedNeckRC "I must say I do enjoy your openness to non orthodox ways of thinking. If only other people out there could see things from a different view once in a while."
      I agree. Most people are so quick to deny the fantastic and put the universe in a metrically sized box. Which is a shame, because the more the fantastic, lines up with reality, The more amazing the universe is! Really enjoying your channel Beyond Science , thanks :)

      Reckless RedNeckRC I cannot say elves are real, but I believe. Science has some interesting things to say about different types of hominid too, which is fascinating.

      Reckless RedNeckRC Actually, most atheists are EXTREMELY open minded. We just won't accept just any old thing as evidence. There are extremely logical explanations to a lot of this. Also, considering the fact that humans as they are today have been around for around 200,000 years and we have ZERO pieces of evidence of the supernatural, is it really fair to call people closed minded because they're not convinced by a video and sketchy articles? The only thing from this list that has actually been verified is the last one.

    • @recklessredneckrc6969
      @recklessredneckrc6969 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yes it is fair. Due to the fact that I accept what you are saying but also would never close my mind to the fact that there are things we do not know nor understand, we learn new things and re-think old "facts" everyday. So tell me again how you are being open minded. I accept that you may be right, and there may be absolutely logical explanations, but I can also accept the fact that maybe there are things we do not know about yet or may never know about. Considering that our universe is billions of years old do you want to sit back and tell me that in what you think, and I will stress the words, what you think, is about 200,000 years, that we are a knowledgeable enough sentient race to know how everything works?

    • @JustCozItsMe
      @JustCozItsMe 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I believe similarly. Everything has its origins in truth and theres too much widespread stories from throughout history of alot of things most people consider fantasy. An example is all the stories about interference from what would be considered fictional creatures,and theres alot of these stories, that seems to have happened in modern times with the construction mentioned in this video. Instead of it being kings or lords having to find somebody to help with the troubles,it was a modern day organization.

    • @ricktheexplorer
      @ricktheexplorer 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I used to think it was weird to believe in elves, up until I TH-camd, "Irradiated wastelands of Northern India". Basically, 12k years ago was the 3rd civilization, and we are in the 4th. 12k years ago, there were a lot of Nuclear Wars going on in India, as described in the "Mahabharata"(200 B.C.) which reads like a science fiction novel, with space craft and aliens.. In india, they would pick up steel balls, thousands of years old, fully radioactive, and make "Damascus Steel". Once you realize the Mahabharata was really an account of history, you realize that all the other myths might be real as well. ANYTHING goes now.

    I totally believe in these "little people" my great grandfather told me and my family that one time he got lost while hunting alone.. He used to make trails to find his way back but something had happened to his trail someone/thing wrecked it. Or the rain washed it away. (Can't remember that part of the story)And was lost for 5 days .. On the 4th day lost he was sleeping in a small cave-ish thing when all the little ppl helped him.. By feeding him.getting him warm, and showing him which way to go. They helped him find his way.. If not for them he probably wouldn't be alive for as long as he was..
    He passed away when I was about 11 or 12 years old..
    I do not care if ppl believe me or him. As I know he was telling the truth because where I'm from there are quite abit of sightings from these little ppl throughout the years..

      Leah Meekis I do believe in elves, I would love to meet some, I think they control how and when we see them, though. They use GLAMMER which is a form of natural magic. Are you sure you are not part elf? Cause youre glammerous. Lol

      Leah Meekis I use to be an elf in a past life that married a beautiful elf from another tribe.Naturally our people were furious after one of the "family" members followed me to the cave (which was my wife and i's secret meeting spot) and he told the village elder who had ordered for her death.My wife's father at first didn't like me but once hes saw how distraught i was he felt bad and both tribes were fighting eachother outside the cave and i got shot by my own tribe for like a sylph elf.I was a dark elf in that life.

    I have to believe in elves...1 my Irish Grandmother always said I was a changeling ( I was born with my ears folded shut and had to be surgically opened) or maybe she was just saying I was ugly baby. 2 I have seen one within 2 feet of my face, he looked right at me and moved very quickly. 3 everytime I lean on a tree in the deep woods I feel like I am being absorbed by it, my brother walked right by me without noticing and I was wearing a hunter orange vest...maybe he is just not very perseptive. I get alot of interaction when I wander alone.

      Some things are too hard to explain scientifically to completely deny. A lot of "myths" and "legends" are actually based off true happenings. All the stories about Oberon's people have to be based on something, be it real-life faerie or whatever. I don't know if I'm a believer or not, but I do know there's too many unexplainable things out there for there to not be some truth to these legends!

    Having had seen two creatures in my life and I was tormented by one of them for 5 years of my childhood I can say without a doubt they exist. I am a very science minded and a spiritual person, but if you understand anything about other dimensions, the possibility of these creatures having the ability to cross between the dimensions is not so crazy. Any scientist who understands the theory of relativity can tell you that in other dimensions the laws of reality could be completely different, meaning, something that we would describe as magic in this other reality could really exist. I also think the ones that come over here usually have the ability to turn invisible, which would make a sighting very uncommon. (there are a few that have been caught on camera)
    Strap in guys and girls because now that were in the age of Aquarius our vibrations will be ascending sooner than we think. In the coming years sightings of supernatural beings will increase. I've recently started meditating on a regular basis and I can now see what I think are spirits zipping around my room at night, which makes sleeping at night kinda hard. That's my two cents on this subject.

    I find it attractive that you have an open mind. Whether they exist or not, you give a platform for “odd” stories. But you tell the stories as if you are open minded about that situation. Rather than saying “we’ve not seen them so it’s impossible that they exist” you tell the story like it’s at least a possibility!

    It's channels like this that I love, they explore the realm of possibility, without shoving the host's beliefs down your throat in an "accept it or get the fuck off my channel" vibe, but at the same time these sorts of channels make me sad, because it'd be great to watch channels like this that do their research and don't just rattle off stuff they've read on reddit or believe, but as they grow the law of averages states that as it grows more and more assholes are going to find it and shit all over it. I thin the coolest thing I've seen about this channel so far is Mike's interactions with the community. That's big, not a lot of channels have that anymore where they interact regularly with their audience. Keep it up Mike. You've earned my respect and I hope you're able to grow a great community full of love respect and one that's able to debate their opinions without hatred.

Anyways, here in Tunisia, old people believe in elves (my Mom included and she claims that she's seen 3 once) they're told to help people in time of need if you only call upon them (and you have to speak a certain thing to call them which I'm too scared to learn cause I'd freak out if I ever see any even though I believe in them). Keep on the great videos, Can't get enough of them and you.

    I live in upstate New York. Once, when I was younger, in my early teen years (13-14), a friend, his father, and I found some what looked like little people tracks in the snow in the forest. Now mind you, no other tracks were near these tracks. We followed the tracks and they led to a stump and just disappeared. It was quite strange and interesting at the same time.

    My dad's family was very poor when growing up, and my uncle (dad's brother) had to sleep in this room that was built outside of their home. That room was shared by my uncle and my his uncle. He said that sometimes at night, he would see small people playing a type of leap frog game, where they would jump over the other in a line.
    He said that he could see them play through this window that was right outside their room. The reason I believe this, is because of the way my uncle is, a very calm and soft spoken person.. Not someone to just lie about things.

  • @lauriemama

    Another interesting show. Thank you. I do believe in them because years ago when I was a child of about twelve I saw them. I lived rurally and there were many wild spots with water around were I lived. One evening I came out of the bathroom with a towel around me an stepped into my room. My window was open to catch the evening breezes. There was a sassafras tree growing right next to the house with a long arm coming down right next to the window. Something caught my eye and I looked over and there they were. It was a line of little men walking down the branch and stepping onto the window sill, walking across it and then jumping out of sight. I was paralyzed with fear. I sat down on the edge of the bed afraid to move a muscle but wanting to run. I assumed I passed out because I woke up at barely the crack of dawn with the towel still around me laying on the end of the bed. As God is my witness this is true. I believe it laid the foundation of my life long fascination with the paranormal.

    Hi Beyond Science , as always I just love your video's. I wanted to say I do believe in a race of pygmy people AKA Elves, it seems obvious that they are real cause we found the graves. However, I wanted to share an interesting story out of a book called, 'Strange Stories of Alaska and the Yukon'. I'm from Alaska so found it fascinating and you were talking about not believing in the X-mas elves, but I believe I may have found the connection between that fairy tale and the truth that lays in it. The story comes from an old newspaper article where a gentleman and his friend(s) come upon a race of pygmy's that live in a hill in the city that is known in North Alaska as (go figure) The North pole. This took place long ago, I think is was the late 1800's. It is an interesting connection to the fairytale of the Christmas Elves that we tell to our kids today.

    Me, my daughter and a friend went chantrail mushroom picking in the woods just out of town. The area is a small mountain that local people say has a lot of supernatural history, things like ufo, bigfoot and evil spirits. I have been to this area many times and have had a feeling i was being watched. Creepy feeling.
    This time i actually seen something, many small shadow moving between the tree trunks following us.
    I asked my daughter if she was seeing something. She say yea there shadows following us. My friend over hears us and says "dont worry their just waching us".
    If they leave and the woods gets silent, we must leave. I asked him what the shadows were and he said "elves and some small animals." Just then we find a huge patch of mushrooms more then enough to make the giant mushrooms lasagna. We went home and made dinner. Just another weird day in my life.

    If this subject interests you, check out the instances where the existence of faerie trees in Scotland and Ireland have forced building projects to be diverted around them due to the belief that if you touch them or destroy them you will die. They aren't crazy either; documented deaths involving people who touch or destroy faerie trees are real and can be found as well.

    My theory is that _if_ elves and dwarves exist (or existed), that perhaps interbreeding with our homosapien ancestors could be proven by being the cause of genetics for shorter height, or, more severely, Dwarfism.

    I typically pictured elves as around a regular humans height, but slightly taller/shorter. But what made it easier to tell differences was things like they would have stronger bones, or something. Like if we saw it alive (not dead) that they would be more agile, flexible, and slightly stronger then us.
    These seem more like Dwarfs too me. But, the forest parts do make them seem more like elves.

    I remember seeing little people since I can remember. I had a memory of me playing with a little person in my room late at night. I recall playing hot wheels with a little person. I remember his face very well, he had a very round face with emerald green eyes and he was 4 to 3.5 tall, he wear a Ancient Cree outfits. And I know I'm not crazy because my Grandfather is a Medicine-man also known as a Shaman and he told this group of little people to watch over me. But yes I do believe in Little people.

    I have several photographs of what can only be described as an elf or elve. I was photographing my poppies and there is a little green man that looks like a shadow because he's all the same colour. Guessing, he is about 8 to 10 inches tall and just strolling through my poppies in my garden. I didn't notice him at first not until I zoomed into what i'd previously thought was a shaddow. He has a tall hat on his head too, shabby jacket, what looks like trousers and webbed feet. His hand looks clawed, but his face is that of an old man. I was freaked out at first, thought I must be going crazy so I showed the pics to family and friends and as they zoomed in they jolted with shock.

Then if you would've make elves mad, they could have make your animals sick and make all kind of nasty pranks around the house. :)

      Video game lore, and lore from the real world vary greatly. Until you open your mind to the craziest of ideas, you won't see any of it as possible truth. There is more to this life on earth than checking our smart phones and trying to make money. Life was never intended to be about that way of life, only the material greed of bad people caused such a society on earth.

    Unfortunately #5 could actually be caused by a known evolutionary pattern. Since food is scarce on small islands, especially when there are many individuals, evolution can revert to the point where animals start getting smaller as generations go on due to the lack of caloric intake. This has also happened before with elephants. Thousands of years ago there actually puppy to dog sized elephants on an isolated island that came to be due to what I just mentioned.

Gnomes these aren't elves, elves are just a name given to then in Iceland... these are really gnomes, masters of hiding and are very jolly nice people most of which are only 1-3 feet tall. now as far as my research reaches these gnomes exist everywhere in different gnomish subspecies such as African gnomes which are like native Africans and Icelandic and European gnomes which generally are depicted as being small bearded gentlemen and ladies inhabiting holes and in Iceland have long hair and are like small fair people and live in small rock houses. these gnomes have lived along side us for many many years, now as i see it i think gnomes are pretty cool and i would like to meet one one day

    How would elves be able to survive and gather enough food without being seen? Unless they live in caves and eat rocks.
    To sustain a population you need a fresh source of water and plentiful and nutritious sources of food.
    I don't know where you would find that in North America that is not inhabited.

    • @gemaguevara1889

      TopGunPaintballer They live in another dimension. According to Irish legend, most live under hills or inside burial mounds. Their world is said to be more beautiful than words can describe. And you can find fresh sources of food and water in North America. Of course, you'd have to be careful not to be seen. I've also read that some spirits of nature eat plants.

    There are two elven stories from Álftanes in Iceland , Aka where i am from. 1. The is a small hill woth very tall grass the reason of that tall grass is because of elves. When people try to cut the grass the seem to dissappear in the ground and never seen again. 2. When you come to Álftanes you will see a big rock, that rock is known because people seem to say that elves live in it. One day construction works were going to destroy it but everytime they tried a house is the distance seemed to be on fire but everytime they got there the house was fine they went back and tried again and the same thing happend. The men asked locals what was going on everytime they got the same awnser. Elves. When the men heard this they stoped and left the rock alone.

    Depends on what you mean by elves. Elves in Scandinavia means spirits, or more specifically, aspects of human existence. Light elves are spirits, dark elves are bodies of the deceased. One is heavenly, one is chthonic (i.e. earthly). Hence the elves of Tolkien are based on human spirits, whereas the dwarves live underground (which is where you bury human bodies).

    I believe in beings like the elves and invisible people. I actually live in Wyoming and grew up on stories of the little people. A few years ago my mom and her friend were driving through a pass late at night, and mom was telling her friend about the little people and how you need to respect them. Her friend out right told mom that they did not exist. A few days later, mom's friend was driving through that same pass, and her car started to malfunction. The next time she drove through, she got a flat tire. This continued, as she had to use this pass to get to and from work, and it only stopped when she apologized to the little people.

    "Little People" and Elves are not the same thing, the typical "Christmas Elf" version of Elves that people have in their minds is from a post-Christian world view. Often times elves get confused with what people would call the Fae or your basic Nature spirits. But the Germanic mythology from which Elves originate refers to them as distinct and close in status with the Gods, they even have a distinct realm Alfheimr. So I assume their physicality and interaction with material existence would not be the type that would leave physical remains, as they are not earthbound spirits. I would even argue that Tolkiens depiction of elves is far more true to form than anything on this list. Now it is my personal belief that the ancient Germanic peoples looked at Elves in the same way that cultures all around the world think of Ancestor Spirits or even how Buddhists think of Bodhisattva's and just like Dwarves, there is nothing in Norse Mythology to suggest they are any smaller than the average person, this video would more aptly be called "5 Incidents That Prove Gnomes Could Exist" if I sound combative I don't mean to, just hoped to clear up some information as I find Little people and Elves to be extremely fascinating!
