    Fantastic review. The only mismatch I can see is that the Killerbody kit is for the GLX but those wheels are pure Workmate. I bought the body kit with the idea of fitting it to my Yikong LC70 but was dismayed at the number of sacrifices I would need to make. So now I'll have the Yikong and the Boom Racing LC70s, along with the beast in my garage.

    Nice wire tuck for the lights, very tidy! I really enjoyed this one, you have a talent for clean installs and cool scale details. I wish we had this Land Cruiser in the states but it never made it here. I look forward to the future comparisons! Don't know if I've mentioned it but I really appreciate that your music doesn't overpower the sounds of the cars or your voice over. My last comp was a bit of a disaster. I can only blame the driver for a couple silly mistakes 😂. I rolled off a side hill on the first course that I shouldn't have, and timed out on the challenging second course. Good learning and already looking forward to next month's!

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Whoa, big action last comp, eh? Sounds like you learned some more! (that's the good thing about failure - I came last in comps for a while when I started out, but after a couple of seasons was reliably at the top. Driving with better drivers is a fast path to improvement!)
      I think carefully about the music. It's hard to get the balance right but I appreciate the feedback, thank you :)

      @@RCTNT That's good to hear! We all start somewhere :). I was feeling pretty confident after middling last month, but this was a proper dumpster fire. Course 1 seemed like it would be tricky but ok. Gate 2 was a side hill I should have taken the low line and rolled right off onto the sand below. The truck lawn darted and stood right on its grill 😂. Someone picked it up before I had a chance to try driving out of it so I got points for rolling and reset. Then at gate 8 I asked how I was on time and he said, oh you ran out a while ago 🤦‍♂️. Then course 2 was really hard and most DNF'ed. I felt good about my DNF at least, and the organizer was my judge so I got a lot of great advice as a takeaway. Overall a rough day in the standings but still a great day

    An absolutely lovely machine that ticks all the boxes for me. It was a great choice of body for their first model as well. I was a little disappointed that the follow-up BRX02 will use the rather conservative (and common) body choice of a Land Rover Defender rather than something a bit more interesting though.

    • @RCTNT

    Oh how are you unlocking the front diffs? Through the transmission doesn't make sense to me? I guess what I'm asking is what parts are and where did you get them from?

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's done in the transfer case and it's all Boom Racing stuff. The diffs are locked full time, but the 2wd/4wd + front overdrive is achieved in the one transfer case. It's a great combination.
      See the Description here for my write-up on rc-tnt.com about this car. As well as explaining this very question in its own section ('But Wait, There's More!'), I've linked all the parts I used. One of my very favourite RC cars I own, easily 👍

    Great video, thank you. This is, for me, the coolest crawler out there. Just love the realism (if if others may outperform it on rocks). Since you also got the BRX02 - have you considered of making a comparison of the two? I don't mean like whether one is better then the other, but just to point out the relevant differences. I'd love to have one, but it really needs to have open diffs with option to lock... I noticed that the suspension is stiff, that can be fixed easily enough. 👍🏻

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The suspension is plush, IMO. I've got all the leaves on the market and these are the softest of the lot. That said, I've removed one leaf from each and it's about perfect :)

    That little truck looks amazing, not sure about the black rack on the back though, looks out of place and very unrealistic. I have been contemplating my next purchase, Carisma 2.1 Range Rover kit with a Killer Bodies Land Rover body as well or BRX02, now I have another to consider.

    • @RCTNT

      The tradie's rack is not uncommon round these parts. That's why I put it on - I like how it adds to the scale realism :)
      And that's the great thing about this hobby. If you build one, you'll skip the rack. Great! Your way is different to mine, it's all good. Cheers!

    Wow, have I been accumulating a serious amount of hype for this rig and your take on it.
    Neither the BRX01, nor the ultra comprehensive video have let me down! I've already rewatched the video a few times to take in all the info and details.
    I am a bit overwhelmed by the amount of aftermarket options, both from BoomRacing and Killerbody.
    I wasn't aware of the option to build it with open diffs right out of the box (if I understood correctly).
    Once that magic day arrives, that I finally bite the bullet with this, I might build mine with an open front and locked rear, for a nice compromise in performance, as I already did with my MST CMX Jimny.
    I would definitely have it with the leaf springs, although even with the optional parts you fitted to it (additional weight) it seems like the rear was a bit bouncy-jouncy. Is the leaf kit able to remove any leafs to make it a bit saggier and softer?
    Although being very scale, the performance is really surprising to me from what I could see in the rocks footage.
    Even with open diffs. Both stability, articulation (provided "scaleness" and suspension type design limitations) and steering angle were a very welcome surprise. I hope RC4WD paid attention when designing their TF3...
    I have been waiting for the scalers review since I started following your channel, and now we have the new generation from both BoomRacing and RC4WD coming, so I'm really excited for what's to come!
    Thanks for all the effort you put into it!

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it.
      Diffs are locked full time. There is no option to have them open. Sorry if that was unclear, I struggled to speak clearly for this one (edited the video down from about 90 minutes of talking! Some days I'm 'on' - and this wasn't one of them!)
      The transmission has the 2-speed shifting. The transfer case handles 2wd/4wd and overdrive (or dig, if you install it). I said transmission but the pictures show you the detail. I wrote a hefty article to go with the video - that also shows everything in detail with more pictures to help.
      Suspension is about right as is, but you could remove a leaf to soften it further, or install the shackle a little wider spaced. Or use heavier shock oil, for finer tuning on cycle speed. I like the stock config so far. Is good.

      @@RCTNT Thanks for clarifying that! I think the video was quite enjoyable and ultra-detailed on all the important fronts. It's very hard not to get sidetracked with details, especially with some rig like this!

      You can replace the front coils with a softer set and remove a leaf from the rear. I disagree with you a little, I've found these to cycle very well. That is with the benefit of many hours of driving with it at this point, which you can't get from one video. They also softened a bit with use.
      And I'll end by saying I've got (or have had) leaf springs in vehicles here from Tamiya, HG, gmade, RC4WD and even some generic ones. The boom racing ones are easily the nicest of the lot.

      Didn't take it as such. I like talking about these details, it's such cool gear! Scale suspension is an interesting problem too, because the calculations needed for scale movement involve quadratic equation rather than simply dividing by the scale model size. I readily admit I don't fully understand the maths of it, but a 1/10 scale vehicle needs to weigh something like a 500tg to 600th of the full size vehicle. It's interesting stuff.
