This is a cover of an Italian song, originally from Raf, same title, Laura also covered Umberto Tozzi's "Gloria", Italy had a decent music scene in the 80s, better than now, IMO

That reminds me of the 80s in NYC. Sneak out of the house in Brooklyn take the subway to Manhattan. You could end up in a hardcore punk club, new wave concert, crazy diner and real freak show in the subway heading back home before parents woke up. Thank God I survived.

Omg same!! Except I lived in Manhattan in Washington heights and we would take the subway downtown after sneaking out and go to the Limelight, Palladium, Webster hall, damn it was so different in the late 80s and early 90s, but I also think to myself, a lot, thank god I survived, now that I’m an adult I can see how dangerous and risky it was to sneak out at 14-17 years old and go clubbing and drinking on our own, and riding the subway at ungodly hours after sneaking out, our parents having no idea, it’s truly a miracle nothing bad ever happened to us.....

I relate to this song. I'm a night person and happily lived alone in Fulham, London, in the eighties. At least four times in the week I'd be out late in clubs and bar lock-ins. I came alive at night and many times socialised with "not your-run-of-the-mill" people. Always managed to get to work in time after a few hours sleep. God I miss those days.

Laura was an AMAZING artist, may she Rest In Peace. Her (4-octave) voice was incredible! If you want to see where her voice truly shines, check out “Solitaire.” It’a a slow build to some incredible vocals. In fact, she holds one of the longest notes in pop history near the end of it. Gives me chills every time I hear it! ❤️❤️❤️
I also recommend “Shattered Glass,” “Ti Amo,” “The Lucky One,” and “The Power of Love,” yes, the Celine Dion song, originally sung by a Jennifer Rush, and then covered by Laura, and then Celine. Jennifer’s and Celine’s are beautiful but too polished, Laura’s is grittier with more emotion, and my favorite of the three because of it.

The guy in the mask represents the "night" During the day she is fine. At night though she has no self control. She gives into the nights wishes of wherever you end up you end up. It's a metaphor for any fantasy you can come up with, can be found during the night. Sex, drugs, and rock and roll doesn't happen at 10am it happens at 10pm.

Nothing is better than watching someone try to make sense out of an 80s video 🤣 they are just like a 4 minute perfume commercial..sit back and just enjoy..they have nothing to do with anything 😅

I'm sure I am not the only one who has mentioned this ... but "back in MY day" there was a show called Night Flights and it aired on TBS or something like that. Competition for MTV. Anyway, when this song first came out, it seemed like Night Flight (Nite Flite) was the only thing showing it. I would wait and wait for this to come on because it was such a great song and she was great and the video was great .. if I wasn't in the room when it finally came on, I'd go running down the hall and do my Tom Cruise slide to the front of the t.v. It was awesome, the 80's. Mock it all you want, but some of us oldsters who love your channel, love you for loving our music.

Its such a powerful piece of music in its own right, and then Laura Branigan just adds so much to it. I can listen to it when I'm in any mood.
It can be a song about an ex, or even just a cope song. Its the latter for me, the creatures of the night is other people lol.

Please listen to a similar song by Belinda Carlisle called "I Get Weak" about a female who is bedazzled and bamboozled by her boyfriend. She is totally confused about whether she is in an abusive relationship or not. I like other Belinda Carlisle songs but "I Get Weak" is my absolute favorite song of hers.
