@@TheStupendousWave Very true, but we have to take into account that Yoda spent like 870 of his 900 years of life in more or less complete peace, while Anakin spent most of his life on the frontlines. Few Jedi actually died young. If we argue straight facts, Yoda kind of only took L's throughout the series, and he didn't beat Dooku conclusively which Anakin did. Honestly, there's very little Yoda has done in Star Wars that Anakin hasn't surpassed by a landslide.
If we for example think back to the Dooku vs Yoda fight, Yoda interrupts the fight and lets Dooku get away to stop the metal construction from falling on Obi-Wan and Anakin, which is impressive, but that he had to tap as hard into the force as we see him do to do so compared to how Anakin stopped that ship from taking of roughly 10 years later. Idk about the weight of that metal, but I think the pounds of force of that ship taking off is most likely greater than that metal thing even if we take various hypothetical anti-gravity thrust systems into account.

Yoda has a reverse height advantage.
I wouldn't worry about losing an arm, i.e. against a tall opponent like Dooku.
You'd likely find both your legs gone at the knee in a few seconds of dueling Master Yoda.
Now that you mention it with his speed and size yoda could take out limbs in a flash.
Once your legs are gone, so are your arms and head as it still causes a state of shock even with a lightsaber.
Bruh Yoda is so short you would think he would take your legs. And yet... When the storm troopers came to surprise him from behind... FROM BEHIND... He decapitated them both before they could even attempt to betray him.

In a serious duel, Yoda would simply take away his saber from his hands like how he did to Ventress.
Anakin was quickly disarmed in his fight with Dooku, and against Obi-Wan he didn’t even have a leg to stand on.
He gave dooku a hard time more than obi wan did , dooku has beaten Obi wan but during his fight with Anakin even through Dooku cut his arm but he was exhausted after his fight with Anakin

Anakin was unconscious during Yoda's duel with Dooku
Considering George Lucas was worried he wouldn't be able to pull off Yoda and Duku fighting and make it believable for the audience, I don't find it all that surprising that Anakin would think along the same lines especially before seeing him in a fight.
Anakin thinks Yoda would just be overpowered due to his small size, or kept constantly out of reach of his foe while being inside the reach of his opponents due to his own small reach.
And these are real disadvantages Yoda has to use the force to overcome, force ability that could otherwise be used elsewhere in the duel if he wasn't as small.
Basically, Anakin's is either underestimating Yoda's ability in the force, or the forces ability to account for these weaknesses.

@@011mrq7 I have no idea what Dumbledore could do with the elder wand, but even without it I don't know if Anakin could block a kill curse or if light sabers effect spells. There is a chance he would sense the wand is super dangerous through the force and try to use the force to remove it from Dumbledore, if he was successful I think he would win, otherwise I think Dumbledore has this with or without the elder wand.

Jedi's are powerful, but the wizarding world has a few characters that rival sidious. However, we'd really have to think about how the force would react to magic. Vader can use the force from anywhere to choke people, but wizards can literally teleport.
Any lightsabers will quickly be turned into snakes or turds or dildos.
Ah teenagers. Too bad yoda didn't use a fraction of his powers to defeat anakin then in seconds. But good prodigies always overestimate themselves when they don't see the true power of their teachers to understand how much they have to learn to become skilled enough to reach that level.

Only major differences between the 2 are: Dooku was royalty, Dooku was the talent and the hard work and Dooku always held himself to a high standard. Always in control of his emotions, having way less outbursts than Anakin had.

to be fair, anyone who didn't understand the jedi or how the force works would also assume the same about Yoda based on his short stature and old age... with that said, anakin was definitely speaking out of ignorance and saying things that make me feel like he was starting to drift towards the dark side at the time.

Yoda most likely knew Anakin felt this way about him (I'm sure over centuries many padawans have) and judging Yoda's personality from what we've seen over the years, he was most likely incredibly amused by it. He knew who and what he was but was humble, but Yoda also had a sense of humor. Probably thinking "awww bless your heart, kiddo lol..." 😂
The difference is that Anakin was the only student in the orders history to have a higher midichlorian count then The Grand Master so Yoda being a high potentialed individual himself would of been perfect for teaching Anakin combatively in practice duels based on real life one on one fights and even against multiple high master opponents both with the force and the blade yeah.

@@krizula1117 yeah plus yoda was moving with a cane and naturally never went all out with the students so anakin was thinking he got the title out of respect for experience instead of being the jedi's strongest fighter. It is reasonable and what most gifted teenagers would think if they don't see the true power of someone.
@@krizula1117Anakin should of tried to lightsaber spar with Yoda both with practice sabers so no accidental cripplings or killings happened and both have real life practice duels after all Yoda was the best of the best with both a blade and the force in the order for combative purposes when need be yeah.

Suggestion: Use Grenades, Sonic Screamers, Cluster Rockets and Plasma Charges, Mines, Gas Attacks, activate any energy shields you possess, try to snipe him and use cover, and attack him indirectly. Kill his allies, or place them in jeopardy. And do not over plan the assassination of Yoda.

Anakin is hardly alone as a young man suffering from arrogance. It is something I'd say a majority of us deal with to some degree. At least in certain areas of our lives. You only learn to see it when you get older or get humbled. Think back to your teens back talking your parents because you thought you had it all figured out. That kind of thing is pretty universal. The only real question is exactly how arrogant you really are or were. Anakin suffered the brashness and arrogance of youth and he fkd around and found out. Stuff like that is what makes the writing in these shows so good. The depth of these characters is almost unmatched.

Yoda's Ataru offense is that of Three Jedi knights attacking at different angles, and his defense is a unique weave and simple if he wanted to, yet he knows what is best for him.

Though it is worth noting that if proper contact sparing isn't used in a Martial Arts school then those same lessons can get you killed. Every technique works on a complying opponent after all. And a real one isn't going to comply unless you force them to

That's why Yoda was scared and rejected Anakin Skywalker joining the council members, nor cos he join the sith, but he doesn't want a kid to outshine and steal his seat at the head of the table
To be honest in Episode Three they should of had Anakin battle Dooku by himself with Obi Wan pre occupied fighting Grievous that way each have both fair one on one fights without interuptions or disruptions hopefully but before that have Anakin have real life training sparring matches with lightsaber combat and force powers with Yoda because if Anakin could beat Yoda one on one on even ground in those sparring matches then that could determine Anakin was ready to fight and beat Dooku with moderate difficulty because Yoda was the only Jedi that was able to best Dooku in both force sparring and lightsaber sparring matches even by TPM Era and Dooku And Yoda got even better at it as time went on yeah.

Honestly this reminds me of ATLA how Zuko’s fire-bending was sourced through his anger and muscles. Then when Zuko and Aang learn the true understanding of fire-bending, he actually became MUCH stronger than he ever could be, had he continued to only use muscles and anger.

People seem to forget that Anakin was 22 in ROTS. The guy was already arguably top 3 in the order with a saber at 22. How good would he have been when he got to kenobi's age or Windu's?
Anakin was correct on one point. Theory is sifferent from IRL, street level. Grew up military, dad was my instructor on self defense. 22 as a marine, black belt in 2 disciplines. We're both average height, he goes 160, I'm around 200.

I cannot say the teachings of the Jedi would ever be a style i consider worth my time. I rely upon no one honestly so i couldn't do so. The same philosophy that martial artist practice in the offline world is similar to those shared by Jedi. To silence emotions is not strength but weakness to me. To work in tandem with your emotions in harmony is true strength. I couldn't say stature is something making a difference and on that Anakin was very wrong but to silence your inner true self instead of wielding it in harmony with all else is weakness.
It's interesting that Anakin would have dared to question Yoda's size when he himself was a great podracer even though he was so young. How much of a difference does he think advanced age makes for making someone weak? In any case, Yoda seems to have taken the Force Lightning from Dooku and used it to give himself a special adrenaline boost(or something similar) for the battle.
Anakin was a teenager at this time, and I would say this was his state was more so out of ignorance than it was arrogance. Please keep in mind master mace window, and master. Obi-Wan did not want Anakin to advance in his force powers, so there were many things he did not understand.

He was correct as it pertains to FLYING. IF he was right on any of the Masters' fighting styles it had to do mostly with their styles. Would assume Yoda, has trained.. an sparred with. Basically any an everyone couple times. From what we've seen.. Anakin was TOTALLY WRONG about Yoda's abilities seeing as Yoda battled Dooku very well an either woulda caught or ended Dooku had he not escaped via a distraction. After Anakin wasn't proved able to handle him in Ep2.

As someone who took martial arts for a long time and tried hard to find the most effective ones (grew up in the third ward, you want every advantage) I can agree with anakin. In real life practice is not putting into practice. Aikido is useless because no one is riding a horse into battle anymore. Boxing is great to know for form on punching but are you going to use it? No, Muay thai is excellent utilizing everything at your disposal. The only thing I dont agree with him on is speed and power. I've seen plenty of large strong people be put to their knees by people half their size not because they were weaker, because they lacked application and knowledge and put themselves in the exact scenario that wouold lead to their defeat.
My only goal wpuld he to draw the fight out. Tax his endurance, and dont let it become a force duel, keep it to blades.

Yoda's record 1-1-1 beat ventress, tied Dooku, lost to Sidious. I would say Anakin saw Yoda's flaws more than most. Arrogance was the flaw of many Jedi.

Sideous resorted to throwing the senate at yoda after he got disarmed. Which means Sideous lost the "lighsaber duel" even if he won the overall fight (and even that is debatable)
The real irony is that in a real life sword fight, Anakins point of view is pretty true.

I don't usually side with Anakin, but i tend tobsee at least a small bit of his reasoning here. The Jedi were not warriors; many of them practiced lightsaber combat merely as a component of Force training, and meditation, like katta, and while this certainly isnt nothing, many never actuality tested that skill in real, consequences-for-failing battle. The Masters, and the Council, even less so. They werent even on the streets, performing Jedi business, but doing things in the Temple. The Sith had been gone for centuries, and few Jedi ever even expected to see another lightsaber-wielding foe, or real battle. I feel many of the "Generals" of the Clone Wars learned this the hard way, as they were now thrust into conflicts well beyond the scope they had trained for. Not to say Anakin was right, but it's not hard to see his side, in ways. Even Yoda had never seen a Sith, or seemingly battled such foes, nor did he seem to dedicate effort to hining his bladework for real combat; he'd rather talk his way out, or orherwise avoid it, and that was sensible, bit could easily color Anakin's perception. Mace Windu and Dooku were both amazing, but a whole element of that was that they elected to devote such effort to lightsaber combat, when most Jedi would have seen no reason to, or even thought it courting violence.
Still, glad Anakin DID learn his lesson, as the likes of Dooku, Windu, Yoda, and Sidious would have spanked him in a "real duel", no matter hiw amazing the "Chosen One" had been led to, ir chosen himself, to believe.
Even in a sparring match Anakin PRE ROTS would of lost to them one on one on fair ground yeah.

"Give me strength and power any day," coming from a man who’d become a 7 foot tall cybernetic monstrosity, with strength enough to lift a grown man over his head with one arm, and crush a lightsaber hilt in his bare grip, but weaker in the Force than he'd ever be in his life.
It's a crime how they made Barriss Offee younger with next to no connection to Anakin in The Clone Wars, all because Dave Filoni wanted a younger student that Ahsoka could be with which as always it's him changing established media to fit his own story rather than continuing off of what other writers have done.
I would've loved to see Anakin saving Barriss aswell as both respecting each other, as i never knew they both were friends and at the same age as The Clone Wars acted like they were both completely different character who have never met (which in a way is true) so it's a shame they never followed the stories of what came before.
So... Yoda's inherent weakness is his lack of reach and physical strength. To compensate for this he uses Ataru in a way that almost mirrors the aggression of Juyo, allowing him to get in on opponents and use the momentum of his attacks and flourishes to put extra power behind his strikes when needed. But there is a weakness to doing this in and of itself, and that's the fact that such a heavy, all-out use of Ataru is taxing on one's stamina. This basically means that Yoda needs to win quickly, otherwise he will eventually tire himself out, even with using the force to bolster his stamina. Thing is, in order to take advantage of that you'd have to last long enough against a flying green buzz saw.
Which means that of any of the Jedi, Obi-Wan is the most likely to beat Yoda thanks to his mastery of the defensive form of Soresu.
Even worse for yoda because we are pretty sure that he uses the force as steroids to make him able to move that quickly when he needs a cane to just walk when he isn't in these hoover chairs floating around. Once he gets tired, it's all over.

Yoda knew lightsaber theory and was an amazing duelist in real life battles. Anakin's belief about Yoda being a good instructor but not a good real world duelist was true about Master Cin Drallic though. For being the primary lightsaber dueling instructor of the Jedi Temple he sure got his ass handed to him quickly

Yoda is one of the greatest Jedi Masters in history and the strongest Grandmaster in history
Yoda still has a major flaw, he uses form 3 which requires the user to use the force to amplify their agility to best utilize the form at all, which is very draining and taxing on an older user of the form, so all a duelist has to do is outlast Yoda stamina wise and be younger than him and you could defeat Yoda, may take awhile to do so but it can be done

@@cantdestroyher7245 Are you sure about that? Many from the age of the old republic could run him through. Many force users of that age saw a lot of combat.
It's the same concept of military training. I'm an Infantry veteran, and I can easily say that everything you are taught in OSUT/Basic isn't the stuff that you use in real firefight. All the training is for you to get physically stronger and to get your body ready to do remedial actions. Stuff like raising the weapon, firing, clearing a malfunction, reloading, switching weapons, and other stuff like that. Yet does that make the Drills only good in teaching? Nope. Not one bit. They 99% of the time could whup up on ANYONE they are training.
And on top of everything? Yoda is 870ish years old when Anakin says this. By the time of episode one there had been no serious sightings of sith for 1000 years. No, Yoda may not have fought Sith in his younger years, but I can 100% bet he's fought dark/fallen/errant Jedi that weren't Sith but so badly wanted to be one.

I usually take the personal thoughts of SW characters seriously but I don't take anything of what Padawan Anakin thought. That guy had an ego and an obsessiveness bigger than the Eiffel tower, no logical thinking or gratitude.

Honestly I will always be skeptical of someone’s skill until I see them applied in combat . Been to too much mcdojo’s to not side with Anakin on this .

Anakin made mistakes, which his son never did. That’s why Luke became not only the strongest Force User, but also the best duelist there ever was. Anyways i do think that in ROTS , Anakin could go toe to toe with Yoda and maybe win. If you’ve ever played the ROTS videogame, then you know that Anakin fought Mace Windu and Mace lost. I would say that this would make Anakin the same league as Palpatine and Yoda. Not to underestimate Obi-Wan, but have not he had Plot armor and have not Anakin be so arrogant, then he would get killed and Anakin would really become more powerful than Sidious or Yoda.
Anakin may be harsh, but he's not wrong. Yoda does have many handicaps in terms of lightsaber skill. Of course I know better than to judge solely on handicaps, but it would be foolish not to consider them. Especially when reach alone is historically the strongest determining factor in battle. Yoda is all too familiar with his shortcomings, so chose his fighting style and specialization in force abilities in order to compensate for his weaknesses.
