Very unscientific … place a speed sensor on the rear tire and get them to the same speed and use a stopwatch. To me it appeared you gave the DT Swiss and the 1/1 a little extra … use science
I know this isnt super scientific, just wamt to ad some input. Dt has 4 extra spokes, just like a flywheel that could let it spin longer. I could keep going but it's a rabbit hole I don't care for. I would still take a dt swiss over an I9.
@@spicymountainbike currently I‘m running slx hubs with lots of deadstroke when hopping on the backwheel. I think it would be a nice upgrade for me. But the price is ridicolous
I got the hydra enduro s wheel on sale from thunder mountain bikes in Sedona. I think it was $485 on sale for the complete wheel. The benefit are the straight pull spokes. They really improve the ride quality and they don’t make a pinging sound over bumps and they haven’t come loose unlike j bend. So far my biggest gripe of hydra is the drag and the pedal kick back on bumps because of the instant engagement.
Yep, that was my guess...
I sometimes put the 18T on for less suspension "hubjack" on certain trails, a huge 2nd benefit you can feel as well.

Also the dt has the ratchet that spins longer than the i9 which has the pawls that drag pretty bad
I like to do trials stuff with my trailbike, so the i9 hydras are a no brainer 4 me
Yeah for sure that instant engagement is hard to beat. But it’s not as much of a advantage as you might think!
