Such a huuuuge pain in the ass. I've never worked on a bike that is as difficult as this to flip the chip. Definitely not a trailside feat!
It’s definitely not a trail side feature that’s for sure. Too many small parts fall down inside the frame cavities.
just so you know it workes a lot better with a seringe
👍
Not the only issue with maguras. They also like to piston drag. No matter how you clean them or what you try, sooner or later, usually sooner, you’ll get a piston that doesn’t retract, and drags.
When they drag or don’t retract it’s because there’s air in that particular piston. Whichever one is dragging, press it in to send the air up to the lever and let the bubbles out during a bleed. Air in the pistons causes them to push out towards the rotor. Thanks for the comment.

Megatower in Matte Nickel?
Nope 2023 5010 in matte gray.
Get the mt5 and put oak components levers on em. Cheap and rad
I’m about to order those. I have heard of those before. 130$. They have black, silver and gray. I think I’ll order black.
I know this isnt super scientific, just wamt to ad some input. Dt has 4 extra spokes, just like a flywheel that could let it spin longer. I could keep going but it's a rabbit hole I don't care for. I would still take a dt swiss over an I9.
Also the dt has the ratchet that spins longer than the i9 which has the pawls that drag pretty bad
You know you can fit the HC3 lever onto the mt5? I’ve just done it 😂
That’s funny I’ve been wanting to try that. Thanks for the tip!
@@spicymountainbike Just need a punch to hammer the pin out and then put the new lever on and hammer the pin back in. I tried finding a hammer with a plastic hammer end which wasn’t a mallet. Ended up just using a bottle cap on the end of the hammer.
I just got a Magura lever changing kit. I tried some oak components root levers but I didn’t like them. Should’ve just ordered hc3 levers for my mt5 instead.
I do very similar after a bleed except I do it with a syringe and loosen the lever on the bar so I can move it around and get the air to come up to the bleed port. Bit of gentle push/pull on the syringe as well to get any air out. Same principal different method
What do you recommend? 1 or 2 token ? What is your recommended pression inside?
I recommend just 1 token. I put 2 in the time of the video but I took 1 out. The ideal suspension has been with just 1 token. I use 55 psi in my forks. I weigh 160lbs. You can run the forks soft so they handle better with 1 token.
What?
Aaaaaaaaa🎉

Amazing work bro! Keep it going!
Thanks man more vids coming soon!
dope man keep doin what you love
That means a lot thanks for that comment. I’ll keep it going!
Step 1: pour it in 🤦♂️
Nice!
Thanks!
I use peatys degreaser for my mech because it doesnt contaminate my breaks if you need a recommendation. They also do great cleaning products and lubes for chain
Never heard of it but I’ll check it out. Thanks man!
bro I was always covering my disk brakes with a towel. It would get wet and eveyrthing. I never thought about a plastic bag. U just changed the way I will clean my bike thanks man
Glad the video helped you out! I wrapped 3 bags on there because sometimes those Walmart bags have holes in them. It works a lot better than the old towel! ✌️
Looks like some cool trails, you still rockn the 5010.
It’s a fun spot to ride. Still got the 5010. It’s still my favorite bike. Next video will be with the 5010 for sure.
Q productos usaste para limpiarla ?
Utilicé un cepillo de dientes, una toalla de microfibra y un spray desengrasante simplegreen.
First time I rode one, I thought it cornered weird. Then I realized, I was coming into corners MUCH faster. Their ability to roll obstacles is incredible.
You know I thought the same thing at first but yeah the corner speed is insane and the traction in turns is substantially better than my 27.5. Actually the entire ride has become incredibly better. Climbing is slower than 27.5 but a lot smoother with better traction. I’ve only ridden that bike one time so far and it’s still the best ride I’ve ever had since I started mountain biking in 2015.
Hey guys I hope you enjoy this video as much as i enjoyed the ride
@DestinationDiariesAI-s3c El Paso Texas. You can find the trails by searching the trail names in the video.

What’s it called mate? Where’s it from? That’s smart as!

Hey can u help me with my maguras they just don’t work I tried bleeding I don’t know what to do anymore I’m not a brake expert I’m new to this I have no idea what to do
I have some other videos on bleeding the maguras. If you got oil on your pads you will have to replace them first before you can bleed the brakes. All you need to do is put the funnel in the bleed port on the top of the brake lever and put oil into it and squeeze the lever repeatedly until all the air comes out. Go ride and then repeat the process. Eventually all the air comes out. Watch some of my other bleed videos g.
manual from mt5e-stop says, Max 1.8 mm thickness rotor, all magura rotors are 2 mm, now my brake is touching the pads. how can i fix that ? it's braking already if i not brake. can somebody help me ?
You have to have it exact. Theres not much room.
Are there flip chips on both sides like left and right, because my flip chip feels loose. When i pick up my bike i feel it and when i put my finger on the flip chip i can feel it moving
Yes you have to flip both sides at the same time. If it feels loose check your bolt and make sure it’s tight and that you didn’t lose the washes that are on the side of the shock body.
Be careful reducing pressure past 30% sag, past that point and you are just reducing your travel and making your fork feel stiffer even though the air pressure is lower. Also the pike can take up to 6 tokens
I had 2 tokens but then removed 1. It’s been pretty good with 1 token but I’m not too impressed with the new pike. It’s too flexy and I can hear some kind of metallic cha Ching sound when I jump at certain angles. I should’ve gotten the lyrik 140mm fork.
Thats one small ass head 55cm lol
👍👍👍👍👍
🙌
Just quick bleed to vacuum the air out, it works within 3-4 times doing it. My first time owning magura MT5’s and i was able to do it fine, no need to wait and ride around first, just fill 15ml of royal blood and syringe with hole at 30mil, pull up on lever bleed port to vacuum out air, much easier.
How did you know i literally have a big ass head?(60+)
🤯
Just bought the mt7 with HS3 leavers and 200mm rotors for £300, but then seen a friend of a friend riding the Lewis brakes and they are absolutely gorgeous!
Yeah the Lewis are ok but you’re better off with the Magura hc3. He’ll probably end up getting maguras too eventually.
Nice video. The 1/1 sounds pissed off, I like it 👍🏼
Thanks man. The 1/1 is definitely my favorite hub
Mt7 pro and mt7 raceline, both with hc-w lever..
Mt7 with hc3 and mt race line with HC lever.
Never ride an alloy rim without a Tannus Armour insert.
For sure man tannus is great. The only reason I use cushcore over tannus is that you can ride with a flat with the cushcore. I do prefer tannus otherwise
@@spicymountainbike I’m 60, so ole Skool. Always ridden with inner tubes. Never will trust a tubeless setup, so now I ride with self healing inner tubes and a Tannus Armour insert. I’ve only ridden it with a flat ONCE and it got me home, no problem but I wouldn’t do it again.
@user-ot2qg8np8y 60 is not too old for tubeless. You’ll enjoy riding a lot more with tubeless installed. I still use tubes in my dirtbike though.
Not recommended. Bleed properly to get tge best braking possible.
great color
lol thx. So yes both sounds are great. But talking about pedal efficiency, who’s the winner?
1/1 feels lighter and more efficient even though it has Abec 3 bearings and the hydra have abec 5.
@@spicymountainbike interesting. Thx!
🙌
Santa Cruz is kind by a holdings group. I think it’s Pon holdings. They own several bike brands.
Can’t blame them.
I’d stick to 27.5 for the 5010. I have the 5010 v4 and I converted the 140mm fork to a 150mm travel fork and it just rides really good.
If I hit 1000 subscribers I’ll change mine to 27.5 with a 160mm fork.
thanks for the video mate i should have watched this first i just did this on my 5010 and it was a nightmare 45min muck around
I think it took me an hour the first time I tried it. It’s hard not to let the pieces fall down inside the linkage. Thanks for the comment! Glad you found this video!
Hello! What is the size of your helmet? small or medium?
SMALL
@@spicymountainbike What is your circumference? (Sorry, I want to base it on my size)
@@spicymountainbike My circumference is 55.5, but I'm afraid the helmet is too shallow (it won't sink inside the head)
@allanleal I’m at about 21.7”. I’m in between medium and small but the small fits very good. The speedrame pro fits a little big I think.
Try the medium. It will sink onto your head more.
Nice review. Do all versions come with that magnet strap?
Thanks man. Yes all the versions of the PRO have the magnet. It’s really worth it.
@@spicymountainbike Thanks for the reply. And you 100% have the best colorway! I don't like the new one's on the site with the small fox logo. I measured my head yesterday and it came to 21.5 inches. The small size of the Fox Speedframe Pro helmet measures 20.1 - 21.7 inches and the Medium measures 21.7 - 23.2 inches. Should I opt for the Small or the Medium? I will be buying the same colorway you have but I will have to purchase via eBay since it's discontinued everywhere else. Only bad thing is the seller doesn't accept returns so I'm taking a risk. Thanks in advance if you can give advice. I'm new to this biking thing and haven't had a helmet since I was much younger.
Yeah the other colors are ugly. That’s the only problem with the helmet. Go with the small size. Thanks dude!
@@spicymountainbike Thanks for the advice! Stay safe out there 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
@jeremyjackson8643 thanks man you as well 🙌
Nice, I’ll have to try the Velcro strap! I noticed it’s much easier to get the bolt out when I lift the rear tire and take the weight off that bolt too.
Yeah you gotta wiggle it a little bit!
I’m having some trouble flipping the chip. How do you easily access both sides? I got one side out then couldn’t push out the bolt. Barely got the right side back in after.
I’ll make a video for you. I actually figured it out after a lot of suffering. It can a nightmare but I’ve gotten to where I can change it in 1 minute flat. Stay tuned for a video.
@@spicymountainbike thank you!
I have magura mt 7 pro and its the best brake i have ever riden
I agree!! Can’t beat MT7
None, they all suck. I had my Madura brake for a day, and I already had a master cylinder leak. I was riding at the beach.
What oil to you use?
Magura roil blood
I have the Raceline MT7 with the HC3 levers. There is tons of adjustability! Been riding them for about a month and still dialing them. 30 years of MTB and these are probably going to be the best breaks I’ve ever owned. Still need a couple seasons on them.
I also have the raceline mt7. Love the neon color. I just need another frame to put them on. Yeah man the hc3 are amazing levers and they’ll last you a lifetime. For some reason I just keep going back to the hc levers.
