The prices are what is generating most of the push back.
@@onebridge7231 and they should be. Prices are stupid crazy
I Purchased a 2009 XLT FX4 F-150 with the 5.4 in February 2009. It was $36637 out the door. It qualified for the Federal tax credit that year. That is about $54K in today's dollars. An XLT FX4 today is about $54800 OTD. I don't see where prices have changed like many claim.
@davidporter7051 very solid poi t
@@davidporter7051 Every single time I do the inflation calculation I end up with the same results as you. People are living in a fantasy world. Inflation spiked so fast in the last many years, people are noticing that on price tags where they didn't previously notice the slow inflation creep of ~ 2% a year. Their anger is then misplaced, very loudly.
I've done the calculation on previous vehicles I have owned and it surprised me that in all cases I am getting more car now than I did then and at the same price when adjusted for inflation.
In no way does this mean I haven't suffered, like everyone else, because of the inflation but the math don't lie.
@@Scroll_Lock People also "expect" the new technology and safety features that has nothing to do with the actual purpose of a truck.
Good. The factory should give a 5 year 100,00 mile warranty on turbos
That ain't going to happen but you can buy an extended 5x100k manufacture warranty for under 1500 bucks.
GM gives that on the Silverado.
@@jeremy.brooks Silverado has it on the 2.7 turbo.
There is still a huge problem with there not being a good affordable truck a average working man can buy
That is very true. And probably never will be again unfortunately
colorado trail boss is a good value if you can get away with a mid size
Most manufacturers offer stripped down work trucks that few want or buy. When you factor in all the technology, safety features, and inflation, the past and present trucks are not that different in price
@clarkkent9080 not only stripped down but also so ugly no one wants it
@clarkkent9080 spot on. The market needs cheap simple work trucks. We don't have any
As a mechanic the average person cannot afford to have their vehicle fail in a couple years. These new vehicles are terrible. Constant issues with the turbo vehicles
warranty is your friend. I will not own a truck outside of the extended warranty. and naturally aspirated enignes fail all the time too and cost a fortune to repair. warranty warranty warranty.
@Jason-Samko I can't afford that and many people I fix there cars for cannot.

This is exactly why I watch you channel. You don't bash any brand and you point out the positives of each. According to other YTbers, the auto market was going to crash 3 years ago.
I refuse to watch those YT channels that use click bate intro pics and titles. Not naming names...Scotty, Car Edge, etc..

Thank you alot man im currently 15 years old and deciding what truck to get after looking at all these youtube videos about how trash and unreliable these vehicles are i was so discouraged to buy a vehicle but you have helped bring hope back into me and ive decided that i want a ford f-250 or f-350 tremor with the 7.3 gas engine thats my dream truck right there and i hope it'll be worth it once i get a job the grind shall start whenever i do get a job
I get what you're trying to say, but I have to comment on real real world experience with a new GC-L. Just got rid of my 4 month old, 4500mi., Jeep GC-L 4x4 with the 3.6 L. Yes, good engine, good transmission but the electronics around the power train suck. Radiator cooling fan failed as it was defective from the factory, next day parking sensors failed, LKA intermittent failure from day one and UC5 was hit or miss. I felt like I did my research and dismissed the haters when deciding on this vehicle, but I think the point is, most consumers don't want to hassle with getting constant repairs even when it's under warranty. My plan was to keep it for a long time. Even if one didn't plan that, failures at such low mileage is unacceptable. No, it didn't leave me stranded, but well could have if we didn't get that cold front come through in Texas. Especially with me being a 2hr drive from my home. Anyway, like what you do, but there are haters for a reason. I still like the GC, but because of this experience, I won't buy one again and it left a bad taste in my mouth for other non big truck stellantis products. BTW, replaced it with a Honda Pilot Touring AWD.
finally a person who gets what is going on. Great job Jason
Jason doesn't get what's going on. He just made a video a few weeks back crying about and bashing Chevy because the fog lights wouldn't stay on all the time in his ZR2...which is exactly how the federal government mandates them to work. His stupidity is next level.
I like the story about your first new truck. My Dad bought a 1990 S-10 new. Manual, 2WD, no radio, no AC. Learned to drive on that! Brought back some memories.
loved that truck. I brought it to the dealer after being a year old because the paint looked hazy (bright red color truck). the dealer did a paint inspection and told me I have too much wax on it...lol I said I wax it weekly! he said stop it! lol
@Jason-Samko Haha! Ours was red too.
Thank you for not being in that category- I started watching untamed motors a while back and literally every video is doom and gloom. I can't believe he almost has 100k subscribers- keep up your great content!!@
My first truck was a new 1987 Jeep Comanche 2WD, 4 speed and no radio for $7200. I was 20 years old.
I enjoy your channel.
Excellent first truck! Still an excellent truck today. I see one in town down here that's all original
I still have 2 comanches
Life is short, people. Get the vehicle you really want. Time is money.
I agree in some of what you said. Everyone complains until they get a good deal, at that moment they didn’t mean anything they said before.
What is true is that cars are not build the same anymore, long term reliability is a thing of the past, they want you to swap vehicles often and that’s what many of us do, so why making them last longer.
Now days is all about maintenance, take care of it if you are going to keep for a long time.
I believe Jeep is doing a decent job, these are very unique vehicles, not perfect, very, very capable and thats rare now days.
All very well said
It is correct that long term reliability has decreased, not necessarily because of poor quality but mainly because of more moving parts and complexity, something that is true for any machine.
Keep up the good work you doing a fantastic job helping us with vehicles thank you!
@@MichaelJohnson-pg1zg thank you. Greatly appreciated
You have to buy what the man wants you to drive. Equipped the way, the man wants it to be equipped. They don’t care about what you want and you gotta pay the price we say.
The only thing that makes them junk are the emissions and poor quality electronics that cause the problems. The emissions are going away. The manufacturers need to offer electronics packages where the buyer orders what they do and dont want tech wise.
The Internet is not the real world my friend. Most of those channels that like to promote doom and gloom aren't trying to give actual useful information, they are only in it for clicks. I'm in your audience because you give actual information. Keep it up!
Thank you. And appreciate how you comment all the time and help others in here too
I think MOST people are fed up with the ridiculous $50K+ price tag and the LOW horsepower on full size trucks, jeep wranglers. Getting a 7 year loan to purchase a car is absurd. We all know these vehicles are overpriced because the minute you drive them off the lot they are worth 25% less, TRUTH! So by the time you pay taxes, tag and fees you are 15% more on top of a reasonable price. If you like burning cash then buy new. Also there is lot rot (dead batteries) on 2024 Jeeps in the Phoenix market and the dealers are still acting like they have the upperhand. It is time to give fair market on a trade in and 25% lower on new vehicle price to move inventory.
If I were getting a new truck every couple years, I’d be less picky. Turbo 4 cylinders wouldn’t be a concern, because I’d be dumping it before the warranty expires.
For the person looking for long term reliability that plans on keeping it after the warranty expires you really need to do your research.
Very simple, if you dont have turbos- you dont have turbo problems.
I just test drove a 24 Ram 2500 6.4 Lariat. I’m a Ford guy but the interior was as nice as any Cadillac I’ve ever been in. If they get serious about the price I’ll get serious about buying… PS keep it up Jason, there’s to much click bait out there…👍🏻
Ive been condisering a Ram as well. Those interiors and seas are unreal nice.
Turbos are bad. Unreliable, prone to failure, turbo lag. And unnecessary in a properly designed, engineered car. Turbos are a crutch to boost an underpowered, cheaped-out powerplant.
Have you even driven a new Turbo? I have a 2.7, no turbo lag at all, the motor has been out for 5-6 years and very few issues
You’re right - that’s why we have planes falling out of the sky.
@@PTLUX15that’s a stupid thing to say….completely different scenario.
@@LyleBoyd-w1jI've had a 2.7. It was laggy in some areas of the powerband but overall a very impressive combo IMO.
Ur handle should be never have kids and never had a tc engine I’ve own quite a few yes u need to give it a minute to warm up and cool down that’s what I did and not one tc engine went not one so get real
I typically keep my vehicals until they die. In my world--my "vehicles" are mountain bikes--I've lost count of how many I have owned, I'm constantly buying, selling, trading, getting a new one--but I get tired of people ragging on bikes that they have never ridden..., all these people are internet experts. THEY KNOW EVERYTHING YET THEY KNOW NOTHING!!! Thank you for addressing these issues and saying what you said--it's time!.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. Im like you, always buying, selling, and repeating.
I have a number of issues with turbo gas engines.
1- It is one more very expensive component that can fail. The only vehicle that will never have a turbo failure is one with a NA engine.
2- Turbo engines tend to have many other "more complex and expensive" components, such as electric water pumps, vacuum pumps, electronically controlled wastegate and charge-air cooling system, variable-pressure oiling system, active fuel management. All can fail and are expensive to replace. Anything more complex and anything with more moving parts is simply more likely to have problems.
3- Turbos increase under hood temperatures that stress other components, especially the many plastic parts.
4- While most turbo engines can run on regular, Turbos only achieve their advertised Hp and Torque ratings on premium fuel.
5- Turbos do require strict adherence to the maintenance schedule to ensure reliability, something few Americans do.
6- Many manufactures use the same exact engine but offer various levels of "tune" for greater Hp and Torque. If a turbo tuned for 10 psi boost is expected to be more reliable than the same exact engine with a 30 psi tuned boost, the opposite would also be true that the 30 psi boosted engine would be less reliable than the 10 psi boosted engine.
The buyer must decide if the available added HP and torque is worth the potential for more expensive maintenance and premium fuel. The main fuel economy benefit of a turbo is the smaller displacement but there is no fuel economy magic when your foot is in the turbo.
good points but on the flip side. today many turbo smaller motors are more reliable than the bigger na motors. and when comparing a i4t to a na v8 the i4t will cost less to repair, has less parts to fail, cost less in repair hours, cost less to buy in the vehicle and will perform just as good or better. so its a wash in my opinion. my advice, buy what you want and sell it before the extended warranty is up.
@@Jason-Samko I was pointing out very specific turbo attributes, not found in most NA versions that can lead to added cost for long term ownership.
We have decades of experience on the atmospheric breathers and know maintained engines should last on average 200,000 miles and see 300k miles with minor repairs. So we do start out this discussion with a known fact.
I don't think any real generic reliability claim for the current crop of high pressure engines can be made at this point without at least 10+ years of real world owner experience.
If that experience does prove turbos to be less reliable, the fact will be moot since newer versions will make claims of "fixing " the problems of the past and at that point, NA engines will also be a thing of the past as they are being phased out.
Summary: I know what to expect with a NA engine and I know many problems that can arise are still withing the toolbox of the DIYer. Turbos are the long term unknown.
Dang man what I wanted you to talk about was that 2 door Army green Willys Jeep that you kept walking by again and again, that thing looked badass😊 I agree with your point though
No...the 4 door. That one is popping!
I am probably the worst kind of customer for a dealership. I like to get around 200k miles out of my vehicle before I start looking. 👀
Thank you Jason. Like you I've owned dozens of trucks and SUVs of all brands and never had a problem with any of them. I currently own 2 Jeeps, 2 Fords, a Toyota and a GMC...all are great vehicles. Buy what you like and don't listen to all of the negativity on the internet.
agree 100% every brand makes amazing vehicles. Buy them love them, sell them and repeat!
yep, cars are made disposable nowadays because companies figure out leasing is the way to go, it only needs to work for 3-5 years.
I LOVE literally every word in this video! Amen 🙏 Jason!!!
No fanbois can argue with me that my 04 tundra that I’ve owned for 21 years is junk.
Late nineties / early 2000’s Toyotas are bulletproof

@@tfive1060 Wrong. My 2nd gen Tundra was a much better truck than my first gen Tundra. First gen Tundra had a timing belt, 2nd gen had a timing chain. And my 2nd gen was late 2000s. More power, more payload, bigger bed, just better in every way possible.
@ Yep I had a 2008 Tundra too and it was awesome! Ran like a champ. When I mentioned late 90's/early 2000's I more meant Tacoma/Camry. I also still have a 2007 Avalon that is still running strong. Cheers!
@@westcoastplinkin6559 lol My 04 went 200K before I even changed the timing belt
Your first truck story made me chuckle, back in 86 my dad and I went looking at small trucks, GM dealer gave a price (14k back then) said that was without a bumper, barely seemed interested in even trying to sell anything, I could have bought it that day. We walked away, went to a Mazda dealer, showroom B2000 sport, standard 5 speed, even had a sliding rear window, 12k and change out the door. 😂
Very nice! I was in a special program at the time I bought that truck in high school where 6 of us were in a special automotive program for 4 hours 3 days a week at the colleges auto program. So the day I bought that truck called my instructor at the college and asked if he knew how to find a sliding rear window for mine. He ordered one with the college discount for me and helped me install it in class and an example repair for the class
@Jason-Samko That's awesome 👍.
It's easy before you buy a new car or truck? Go back to service and buy a mechanic some lunch and ask them what to buy! These mechanics know exactly what is good and what is junk
Thanks for saying what many of us feel, Jason. I enjoy your videos. That's why I subbed. I'm so sick of the same guys on here posting the same doom and gloom "It's Over", "2025 truck market crash is coming", "This is the end", etc, over and over again.
Yep i enjoy watching those but I can not relate as I don't feel thst way. Trucks get me excited and I love them all. I want them all the succeed
Jason, I think people looking at new vehicles today get sticker shock and just think you should have premium quality for the money they're asking for. I get that dealers want to make money. But the quality of new vehicles does not justify the money they're asking for them. Too much plastic and to many problems. And you're right, when you purchase a new vehicle every year or two, you don't need to worry about that so much. However, very few of us do that and that is why we are frustrated. We spend 50, 60 or 70k or more, we want to know that vehicle is going to be trouble free, period. Not many vehicles are in that category anymore.
Times have definitely changed. And the days of trouble free, recall free, quality made are gone. It sucks. But it's like that with everything today. Like when people tell me they will never buy anything from China yet thier phone, and 99% of everyhtingnin their life comes from China. Point being i get people being frustrated but this is the world we live in now. It will never go backwards. So I prefer to enjoy what little time I have left here

@@Jason-Samko my rear differential went at 96k miles and I always wants a Tacoma. That is when I grabbed my 2001 taco and junked it
You need to study economics cuz you're clueless, it's all about supply and demand if you have a lot of supply on your demand is down, which means people aren't buying them and I got news for you that lot was full of Jeeps that means there's nobody wanting to buy them and if there was a demand there wouldn't be a 15,000 rebate on them, and if you say there's no rebates you're not doing your homework, every vehicle has a rebate right now, look on the internet
Oh no, Jason. Don't talk common sense; folks are going to be upset. ;) I agree with your points. I drove used vehicles until my late 20s. My first new vehicle was a 2002 Chevy Avalanche with the Z71 package. I loved it! I've bought a couple of new trucks and cars for my wife and me since then. I'm the guy who keeps his vehicle for 10 years or so, but I'm constantly checking out trucks, Jeeps, and cars because I'm a car guy.
I agree with some of the things that you said. But my philosophy is I have a paid off vehicle and I would rather fill my yard with toys and have fun that way then drive the latest and greatest. When walk on my property, you’ll see a modern up-to-date house and a beautiful boat side-by-side and camper that’s where I put my money and when my truck finally dies, I will go out and pay cash for another good used one.
Bingo Mr Samko!!, Bottom line a new ride every 3 to 5 years is something I LOVE! Yes I bought a 2023 SR5 4x4 with the V6 and yep I am happy, but I will have no problem in 4 years to trade for SOMETHING NEW!!! I might keep this one though for my grand daughter who will be driving in 8 years:))
exactly. works perfect for me too. I drive too many miles (40k a year) to go 5 years but same concept. once i get close to 80k miles i replace it. that also keeps them from getting boring. Have a 23 4runner that im about to list for sale. I have zero regrets about owning it. Loved it. but have zero regrets on selling it now either.
They all have known problems and issues, it's all a dice roll whatever you buy if you will experience it or to what degree. It's just good to research the known failures so you know what may or may not happen.
I've had MANY new trucks in my lifetime. My first was a 1975 Chevy Cheyenne that I paid $114 a month for. After that I bought a new one about every 2 years. And I can only remember taking one in for a problem, it wouldn't switch from one gas tank to the other. Turned out to be just a pinched fuel hose. My problem now that I'm retired is I just can't afford a new one anymore. They have priced me out of the market. If I could I would have a new GMC or Chevy 2500 but the prices so high even for used ones, there's just no way.
the prices sure do hurt today.
I agree, but this time around prices went up too high and too fast.
Dealership had too strong of a leverage, so I can understand why consumers are resentful.
I would say: “no deal no buy”, keep it simple and realistic.
But for sure, trucks are great, you pay for it, but worth it IMO
I mean mid sizes are amazing now!
The Colorado is a huge update from the previous gen
Agree on all points
Thank you sir for the clarification! : ) I'm loving my 2024 Colorado Trail Boss!
Amazing truck!
I know the feeling. I bought a first gen 2017 Jeep Compass and I loved it. Third Jeep I owned. Excellent gas mileage and road trip the hell out of it. But people gave me smack because it was a Compass. I don’t give a shit. I love Jeeps in General for their versatility and utility. I use a Wrangler the same way I used my Compass. Backroad travels and dirt road adventures. I don’t need to climb Mt Everest or Moab for that matter. I’m currently looking at a Cherokee Trailhawk so I can get out in Winter snowstorms and find places to hike and camp. 😊❤
Agree 100. And I had a 2021 cherokee trailhawk. It was amazing on and offroad. And it got better mpgs towing that my gladiator or my tacoma
I read comments about Jeep Compass, electrical problems are the thing, today I talked to somebody on the street and he told me, dont buy it, too many problems, can't argue with that!
Probably the best video I’ve seen in years on TH-cam. I am so tired of the same click bait title of every video they make. “ It’s over”. “Dealers in trouble “. “Let it rot”. Blah blah blah. I don’t see any of that in my area.
I’m right here with you Jason. Love your channel, keep it coming even if it’s 2am.

love my ZR2. 4 banger for life baby!!! 😂😂 Love your attitude brother. Keep up the good work.
Love our zr2 as well. And the 2.7 is outstanding
Amazing video my friend. One of the few real rants I have seen in quite some time. I've been seeing sales data out there that is also invalidating the stories from other TH-camrs that dealers are failing and can't move inventory. Point in case, the doom and gloom gets clicks and people watch the videos longer. It's like the news media is creeping into TH-cam.
I enjoy watching those vids as well. But its not a route that fits me. would be impossible for me to do them as I love trucks from all brands too much. And im retired and make enough money that we are comfortable so im not chasing clicks. Id rather put out honest educational videos even if they get less involvement.
I have 165k miles on my 17 Ford Mustang Ecoboost 4cyl turbo, not ONE problem, never been to the dealer for anything.I am hoping for a turbo failure everyone predicts so I can install a larger, more powerful turbo.
Yep "people know not what they are talking about" as my dad would say
Some brands are better, are they having problems with turbos , yes, all of them , recalls are proving that , they’re going to work it out! Vehicles are just getting way too complicated with all the electronics, but I agree it’s not the end of the world for car makers
I don't have a position one way or the other about the reliability of new jeeps. But I listen to what you say and it makes sense to me. That being said I was talking to a woman the other day while walking my dogs and the topic of vehicles came up as I live in the hills and it's easy to get stuck when it snows.
The woman , who drives an audi suv, was saying how unreliable jeeps are.. lol.. I thought of you and politely said 'I don't know'
@timbarry5080 there is alot of negativity around jeeps thst came from the the early jk problems. And jeep just can't get out of that category even though is was a decade ago
Good video Jason! I am going to pull the trigger on either a 2025 Frontier SV with the V6 or Ford Ranger XLT 4 cyl.. I tow a bass boat in the summer, ( about 3000 pounds). No off road, except some rougher ramps. Would you give me your thoughts if you get a chance? Kind of liking the Ford... Long term listener - good job every day!
@PBurns-d4w 3k weight for the ranger is nothing. Easy peasy. The ranger tows like a champ. So does the frontier. But I bet the ranger tows better with less reving constantly like in a na motor. Example, 2 f150s i had while i had a 6k travel trailer. The coyote 5.0 was always reving, screaming and annoying towing. The 2.7 v6 turbo was smoother and more relaxed towing.
The frontier and ranger are both excellent. Don't let towing 3k sway you. Both will do it great. Pick the truck based on other reason you do or don't like

Just bought a 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X. I really do love it! I wish I negotiated like you. I tried 10k below sticker and they laughed at me. I got them 4K below sticker price and even that took a couple hours. Any recommendations on how to get them to negotiate more? I knew the truck had been on the lot for 4 months but they still put up a hard fight to negotiate at all.
Brand loyalty doesn't make sense anymore alot of different brands use the same parts that they buy from the same vendors IE Ford & GM use the same transmissions Nissan uses a Mercedes designed transmission & upgraded Dana 44s used in jeeps etc different trucks are built different according to purpose some tow better some off-road better some get better gas milage but all have strengths & weaknesses & Jason always tries to point that out with lots of great reviews please remember Jason does this to share his passion for cool trucks & pass along years of experience we could do better at being appreciative

One problem is people speak authoritatively when they’re wrong and couldn’t bother to google something for 1 microsecond before commenting… ford and Chevy don’t use the same trannies.
The truck manufacturers accepted CARB requirements to have access to the California market. They also accept crash test ratings and safety laws. They respond to market trends to load up on technology that sells. Those are the new trucks we are seeing.
Haters don’t have to drive them. They can buy 20 year old truck and have a shop do a full restoration and crate motor.
However guys on the internet crying in the comments about new trucks are tilting at windmills.
That 2 door ‘41 Willis with the black grill and soft top is awesome looking!! Jason unfortunately people take other people options as fact. For those who trash the 3.6 V6 most likely never owned one and if they did had an early version.People talk just to talk
Well said.
Most vehicles are reliable when you replace theme every year
and thats why I replace them every other year. I dont have time or energy to be repairing stuff.
@@Jason-Samko Your choice to pay for that convenience, I'm choosing to retire at 53 so that strategy wouldn't work for me. Each to their own.
Same Jason. I don’t give a crap about longevity. However, any post on your videos is a good post for the algorithm. Oh, and as far as refueling Tina’s ZR2…. Yeah, get used to it 😂. I’ve never been to the fueling station as much as I have with mine! Still love it!! 👍
@@Raazorred1 yep mpg gauge seems to be stuck now on 15.3😂

40 trucks ! I’m 65 I’ve owned a total of 12 vehicles( two new ) ,one truck which I’m selling soon and buying a suv . I hunt multiple states trucks are not needed, heck my wife’s family are one of the largest farm families In the county and they don’t drive pickups . Had one car loan in my life . New Vehicles are a top reason many can’t move up in wealth as they keep buying rapidly depreciating assets at insane prices .
To each thier own with what they choose to do with their money. Me I choose to buy new vehicles regularly. Fortunately I found a way to do it and not loose much money.
After lifter failure. A new engine. Two transmissions, a radiator, electric fans, two thermostats, break failure, front drive shaft falling off, new AC, motor mount, exhaust leak, and aero louvers sticking open. I absolutely will NEVER buy a Chevy truck again. The female CEO DEI hire has destroyed GM.
My goodness, that army green Jeep looks so freaking awesome! That's what I want!
@Redmow51 called 41 special edition. And that color is also called color 41 nee for 2025
@@Jason-Samko Gorgeous Jeep. I'm working my butt off to have the money ready for end of year.
Enjoy life and don’t be a hater, thanks samko😊
With these prices THEY CAN SIT.....I'm NOT paying these stupid prices.....that's all there is to it.....🤷♂️
I like the looks of many of the new cars coming out and I love the look of the grand Cherokee but I don’t buy one because the reliability rating according to consumer reports is bad and the price is high.
Other you tubers mostly complain about prices, which are too high, but they do also sometimes talk about reliability which are valid complaints.
I don’t know if a real crash will ever happen though because many people will still pay these ridiculous prices so therefore they will continue to stay high
@bobbyj454 consumer reports rated the ram 3500 as the least reliable hd truck. Butnif you read why it was all complaints of a stiff suspension! And it's the number one hd truck bought by hot shot drivers because of the reliability. Take consumer reports with a grain of salt. My opinion on the grand cherokee is its one of the most proven and reliable motors and drivetrains available today. If I was looking for a longer term suv it would ve at the top of my list
@ I don’t know why a stiff suspension would classify under reliability but I do have concerns with the credibility of consumer reports.
There are even Jeep owners though who complain about the reliability. I do wish though that if someone is going to talk about reliability that they would specify as to why they are giving the rating and what are the actual issues.
I would be a Jeep owner myself if not for my concerns over reliability.
Iff someone wants a mostly American made truck, gladiator is it
@@andrewshenton6541 love the gladiator
Great video with a positive message.
Trucks are just tools at the end of the day. Sometimes they are on sale. Sometimes they come bundled with other tools or features. Some are better than others at certain tasks, but that’s not to say that they suck and are worthless.
Anyone who has a heartache about where the car market is headed should take a step back and not get so emotionally invested. There are other things in life that are more worthwhile.
By subscribing to channels like this one, that aren’t toxic, you take a step in the right direction… towards being an enthusiast.
Thank you. Appreciate all points you hit on and agree
I watch your channel for the information you provide. It’s solid. I basically do your same buying method but at 100k mile trucks instead of new trucks. It may change with all the new tech in trucks but right now it works. I’m buying 100k truck in the teens $$ wise. I drive them 3-5 years and sell in $10-12k range with 200k+ miles. It’s cost g me $2-3k/yr of ownership (outside of normal maintenance). I’m not complaining. And I buy from an individual not a dealership.
I work at retail and there are 5 competitors selling same products. We have the shoppers/bidders, price checkers who still buy, and one that buy 100% no ?’s. The ones that don’t compare/shop prices trust us and like our service over the others. Cars are a commodity bc you can get what a dealer has down at b dealers. It’s just who gives the fair deal that’s a win for both you and them. If you get a good deal but it’s was hard work and days/weeks dealing with them you probably ain’t going back next time. But where you felt you got a good deal and was easy to sales was easy to work with and you got good service during sale, you’ll give them a chance several times even if they can’t do the next deal. And some sales folks just a stick and don’t care either way.
I normally don’t watch these types all the way but I liked your points and opinion in this one. Love your honest factual open reviews.
Excellent points and your method of buying and flipping the used ones is a solid plan. My buddy does the same with the same type of vehicles and figures his average monthly payment over the last decade is about 30 bucks a month.
Nothing but new Chevy's since 1988. Just sold my '24 Colorado Z71, 12K miles for a new '25 ZR2. Loved the Z71, great milage, but wanted the 3" lift and overall looks of the new ZR2. So took a big hit financially, but got what I wanted. Milage not so great, but so what. You can drive your old beater, not for me. 🙅♂
Life is to short to not enjoy it. And like you, trucks offer me enjoyment. Congrats on your new truck.
You are the man most of the people complaining cant afford a new truck !!! I'm like you i love all new trucks I'm available chevy guy but all the new trucks have their own special perks
Yep love them all
Are they way overpriced yes
@@robertbaker3126 very much so
the prices are insane. you agree on that.
100%
TRUTH! I love this! I agree with this totally! Everyone has beef with what they don't drive..... GROW UP!
agree 100% justification is the essence of life today.
Life is good again! MAGA 2025
But the Tundra problem is real,,,,I live in Phoenix AZ, I see WAAAAY more new Silverado and GMCs on the road than any other brand especially Toyotas!
This guy must be independently wealthy. Why he would own 40 vehicles in his short life says it all. Lolol
Or he know how to buy them right
I agree with you!
I do the same thing
New every 2!
Life is to short to not have fun. And buying and selling trucks often is fun for me too!
Always here to hear Jason’s rock solid opinions and rants.
The real world is this….dealerships are posturing to file chapter 11 protections. This removes their liability on the overpriced units on the lot. Flooring banks are going to take the hit on the inventories. Guess who will bail out the flooring banks…….tax payers.
After it all plays out dealerships will restock their lots with new units they paid much less for. MSRPs will be much less in a couple years. That’s how this will end up.
the only thing crappy about the 3.6 Pentastar is owner upkeep. Do the maintenance like it supposed to be done and the motor will take care of you. And dont drive it like a Ferrari, it's not a Ferrari.
Good maintenance is important
$7,400 brand new S10 in 1991 inflation adjusted to Dec2024 would be ~$17,000. Certainly there is more technology and capability built into the new trucks, but double the cost? Base mid-sized trucks start close to $35,000. I’d accept some issues in new vehicles but to pay double-ish for the privilege is what is hurting sales and perception the most.
very true. never did the math. and that 7400 was otd price including tax etc.
😂 this dude acts like we all have owned 40 trucks. Reality is Jeep is trash, Toyota quality is lower that previous model, and NO not every truck is valuable.
You need to do a review on Mazda’s that would be great
Dealer is a long way from me. But plan to make a trip there and stock up on some mazda vids
I like all trucks also. People who close off saying I won't get this or that or buy that kind of engine are not worth listening to True car people like all brands and don't pick one and bash all the others. I like hearing Jason's opinions, I might not agree with all but overall he is pretty spot on.
Thank you and agree 100%. Never met a truck i didn't like or that I thought was junk
I agree the car market is not crashing-MSRP prices are not going down-just attended a new car show and the MSRP prices are absurd. Disagree with you on Rot Lot. If a vehicle has been on the Dealer's lot for 500 days-bad things are happening to the vehicle's paint, gas, battery, seals that are not being lubricated and so forth. Disagree with you on Turbos-they are bad. In a effort to comply with the Government's gas mileage requirements. Manufacturers are making smaller engines and putting on turbos to get the needed power. Some manufacturers are installing 3 cylinder engine-Nissan Rogue-Chevy Silverado installing a 4 cylinder turbo engine on a full size truck is nuts. Let me ask you this would you consider buying Chevy Silverado 4 cylinder engine that is out of warranty-I think not.
I would never own any truck today outside of warranty. And I trust the 2.7 turbo more than any v8 made in a full size truck today. Not to mention the 2.7 4 t is much cheaper to work on than any v8 and it makes more power. It also comes with a 100k factory warranty for free. Me, yep, I'd buy the chevy 2.7 all day! Oh wait, I did, it's in my wife's colorado zr2. And I love it
Exactly, idiots are still buying high dollar vehicles. Nothing is crashing. No 50% off. None of that is gonna happen. 😊
I am like you Jason, I like them all. I wish I could have about ten vehicles and a garage big enough for all of them (like the Harry's garage TH-cam channel). I like them for a detail sometimes, like the sliding rear window of the 4Runner, or for a more substantial reason, like the practicality of a station wagon compared to the equivalent sedan.
My father in laws mini van has the 3.6 with 180k miles. Never done anything but change the oil.
One of the best motors made.
