I still remember walking into a computer shop to look at NES games and seeing Shadow of the Beast running on an Amiga500 on the counter. I had never seen anything so amazing on a computer before.
Same apart from the Nes bit, I remember Amiga's being in the shop windows showing Shadow of the Beast doing things that I've never seen on a home system before at the time. Shame about the game not being that great and not an easy game to finish lol.
@@Adrian-rc2ss It's not a bad game but was too hard for my liking, but to be fair, when I played it, I was quite young so that didn't help lol, Beast 2 was a joke on it's difficulty whereas Beast 3 was fine, I could enjoy that lol.
@@Adrian-rc2ss It was good Castlevania style game with impressive graphics and sound and some interesting elements, but it had the same problem as Castlevania that makes many similar games annoying - the endlessly respawning repetitive enemies. That's why I prefered other games that may look worse, but the gameplay is far better.
Psygnosis had the best intro's and soundtracks of all time. Thank you for organizing these fond memories. It was such a magically, revolutionary time for gaming and there was so much talent.
Amiga was never a computer with difficult games. It is just that Nintendo and SEGA set a pad controller standard that made Joystick too difficult for each year that they grew and grew over the years in the market. For those that mastered using a Joystick, games were never too hard though. Also Amiga games were made for Joystick usage and not pad usage.
Thanks for the time travel ! There was 2 other games not present in your top that i never forgot : "Obitus" and the very hard but just stunning "Awesome"... But for me, the best Psygnosis game of all time stays "The Killing Game Show"... What a game.

Lemmings was DMA design (based out of Scotland) - GTA also came from them. I wasn't a fan of Psygnosis games from a gameplay point of view, it's like their staff was good programmers and graphics artists with no gameplay designers.

Totally agree. They are classic games. Game creators aren't just programmers or musicians they were and they are great artists! To this day I still wonder how game creators could make such a special game with amazing graphics and music on one or two floppy disks ... :-)
I love the music and intro of Blood money and Nitro's music and adrenaline. But for me the best is Hired guns ... the music, the atmosphere of the game ...everything :-)
Hopefully one day I can complete these 25 games. For now I have these original games (from Psygnosis): Combat Air Patrol Second Samurai Shadow of the Beast Shadow of the Beast II Shadow of the Beast III Walker and my priorities are to find these games: Agony, Hired Guns & Leander I love this company. I know that Microprose, Team17, LucasGames, Bitmap Brother, Core and some others had a very high level, but for me, Pysgnosis It's another level. @@godslayer1415 you are getting confused with beast 1. Beast 3 was highly playable with a few puzzles thrown in there. The least spectacular of the beast series but the best game of them all.
Psygnosis was bought by Sony, when they were building Sony Computer Entertainment and preparing to launch the PlayStation. All Psygnosis IPs belong to Sony. I wish that some of them get entries. It has been around 7 years since the PS4 Shadow of the Beast. I want a new one.

@@Harkonnen75 totally. Alex love the list. Brought me back to the amiga days. I myself spent hours playing Awesome by Psygnosis. I was saying they were always great with the visual style but unfortunately some of their games were not fun to play. Shadow of the beast broke me as a child. Looked amazing though.
It's curious. Because nowadays there are amazing games that look like a movie... and when I see them... hmm... I don't know how to explain it, I almost prefer to play Walker... or games like Golden Axe...in my Amiga 1200... Many classic Amiga games bring back good memories too :-)
My time was too short with Shadow of the Beast 3...I bought it twice on Ebay but both copies are non-functional. I did beat it once though. And bought a PS4 for the make...and Bloodborne. Leander looks neat...never played or heard of it. Blood Money...fuck yeah. What a great game. Hard as fuck...soundtrack was off the chain. What a good game. Oblitorator was Barbarian in space. Lolz.. they both got crap but I loved them.
and then the PlayStation came out and blew the amiga away with its stunning 3d graphics something the amiga was useless at , when you look back i think the PlayStation was the ultimate console that changed graphics forever.
For me, Commodore didn't know what to do with Amiga. With the money they earned in the Amiga, they spent it on other projects that were money-losing machines. In addition, the Amiga was sold very expensive and each generation came out late and with much lower performance than those designed by the technicians previously (to save money). If Commodore had firmly bet on the Amiga now, perhaps we would have another story ... and possibly we would have a Amiga in each house now (with the playstation) :-) IMHO.
@@Harkonnen75 Piracy was an issue when you compare the Amiga to the Playstation (pre mod chip days). It was hard to make money on the Amiga compared to the Playstation.

Awesome Ork and Lemmings was my continual jam still love them and their soundtracks.
Psygnosis generally had absolutely everything A+ in their games except for the actual gameplay. Lemmings, of course, had perfect gameplay as well.
And Shadow of the Beast was pretty but lacked any real gameplay - Psygnosis Barbarian and Obliterator are the best of the era.

Psygnosis was the most emblematic company of amiga...like ocean was for spectrum time...this is clear.
Both Psygnosis and Ocean developed for Amiga and the ST - and usually the ST versions were better
The SotB2 game over scene and music has yet to be equaled. It almost makes you not mind having to see it so much.

These games had soul, a lot of nowadays games s*ck. I had an Amiga and I enjoyed a lot with Shadow of the Beast I, II and III.

Right they all suck ... Lemmings the least - Beast the most ... simple minds dazzled by parallax scrolling - one of the few games I ever deleted.
