    In this video I quickly explain what an asymmetrical snowboard is, and what benefits that style of snowboard is going to offer you. In short, an asymmetrical snowboard will allow you to carve more aggressively and with less effort on your heelside edge by throwing you into a tighter turn on your heels. This helps to balance out the feeling between our toe side carves and our heelside carves.

    You're killing me here TJ, every time I go to put up an Explained video you drop something like this.

      We are both going to exhaust all topics in the pre-season, it's just that time of year. I think that it will actually lift both of each other up since our videos will both be recommended off of each other though. There's room for both of us man

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Definitely room for both of us. Just find it funny I'll go to post a video on a topic and there's a notification that you did it first. I'm just going to toss a video link to yours in the end of mine.

      I don't like your angry commentary and shitty attitude. I've seen your videos and when I find one that explains the exact same thing as you do, I watch it instead. Sorry but you aren't the default product reviewer here. Piss off with your bitching pussy

    Gnu space case asym. A little hooky at first but after you get the feel, you can lock in a heel carve.

    The biggest advantage asym has for me is that its easier to roll it on the heel edge. But like TJ said, it isnt a deal breaker

    Been riding the gnu park pickle for 5 years I love it! Other than one rental board I haven't been on anything else. The way I look at it is anything that can help with Heel side turns why not! I'm hesitant to buy a board with out it because Asym is all I know. Keep the videos coming love em man!

    Hey TJ, in the 80s and early 90s many race boards had asym shapes and asym sidecut radius. (like the Burton Factory Prime) Like with the fish style and asym boards many old ideas are coming back. I'm still waiting for lowback bindings.......
    Cheers

    how to define the heel side? the side with longer arc side or with longer straight length between the two cut points of effective cut???
    deeper side means heel side??
    Does all the Asymmetric Snowboard (ex. GNU, NS, Ride) have the same heel side as the long side or short side?

      It’s so weird for me. When I’m skateboarding I’m naturally frontside but when I’m snowboarding I’m naturally backside (toeside). Just sit deep in your chair and lean back hard while keeping your shoulders parallel. It takes a while but you’ll get it. It’s all about finding that sweet spot, try rocking your intermediate heel turns a little bit more until you start controlling the edge then just keep progressing after that

    I have a gnu riders choice. It’s an asymmetrical board. It seems like the heel edge slips out easier. Any thoughts or experiences on Gnu’s asym. Boards doing that?

      @johndoe-zi9tl 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you bending your knees and sitting in the chair when doing heel turns? If you are not you are still going to wash out even though the heel sidecut is deeper.

    I just purchased an asym twin board, however Im regular footed and dont know which is the heel-side edge. How can I tell? Im pretty confused on this concept. When I think twin I think of the stance of bindings doesnt matter

    • @amandalinn3618
      @amandalinn3618 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The edge that is thicker will most likely be the heel edge. Usually they have text on the board that says this too but maybe not. On mine it does.

  • @UnknownEntity334
