  • Join us as we spend a day in Goodland, FL... Florida's Drinking Village (with a Fishing Problem). This town located in the south Florida swampland has 4 bars and a laid back atmosphere during the day, which transforms into an energetic party atmosphere at night. We'll take you to all 4 bars as well as the 40th Annual Mullet Fest. After that, we'll take you a few miles down the road to Everglades City, another small Florida swamp town hosting its annual seafood festival.

      It's funny how people here in Mass look down on Florida, but they're stuck inside 7 months a year while these people are out having a blast. This is the lifestyle that makes Florida much more appealing. The laid back, beach vacation lifestyle.

    I think I would enjoy visiting this drinking village with the fishing problem. I've always wanted to see a gator in the wild. The beer and key lime pie looked like something I would want to try! Mullet fest sounds like quite the event. Seafood festival seems amazing. That gator mac and cheese sure was expensive!! Wow. But nice free samples to off-set it.

    • @Explorcation
      @Explorcation  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh we can almost guarantee that you would! We can certainly point you in the right direction to see a gator in the wild as well. We were definitely feeling a bit guilty after eating/drinking so many free samples, which probably did play into our willingness to spend so much on that gator mac and cheese!

    Given that our trip to Treasure Island was less than stellar in '23 (Thanks to beach "renourishment") and things do not look much better in that region for the next few months, really appreciate this video. I've got some researching as we really loved going through the Everglades three years ago and want to go back. Thanks again, you guys look great!!

      Ahhh yeah sorry about your bad timing with your Treasure Island trip. It's normally a pretty prime vacation spot, but definitely not during the beach renourishment. No need to worry about beach renourishment in Goodland/Everglades City, as there are not much for beaches.... but still plenty of good times to be had.

    As soon as I saw the Title I knew you were talking about Goodland, we lived there for about 6 years, a wonderful place to live. The little bar not only has great food but has probably some of the best blues bands and musicians assembled in the country during season and the acoustics are amazing. If you went in side you’d find the bar and back drop that separates the dining room and the bar is actually a 150 year old bar that If my memory is right was imported from Ireland, beautiful woodwork.
    The 2nd place you went to used to be called the old Marco lodge which was also a trading post that dates back to the early 1900’s.
    I saw you had the pleasure of seeing the man, the myth and the legend Gator Nate at the crabby lady. Then you had Joanies and there was plenty to see there including the pictures that adorn the walls and bathrooms taken by Lucky Cole. Next time you are out there if you want to get way off the beaten path, Lucky has Lucky Coles Biker outpost on loop road way down in the middle of the Everglades. Luckys is only open on weekends, is donation only and you couldn’t find nicer hosts than Lucky and Maureen.
