Lots of good bands there. I first saw a Philippino band called "The Howlers" in Japan. They played a lot of stuff, but one guy looked like Elvis & they would play some of his songs. They said they were going "home" to the P I. I was going back there too, and saw them in Olongapo! I always wondered what happened to 'The Howlers"
1978 on the ashtabula , then 79 on the beaufort, then 80-81 on the usns passumpsic...never forget it... what a great time for a young man….
The Stoned Crow used to have some kick ass Mojo...
So did the Body Shaft!!
I was station ditto several times between 74 and 82 and my friend a business owner was an owner of the stoned crow and I did not know until I was leaving A Marine buddy and I talked about buying it but it was only a dream

There in 82 and 84. Best time of my life. Broke my ankle in a pothole. I would do it all again!
I was in Subic in 89 or 90 I was too drunk to remember the year. I retired to the PIs 6 years ago. Love the pics - but what was that song? I never heard that one before.
BTW I have Subscribed! Keep up the good work.
First time in OLONGAPO was 1984 was there when the volcano erupted in 91 last time there 2017-2018
Many memory's was there 73/75 DD-1066, 80/82 DD-945, 91/92 AD-15. I am retiring now and getting ready to go back. I know its changed, but so have I. Told my wife I want to go back and actually see the country that I was to busy to see before due to chasing women and drinking LOL. Spent 16 days in Samar in 75 on leave and totally fell in love with the country.
I went back and didn't leave for 9 years.
Married a school girl University of the East.
Together 40 years until she went to be with Jesus in 2017.
Miss her dearly.

@@stanjohns5752I’m sorry for your loss. My Filipina and I have been married 47 years.
Take an extra toothbrush, your not going to want to leave.
I became an actor there 1970's.
It was like being a star.
What an adventure.
Much more exciting than being a Marine stationed there, although that was an exciting, learning experience.
Good luck
Keep us informed
I was stationed there for 21 months April 1979 - Co B Marine barracks /Cubi Point ( jungle ops ) Naval Mag
Should have been there in 67. Advanced Underwater Weapons plt. Separate Guard, Marine Barracks,Cubi Point. Paradise for 20 year old. OoooRaaah!
Gone ,but never forgotten
Kids today who don't want to be in military, have no clue to what adventures and good times are.
Wouldn't trade those days for anything
Remember New Jolo, Kangaroo club, Pauline, Kong restaurant, D Cave, ect. We had more in Olongapo than most civilians have in their lifetime. If you know what I mean🤭😁
Thanks for this video , so nice !
Do you have anymore old videos like this? its great!
I was in Subic Bay with 1st BN 3rd Mar, 2nd BN 3rd Mar, and 3rd Bn 3rd Mar 78,79,80 when on 3 West Pac and enjoyed the people and their great Bar B Q chicken from the street markets. This was a very different world with a long history with the US and the Marines because their dress uniforms copy our marine uniforms. Went back in 95 for a visit.
I was on 3/4’s WesPac in ‘74. Leave a few times in ‘75. Then a WesPac with 1/4 in ‘76. Spent ‘77-‘81 there.
I was there on my vacation to get married and wait for USS Midway than had many memories of that time.
love it mark
Hi Mark. Thanks for this video. I'm moving to subic Bay in a few months going to open a restaurant. I would love to have this song subic Bay playing in the background at times. Can you help me find a copy of it? Google pulls up the original German version. Thank you 😎
Not sure why there would be an official German version. Not many Germans in Subic and the original was in English. The Balad of Subic Bay. www.google.com/search?q=ballad+of+subic+bay&oq=&aqs=chrome.2.69i58j69i64j35i39i362i523l13...13.-1j1j4&client=ms-android-fi&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8
Wish you well on your Restaurant, were will it be located?
@@markbowen5842 somewhere between subic Bay and Manila I believe. Big area. Lots of logistics to work out. Thanks so much.
