When I first saw this movie in 2015 , I was in love with Bajirao and Mastani's Romance and hated Kashibai , Chimaji and Maa Saheb . But after getting known to the real facts about Mastani and Kashi ,now , in 2022 , I feel that this film should be named 'Kashibai ' rather than 'Bajirao Mastani ' . Kashibai's daily struggle shows how a woman is treated when her husband cheats her as all mistakes rest on her . On the other hand it shows , how a man can love a woman till the end of his breath without even thinking of his wife and family . Priyanka is fabulous . Love from West Bengal .

I mean there can be a difference in thinking, No doubt about that, the movie might not portray the perfect facts.... But I personally think this movie shows that sometimes making a decision between right and wrong can be very hard... Sometimes too much attachment to people can also be your downfall... It was not that Bajirao didn't love Kashi too but he was just so attached to Mastani that despite knowing it's wrong... He just couldn't let go and tried to do right by both the women... He accepted the punishment of Kashi of never entering the chambers again, His family turned against him while he tried to just get them to be at peace with each other... His community out casted him for his choice and he got betrayed by his own son (Just based on what's in the movie, and not real facts)... He paid the price dearly for what he did... But we always only look at the pains of women...

Yes. His colleagues have mentioned ' bhram' ( ie. delirium) condition but it was only for last 2 days. He got fever on 25th april which did not subside n caused brain stoke. He expired on 28th april 1740. वाताचा झटका is the reason mentioned by his colleagues n he was definitely not calling Mastani's name.
Battle was over in feb 1740 n he was perfectly fine. He was not sick at all. Movie is nonsense.

Oh god I can watch this over and over for just Priyanka's acting at 0:37 so real so subtle but so perfect. The exact expression a defeated and helpless wife would give in a situation like this who knows she is now entirely losing her husband. She wasn't so helpless losing him to another woman but she's completely helpless now losing him to sickness.

Reality was mastani was offered to bajirao as token of piece offering as he helped mastani father. Bajirao was already married but accepted the gift. Mastani was never madly in love who travelled alone from one place on her own cause she wanted bajirao. No, she actually lived a very tough life cause she was house arrest most of her life and bajirao never did anything to free her. Mastani and Kashibai both were cheated by bajirao. i wish bollywood shows real stories. Real scars and cuts which i believe will be more worth watching.

Do you think, women had freedom to pursue a man of their choice in 18th century? She was sent somewhere around 1731 with a very heavy dowry to Pune.( exact record of her arrival is not there) Her father expired in 1731 so whose responsibility was she then?

Chhatrasal perhaps thaught it better to give her to Bajirao than sending her to Mughal harem as he was very old. Also, Bajirao needed help of Rajputs in the future n he was ambitious. ( From 1728, Bajirao started campaigns to northern India so he neeed help from Hindu rulers of north.) Not to forget, Chhatrasal was almost 85 years old n Bajirao was only 28 in 1729, so it would have been a disrespect towards such an elderly person.

मस्तानी (मृत्यु : 1740 ई०) पेशवा बाजीराव प्रथम की दूसरी पत्नी थी। मस्तानी एक सनातनी क्षत्रिय राजपूत थीं व पन्ना के महाराज छत्रसाल की पुत्री थीं और प्रणामी सम्प्रदाय को मानने वाली थीं। 17वीं शताब्दी के आखिर में एक स्वामी प्राणनाथ होते थे, ये कृष्ण भक्त थे, जो आगे चल कर एक बड़े संत हुए, जिनके उस वक़्त हज़ारों अनुयायी हो गए, जिनमें बड़े बड़े लोग और राजे रजवाड़े भी शामिल थे। स्वामी प्राणनाथ सूफिज्म से भी प्रभावित थे और सुफिज़्म जो होता है, दरअसल अपने आराध्य के लिए दीवानगी ही हद तक प्रेम करने को कहा जाता है। अब स्वामी प्राणनाथ अपने ईष्ट भगवान श्री कृष्ण की भक्ति में ऐसे लीन हो जाते थे, कि उन्हें खुद का होश भी नहीं होता था। इसी दीवानगी में झूमने को भक्ति नृत्य भी कहा गया, जो मस्तानी भी करती थीं। साथ ही स्वामि प्राणनाथ सुबह की पूजा एक चादर बिछा कर ऐसी मुद्रा में बैठ कर करते थे कि देखने वालों को ये इस्लामी क्रिया दिखाई देती थी, लेकिन वो थी नहीं। मस्तानी भी इसी सम्प्रदाय से आती थीं, बल्कि उनका जन्म ही प्रणामी सम्प्रदाय में हुआ था, क्योंकि उनके पिता महाराजा छत्रसाल पहले से ही स्वामी प्राणनाथ के अनुयायी थे, मस्तानी के जन्म से भी बहुत पहले से, जब उनकी उम्र मात्र 23 वर्ष थी और मस्तानी के जन्म के वक़्त उनकी उम्र तकरीबन 60 साल से भी ज़्यादा थी। इस लिहाज से मस्तानी पैदाइशी प्रणामी थीं। जो कृष्ण की भक्ति में झूमती थीं, साथ ही सुबह के वक़्त वे भी उसी मुद्रा में बैठ कर पूजा करती थीं। हालांकि ये सम्प्रदाय कदापि इस्लाम से प्रभावित नहीं था, क्योंकि इस्लाम में मूर्ति पूजा वर्जित है, लेकिन देखने वालों को कुछ अजीब सा प्रतीत होता था। कुल मिला कर ये सम्प्रदाय भी सनातन संस्कृति का ही एक हिस्सा था और इस लिहाज़ से मस्तानी और उनके पिता महाराजा छत्रसाल भी सनातनी क्षत्रिय राजपूत थे, जो प्रणामी सम्प्रदाय से आते थे। मस्तानी की मां "रूहानी" के बारे में भी कई भ्रातियां हैं, कोई कहता है कि वे मुस्लिम थीं, कोई निज़ाम हैदराबाद की बेटी बताता है, जब कि उस वक़्त ना तो हैदराबाद होता था, ना निज़ामशाही, कोई उन्हें गुजराज की नर्तकी बताता है, लेकिन ये सभी बातें ग़लत व मिथ्या हैं। दरअसल रूहानी भी एक काल्पनिक नाम है, उनका असल नाम तो किसी को पता ही नहीं, लेकिन इस बात के पुख़्ता प्रमाण हैं कि वे एक पारसी महिला थीं, जिनके पिता फारस से आए थे, जो एक व्यापारी थे। उस दौर में कई पारसी लोग भाग कर भारत की तरफ आए थे और ये सभी कदापि मुस्लिम नहीं थे। ये यहूदियों की ही एक शाखा है, जो अग्नि की पूजा करते हैं। मस्तानी का विवाह पेशवा बाजीराव से मई 1729 में राजपूत खांडा पद्दति से हुआ था। उनके बाजीराव से एक पुत्र भी हुआ, जिसका नाम पहले कृष्णराव रखा गया, लेकिन पुणे के ब्राह्मणों ने उसका जनेऊ संस्कार करने से मना कर दिया, जिस वजह से उसे उसकी मां ने कृष्णसिंह नाम दिया। शमशेर बहादु एक उपाधि है जो बाजीराव ने ही अपने पुत्र को दी थी। बाद में बाजीराव और मस्तानी की मृत्यु के बाद उस बालक को जानबूझ कर इस्लाम कुबूलवाया गया, ताकि आगे चल कर उसका पेशवा की गद्दी और पेशवाई में कोई अधिकार ना रहे, ऐसा कई इतिहास्कारों का मत है।

This movie is epitome of distorting the history. SLB has made Devdas out of a Great warrior and war strategist who never lost a war. Winning 40 wars by the age of 40 is not a joke.
They made one of the legendary warriors and role model of Indian history into some devdas
The romance part was so boring and unnecessarily extended it prevented this film from becoming an extraordinary movie.

story of a great patriot and a warrior, who forgot his duties, which is paramount for a ruler!

The death facts of Bajirao are completely distorted in this movie.
He was never a fool n obsessive lover as depicted.
Bajirao left Pune for battle in dec.1739 n before proceeding for battle, he himself sent Mastani back ( who escaped from Shanivarwada n went behind him to army camp) After her return, she was arrested at her house. Bajirao was initially angry for her arrest but later he became practical. Bajirao was worried about his son's upanayan n wanted his mother to fix his marriage immidiately after his thread ceremony. ( Probably he wanted to know reaction of brahmin community) He wrote a letter to Nanasaheb who implemented Mastani's arrest, in feb.1740 giving him all the information about his expedition but without even mention of Mastani. In march, he again wrote letter to his mother n he was not at all sick. Naserjung battle was over in feb 1740. He then went to inspect newly acquired provinces of khargon n handiya n from there, straight to Raverkhed towards end of March 1740. All this time, Mastani was under housearrest n he did not do anything to free her. Strange but true.
At Raverkhed, he was busy planning for his next northern expedition. There are political letters written by him n he called his representative in Delhi darbar to Raverkhed so some politics was definitely on his mind. He got fever somewhere on 25 th april that caused stroke leading to his death on 28 th april. So the reason of his death was fever. He was busy with his political duties n you are saying- he forgot duty.

I was never able to like this story be it in history or in this movie. Two partners at the same time are just not ethical to me more so when a person wants to be with his first partner and wants them to except the second partner. It’s really hard for a person to share their partner with someone else be it women or men.
