I once read an article that had the phrase “don’t put it down, put it away”. It said this simple rule helps things to stay tidy. I definitely don’t practice it as much as I should, but it does help me.
No matter what I’m doing, I always stop and click your video immediately after I get the notification. I’m like “oou Stef posted” *abandons old video or whatever task I’m doing*
I am all for being kinder and more forgiving of who you are and how you function. We all have a regular rhythm or cycle. And I do a lot like you. I buy things to organize my things that I want to keep. Like my photos, or all my stuff in my medicine cabinet. Then the bins or organizers sit for weeks or months while I “get to it”. I just know that every process means that things are going to get a lot worse, before they get better. And am I REALLY up for that? So I procrastinate but at the same time I refuse to put those things away because I AM GOING TO DO IT!! And why put it all away just to have to do all the work to take it back out. It’s maddening. So cute watching Thora play the xylophone! She really wants to get up and get moving!
Know you are not the only redhead with many doom piles!! I’m a late in life diagnosed ADHD’er and this video resonates with me so much! I’ve learned to write everything down, things that I need to do and want to do, on a paper calendar.. advice from my therapist. That alone has helped me so much. I’m slowly getting organized and feel less overwhelmed if I can cross things off on my calendar daily. I feel you 😊
Oh the joys of the collections of just stick somewhere items. Hide-y-up is also very real - gathering the mess and shoving it somewhere that it can’t be seen. Glad you are trying to make progress towards not belittling yourself for how your brain works.
I feel like you are my best friend 🧡 this was absolutely hilarious 😂 Edit: Not the piles of doom, of course. But how you made funnies through the video.
😂😂😂😂 this was so funny..Doom piles! 😂😂..I'm so embarassed about my ' Doom piles' (mine are generally put into plastic bags so they can be hung up) that no body is allowed to come in our home..I can't seem to find an ounce of motivation to tackle all of these " Doom bags"..just the idea makes everything overwhelming ..I should just start in one area and do something because it would be better than nothing but I give up before I've even started..😂😂 ..anyway thankyou for this funny video because I feel less alone..Best wishes from Italy💚
Aside from learning not to feel guilt tho It's still a struggle, I've also learned to stop making unnecessary rules that we tend to put on ourselves. No I don't need to unload the dishwasher to do more dishes I will put them on a mat on the counter. No I don't need to vacuum the whole house if I decide my bedroom needs to be vacuumed. No i don't need to clean the kitchen before I cook I will put them in piles on the table etc. It has helped tremendously to at least getting small things done which then sometimes motivates me to keep going sometimes not until later which is okay. And yes I learned that through adhd videos or books lol.
I don't have ADHD, but have similar struggles as a person with autism. My Doom Pile is mostly our coffee table (knitting), but also my products drawer(s) 🤪
I am like this accept my doom pile is a pile of clothes in my bedroom!!! I must see to it sometime so glad there are others like me. Thought I was the only one and I am retired and get tired.😮😊
Loved loved loved this one! Was an eye opener. I am 63, and for the first time understanding myself a little bit better?? I think 🤔… You have such a special way to “explain” sth. I am so happy for your kiddos @Stefanie!
Oh yes, I am surrounded by doom and shame. But honestly, have semi- given up on some of the shame because not all of it belongs to me. I have the joy of living with a "doom-er" too. Isn't life a wonderful disaster?....

You crack me up 😂 You have a beautiful voice too, you should sing more.
Oh honey, I’m a walking doom pile!!! 😂😂😂
Just remember that you never make memories cleaning house. Spend time with your babies, they grow up so fast! ❤

So relatable!
Such a cute video! Many people can relate to "doom piles." Yes, acceptance is the key! Try tackling "One-doompile-at-a-time."
