- I WORKED AS A GREENKEEPER DURING GREENS MAINTENANCE! MY NEW JOB?! We all moan about golf courses, about greenskeepers and green staff, especially during maintenance week. Holo Tyne greens or spiked greens as some people like to call it and sanded greens is everyones worse nightmare, but the boys at Woolley Park Golf club wanted me to see exactly how they do it... and why they do it... lets do it... and lets do it now!

I've just gone back to work as a greenskeeper at the age of 64 after 4 years of retirement and 43 years working in aerospace engineering before that. I've never physically worked so hard in my life, but it's very satisfying and great exercise. I'll be out in the rain tomorrow morning at 5.30 changing all 18 pin locations.

I’m 19 and thinking of becoming a greenskeeper. Iv been golfing my entire life and for a year and a half now Iv been working at a GC. I really like getting up In the morning and seeing the sun rise as you are out on a beautiful course with the dew on the grass and the clear air!

Just make sure you wash down after you get off the course, and don't put anything near your face that's come in contact with the grass. Most pro golfers and superintendents suffer from debilitating illnesses due to extended exposure to pesticides, or worse such as cancer.

Excellent! Part-time maintenance staff at Indian Hills in Murfreesboro, TN for over 20 years. Had many of those maintenance weeks in years gone by.

Great video to show the work the greenkeepers do to let us enjoy the game of golf. A lot of work goes in and as you said they're not always appreciated for their hard work.

This was maybe the most interesting golf video I've ever watched and I did watch the whole video. Your videos have always been great but this one was the top one. It gave me insight into what actually goes into the maintenance at a golf course and I will never again complain about how the greens are being worked on. Thanks.
Definitely do more of these once we’re back up and running. Love seeing course maintenance. Always kept my eye on what they do then copy it on my lawn as best I can. My neighbours think I know what I’m doing when they see me top dressing!
Thanks James & the maintenance staff for a good presentation for what goes into golf course maintenance. It's a heck of a lot of work & perhaps many of us will be much more appreciative of what goes on & not complain so much it we see an imperfection.

A most interesting video on things that go on behind the scenes on a golf course. When out playing you see the green keepers out there doing their work to keep the course up to scratch. Took the opportunity a few weeks ago to watch the hollow tine machine being used
and thought that's going to take some time to get the green back in shape, hardly know its been done now. The green keepers say its going to be hard work to get it how they'd like it to be after the last winter we've had. About time Brad's second fitting video was shown.

I work at whitensville golf club and we have 2 days to plug and top dress fairways, greens, T's. Long days but its always a good time good with a good crew of guys. Awsome job!

Like your videos. I worked on a golf course maintenance crew all through high school here in the States. I did it to get my golf for free and it was great experience and I learned alot about taking care of grass. Now 30 years later it still spills into my lawn maintenance program.

My dream job..... I love turf science and grass. Sadly I love looking after my own lawn. Great job, greens are so hard to maintain. Nice to hear about the turf nursery, a course I used to play on contaminated the greens with some sand that had oil in it. The sand was kept in ton bags on the warehouse floor, the roof leaked, the floor got wet, the oil soaked in to the sand. They spread it on the greens and it killed 2 of the greens. They had no turf nursery!
Love the dogs supervising all your hard work. Greenskeeping seems like tuff work

Always enjoyed golf but I never realized how much attention to detail and amount of work these greenskeepers put in until I decided to put one in at my house. It’s real not that easy to get a nice looking green. Nice job boys!!

Great video mate, I was a greens assistant as teenager it was my first real job and I loved it. This could be a little bit of a series? Pop in and spend a day with the guys once every few weeks (or when they do a big job) I think a lot of golfers could benefit hugely from seeing the work that goes into maintaining a golf course.
Should be more of these types of videos watching what the Greenkeepers do. The more we are told the more I would appreciate what the Greenkeeping staff do. Knew they worked hard and had a lot to do, but hadn't the faintest idea its was so much. As ever James a really enjoyable video !
