Dude, just found your channel and have been surfing your videos for the last hour or so. What a treasure trove of info!! Subscribed!! Keep up the great work and thank you so much!!😃
@@micah_raygun_ Hey, glad it helps! I really really enjoy your Daggerfall videos, ever since you released your first. If it helps further, Sandbox Generator is probably up there as one of my favourites currently and I just released a supplement on Itch called Solus that, while mainly for OD&D, has a streamlined, system agnostic dungeon generation system that produces similar results with d6s.
@@Chaoclypse oh neat you know about my channel! I appreciate the support and the recommendations. I mostly play Basic Fantasy RPG as a solo game because I'm stupid and like to make things complicated, but I'll definitely check out the OD&D supplement and put it to work in my game 👍
Fantastic video! I'm always looking for new things that I can use to enhance my solo rp sessions. I didn't know about most of the stuff you talked about in this video, so thank you!
I just found your video and channel on the recommendation of Matt Jackson's videos. Thank you so much for these suggestions! I'm just getting into solo roleplaying and have assembled a lot of resources, but these that you have suggested I think will be extremely useful in organizing everything and streamlining play.
Definitely! I’m less familiar with Ironsworn’s creator’s recent work (still need to check out Starforged) but Perplexing Ruins has absolutely been killing it with his stellar output recently!
I have a lot of these resources but as I'm sure many can understand its hard to pick out the most worthwhile when starting out. I have been trying to go through all of the books and resources I have and making a list of what each resource does best so i can have a go to list when playing. Its a little overwhelming and my ADHD doesn't make it any easier! Your video has helped me get a better idea how each of these might rank for me.
Another interesting and informative video. I love Deck or Many Dungeons! When I want a bigger dungeon, I make it multi-level by using the king as a staircase instead of final room.
@@martinouellet3540 That's a really simple and neat way of doing it! I'll actually give it a shot myself as well. Just off the top of my head, this probably benefits from having a "threshold", like, you have to roll at or under your current level on a die in order to end a dungeon. So, on level 4, it's way higher of a chance for the dungeon to end than on level 1. The die type can affect it too - D4 makes it end much sooner, and D10 makes for a much longer dungeon! Might be something worth trying!
So happy to find your channel! Great advice. This came at the perfect time for me, since I was feeling kind of lost in the all the options we have for solo play these days.
This is where Perplexing Ruins was first introduced to me. It has inspired me to generate my own generation worksheets. My hexcrawl template is largely based on Sandbox Generator by Atelier Clandestine and is perfect for Solo play and group play, alike. The Dungeon generator is proving to be more challenging to design.
Yeah, it's really great! I was aware of cyclic dungeon generation for a few years due to Unexplored - it's interesting how well it carries over to TTRPGs!
Late to the party but I really hope you’ll delve into the cyclic generation and how you implement it into solo play..( I’ll be pondering this for days I’m sure lol)
Thank you so much Matt! The tools we use have some cross-over, and I've actually been introduced to a bunch due to your videos. I recently found another one just called "Sandbox Generator" on DTRPG that is very good indeed, and has a very classic feel to the results, so I thought you might be interested! It has settlement, hex, dungeon, etc generators and it goes into a lot of detail.
This is a very informative video. Dungeon shelving (and hexcrawling) can be great fun in solo gaming. I’m familiar with the products that you recommend and agree that they’re excellent. I have to admit to not looking into Delve much and you’ve inspired me to give it another look. Thank you for sharing.
Im a year late but this was great! My friend and I have been trying to create a Garden of Eden style dungeon with some smaller floors above it. We have alot of ideas for different floor themes but Ive been lost on trying to put something interesting on every floor. This looks like it will help a lot
Easy dungeon generator and ttrpg I love is called D100 Dungeon! Books of D100 Dungeon A Solo Adventuring Game like GM's guide The Lost Tome Extraordinary like Players handbook The Dragons Return like Monster manuel.

Thank you so much for the kind words!
cant say it better. Same here!
The revised Perilous Wilds has a system-neutral dungeon generation as well that I've been using for solo games for weeks. It's fantastic!
Perilous Wilds may just be the best published role playing material EVER.
Thank you. A much simpler explanation of what I am looking for. Your work is fantastic.
Thank you! I’m really glad it helps.
Thanks so much for this! I've been trying to build my procedural dungeon generation from scratch, which has really brought my campaign to a halt.

That's awesome to hear! :D
Love the tip with the binder sheet!
DIY lamination... kinda! :D
Everything that comes out from Ironsworn and Perplexing Ruins just blows me away.

That sheet from perplexed ruins seems brilliant. Thanks!
It is!! I use it a ton for quick games.

Thanks for the kind words. That's definitely a good way of going about it!
@@Chaoclypse To keep an element of surprise, you roll at the start of each new level to see if it's the last one or if it goes on deeper.

Literally had the same idea today as I was having the same problem as in the video where dungeons are too small.

I'm glad I could help! I definitely had some difficulty myself wading through the options. I've found it best to start as simple as possible!
@@Chaoclypse I got so fed up, at some point I ended up learning the Major system and used a handful of colored d10s to generate random words 😅

I was looking at that last blog post about Cyclic dungeons as well. That would make for a great video in the future.

Very glad I could help!
I found this to be very relaxing.
Nice overview, I will check some of these out!

Thank you! Yeah, Delve I think doesn't get enough attention since it's primarily for Ironsworn, but it works great across many other systems :D

What's the music you are using?
You use Ironsworn almost like I do.
Nice! Yeah, it's very versatile. Really enjoy your videos as well as your talks with Artichoke Dip!
I just like using Dwarf Fortress Legends viewers for everything.
