    I'm also interested in the QY700. What kind of synth engine is onboard? Also, are the sequencer features similar at all to the RM1X/RS7000? That sequencer has some ridiculous, unique features, which I've always found inspiring. Good video. Reminds me a lot of 808-State or YMO during the 90's acid house uprising.

    • @debukas
      @debukas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The onboard sounds aren’t massively inspiring, but still very usable if you can see past the GM nature of them. Everything is tweakable including the onboard FX. My band bis used this live for a good few years, recreating string/keys/percussion parts perfectly well for live use. I’ve never used the RM/RS but my guess would be they carry a few more handy features for live use based on their manufacture date. Need to get my hands on one now to compare! And thanks btw, 808/YMO are very much responsible for this 😅

    Never seen that yamaha sequencer before, is ace. Seems a pretty handy performance tool. Your jam sounds class btw! Specially those main synth lead chords! Interested to know how much of this would be taken with you to a gig? portability wise I wouldn’t want to limit myself but seems some tricky decisions may be needed? Which pieces do you consider essential?

    • @debukas
      @debukas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's deep! An interesting challenge that's for sure. It lacks some of the features you would probably want in a live sequencer, esp if you're used to the Roland style of sequencing. Gig-wise, hmm, I'd like to explore the QY more to see it could really work as a live sequencer. It weighs a (relative) tonne! The Novation modules and the BX-8 would defo find a space from the point of view of portability and tweakability. Thanks for the comment!
