I've been really digging into my QY700 recently and I figured out a couple things you might find interesting. I was able to find sysex commands that allow a midi controller to choose between each of the pattern sections A-H without having to scroll up to the top. I was also able to create a sort of mute control by using extremely long attack times mapped to midi buttons in toggle mode. It works perfect for drums or somewhat fast tracks that don't utilize custom attack settings. This allows me to mute and unmute any combination of 8 tracks simultaneously (if your controller has 16 buttons available you can have all 16 tracks with mutes). I was thinking about making a video about how to unlock some of these hidden features but I've never made a youtube video before so it might be a while. There are lots of hidden parameters in the effects that the UI doesn't have available. They are only accessible via sysex commands. Things like sweepable eq's for the delay and chorus effects, feeback density and er/rev balance for the reverbs, multiple stage options for the phaser with lfo differential etc. All of those effects parameters can be sequenced into empty user styles too.

I have a windows 7 machine with a USB floppy drive. Can it recognize the Yamaha QY-700 floppy so I can load *.mid (midi) files directly onto the floppy from my Windows 7 machine, so the Yamaha QY-700 can see them? Thank you so much!

Hi again man. Truly a monster machine, you think it still makes sense today ? I'm fascinated by the assisted composition, it could probably help. I wonder one thing can I use all these combinations of phrases and midi triggers with my samples only ? I think no problem but how much space can I have on a floppy, that worries me a bit..I find it has some fascinating sounds but what I'm wondering is if I can just use my sounds and exploit all the potential of the machine and its functions!? Thanks !

I ordered a QY 700 from Reverb, it was almost out of my price range and feel scared to use it, lol. (I don't want to break it or so) Before I resell it I would like to make some tests and learn from YT. Could you make a tutorial how to make a tons of automation on everything, as if it was a groovebox, to automate the heck out of it, lol, in order to make it sound "modern". (Automate the Cutoff+Reso+ADSR+Reverb+Delay+Panning pushing it to the limit what it can deliver, not only just one sound but more tracks.) Once I hade a QY300, it was fun to watch the sliders move when I loaded in some Jarre midi files from other midi-programmers. It would be interesting to see how much you could change the sound via automation. Didn't you change the internal battery since 1997? Anyway, great video there!

hello thank you for the walkthroughs. i have a question regarding midi connection to multiple instrument racks. do i connect midi out (from qy700) to rack A in and from A (out) to rack B (in)? or do the racks all have midi thru? if theres no midi thru can i connect it as i suggested and just assign midi channels? thanks
