Just when I think there's not any more room in the RV space you guys come along and your attention to detail and couple dynamic makes for very watchable media. Excellent job guys. It helps that you guys aren't faking it.
Agree. That's, to me, the biggest downsides to vans, "C"'s, And "A"s (assuming no towed). Any time you want to go anywhere, you have to break camp, unless you got bikes/cycles/e-bikes.
We had a travel trailer, then a large class C (same floorplan as that one). We are now in a class B and would not go back. The ease of driving and flexibility with getting places is worth the smaller space. It makes traveling so much nicer. Much easier setup also.
I've heard a lot of good things on the Travato. I know a lot of professional bass fisherman and obviously towing a boat, your options are pretty limited. For ages, many have had the truck bed campers, and while they do the trick, all the set up is a pain. With the advent of the "off road"/boondock/all wheel drive class "B"s, a fair number are making the switch to the "B"s. The ones who have switched over say they love it.
Artic fox is an amazing product. I have their truck camper and have not had one thing that has needed fixing. I can’t believe it. Best RV for your money hands down
I've had a 2018 Thor Vegas, a 2022 Coachmen Nova and now a 2023 Coachmen Beyond. I can say that the Beyond is Beyond amazing! I have been to all the major RV Shows over the years and have sat in every B Van like 15 times trying to figure out what best suits me. My van is perfect for anything and everything I want to do. I'm so happy you got to see the Beyond and review it. I have the 22D wht on wht. My eyes still light up every time I see my van
A good compromise between the Class C and B is the 2024 Coachmen Prism Elite 24MBE. It's on the Mercedes chassis and has one of the largest rear bathrooms I've ever seen in B+ and it can come with a washer/dryer combo. Matt's RV reviewed a 2023 Coachmen Prism Elite with the washer/drier combo. It was sale priced at $119K. But no matter what you decide please get a third party inspection (Blue Ox) done prior to signing on the dotted line. The only lemon you really want is what you put in your ice tea.
Since, as you mentioned, they depreciate so quickly, perhaps you should consider buying a used Coachman Beyond. With the knowledge you've gained in your current van, you know what to look for when inspecting an RV. That would make for some great videos as well.
We have the Coachmen Beyond 22RB and we love it. We were originally going to buy the Coachmen 22C, but after seeing the RB we decided we wanted the twin beds with the bigger bathroom & more storage. We added some wooden slats for the bed that allows us to turn it into a Queen bed. We got the generator model, not the Li3 and we don’t regret it. Yes it’s expensive, but we don’t feel it’s lost that much value compared to other models, so we’re very happy with it & it’s important that it’s AWD and on a Ford chassis so repairs will be easier than a Mercedes chassis.
Over the years we have had a Class A, a Fifth wheel, a Class C and now a Class B. We camped with the kids in the A and Fifth wheel, so we needed the room and pretty much just went to a site and stayed awhile. After retirement we decided we wanted to travel and explore. Purchased a 26' C and did not want to pull a toad so as to be able to just stop at any tourist trap we wanted. Thought we would just accept that we would find a parking spot just a little farther away and walk. Good idea, but definitely not aways an option. I would suggest this, every time you go somewhere with Mr. Lemon, pretend he is approximately say just three or four feet longer. Then explore ideas on what you would do. Yes, more room would be great, but for us the mobility is a game changer. Also let me add that we purchased a Coachmen Beyond 22C LI3 two years ago and love it. The quality as you noticed shows. Also, it is truly amazing how much the management at the Factory level stands behind their product and customers. Can't stress that enough.
I'm 70 years old and have been around the US many times. Currently in a 2016 Class C. This is not a commercial, LOL but if I were starting over knowing what I know now I would be in the Coachman Li3 ($157K) purchased from Sunshine State RV's in Gainesville, FL. Look at their Elite Club. They will fly you there to pick up or deliver free anywhere in the conus. Northwood Artic Fox is a quality built trailer. I will never own an RV with slides again. If you must have slides, stay away from Schwintek. Good Luck!
Guys.. i own a property in Colorado, and i keep my 5th wheel set up for living. I travel in class B several times a year, and i take the 5th wheel out for multi week camping.. you can have both
We started with a travel trailer, then we had a class c 30’ with a towable and now we’re driving a Class B+ 24’. We’re absolutely love our B+. The freedom and be able to park about every where. Sightseeing and don’t have to drive back and forth. We’re Boondocking almost always. No need for full hock ups at all. ❤
Stick with the "B". I have done the trailer, C, and A. I now have the Nova 20D and will never go back. Slides and leveling jacks are creations by the devil. Also, check on the cost of good storage in your area 'cause none of those rigs are going to fit in your driveway. Now, I would probably never take another 10 month trip in the B like we did with the A, but I am OK with that. The ease of just jumping in and going is worth the smaller space. My wife does miss the washer and dryer and I miss the outdoor TV at times but technology is your friend and you can work around that.
What I don't miss about our little trailer was that there were so many places that we wanted to pull over for lunch and we couldn't find a place to park it! We only had a 12 foot pop-up A-frame towed by a Subaru Outback. Honestly, I don't know what people do when they're pulling a huge fifth wheel with a monster pickup truck. It's so limiting. We love our nimble little B van. And, likewise, I never want slides or self-leveling jacks. Too many things to go wrong or leak. Less is more.
back in the 1840's on the Oregon Trail families would start out by trying to bring everything with them in their wagons. About mid point of the trail there would be abandoned couches/stoves/pianos/dinnerware etc by the side of the trail as people learned the hard way the the wilder you go the less you can bring. travel fast with lower comfort.... or.... travel slow with more comfort. (And big rigs have to stop when the road gets rough) 'tis ever the choice!
I vote: TAKE A HAMMER TO IT! Mr Lemmon Chassis is great, keep the stuff that works, and customize the rest from the plumbing up! You’d have to spend a lot for a good builder, but you would’ve be investing in good materials and throwing away the Thor stuff!
Hey, I love I love what you all do. Both of you are so engaging. I’m a supporter. I’ll try and figure out how to send a donation or just a wave of support.

I have driven a one-ton truck with a 36-foot fifth wheel travel trailer, and it is great! It tracks better than a tongue trailer and other than cornering, you hardly know it is back there.
My sister and BIL were big RV'ers for over 40 years. The first one they bought when they were rookies, "The Long Long Trailer" was the first thing that popped into my mind. Pretty much came true when we coming down a mountain outside Monarch. We noticed we kept going faster and faster down the mountain. My BIL being the cool under fire types didn't tell us the breaks were over heated until we were just about hitting the curves on two wheels. Made for a funny story after the fact. Not so much at the time.
Coachmen is a great choice. One thing I don't like about the Beyond is the back windows don't open so no ventilation over the beds. I would get the Nova 20RB in a heartbeat. A bit more storage due to the shorter front cabin and the 2024 model comes with the tire and ladder on the back. You can find them cheaper so shop around if you start to look. NIRVC is a good place to start.
I like class C’s but not really that one. You could go with a shorter one with a better kitchen (plus being able to get to the bathroom is key!). But vans are my favorite for ease of driving and setting up. Loved the first two units… someday??? 😂😊
I mean its really pretty easy for most people. What type of traveling are you planning on doing. If you go somewhere are stay in the same spot for long periods of time the 5th wheel or travel trailer are the way to go. If your traveling and staying for a night or two and then moving on again with many stops along the way then class B. I thing if you go to a smaller class C you might find your sweet spot
You'll hurt Mr. Lemon's feelings. Although I love the convenience of a class B rather than towing an rv. I love❤ the coachman. I might buy that. Great video 👍 and I'll look at your merchandise.
Wow a desk, house vac, and patio? That forest river one is so cute! Not sure how it would travel but dang it looks comfy and homey. The merch is cute! Great job!
Bob. Canyon adventure Van has the built in vacuum system as an option in their storage system for the Storyteller. So with the bathroom you got it all. Look at the lower end one and upgrade as needed depending on your overlanding.
They are all very cool. We just sold our boat today. 😢 love the modern options. And you’re wearing a Charleston shirt! Of course that’s where we are from. 🎉
I’ve had a class a and that was great when you parked tough to drive and maneuver. I now have a roadmaster 2500 and I do like it. I think out of the obvious you showed us. I think if I was to do it again I would do the fifth wheel so much easier to drive. I’m sure you guys will make a great decision. I’m looking forward to seeing it thank you for finally getting the merch on board.
We’re traveling in our DIY Sprinter van for now. I’ll be retiring at the end of the year, then we plan to travel mostly or full time for a year or two in the van. We’ll probably get something bigger in a few years.
Guys I loved my fifth wheel but for me , as a solo traveler, it was too much for me to drive around. Plus, it was difficult to find spots like when you drive a class B and even some class C’s. Go and take a look at Truck Campers and see how you like them. You would need a truck but the truck can stay with you if you ever decide to get a different type of rig. The best part for me is that I can go almost anywhere, boondock and take the camper off the truck and go explore or to run errands if I like. It has a lot of benefits and the footprint is by far one of the best.
Coachmen has really nice quality cabinets in the Bs, that's really nice. The cabinetry in their Cs is not the same. Our next rig will have the twin beds I think, they are so convenient.
Really enjoy your videos. I am just amazed that you guys don’t really research a Pleasure Way plateau TS. There’s many many on the market right now used. Just came off a five month -21 state -six national park trip with absolutely zero issues. Love my Pleasure Way plateau had suspension changed. 3 inch lift can go off road, love it. MB Sprinter amazing to drive.
Great discovery process video, Bob & Hillary! The intended purpose of each design is so unique, you almost need one of each, which makes for a very difficult decision unless you've already won the lotto. I am most impressed with the Coachman level of quality and design. They seem like the most well-built in an industry not known for durability and quality. The Beyond is a perfect layout and chassis. Many of their interior components are built by Amish craftspeople with a lot of integrity. I saw a used 2019 Coachman Crossfit in Seattle a couple weeks ago for $85K. So tempting! Thanks as always for taking us along. 🙏
I would base it on the places and adventures you enjoy. For us; * Boondocking * Traveling backcountry, dirt & sand roads to scenic mountains, trailheads & ocean destinations * Short impulse type visits to friends &/or towns * Parking it in our home driveway * Not being dependent on campgrounds. Maybe Im wrong but I kinda feel these are also things you two enjoy.
I have a 2023 Ford Transit Cargo Van with ecoboost and 360 camera, etc. I love it. I'm currently slowly converting it to a full time live in van. I have been living in it since late 12/23. It's the shorter version,, which is the only drawback for me.
Please don’t let looks and cuteness suck you in again. You’re doing free marketing for some of the manufacturers known to give customers headaches. Look at how you’re going to use the vehicle, then decide A,B,C. Suggest you look at secondhand premium brand class Bs known for their build quality. Coachman vans have a decent reputation…if you don’t like the Beyond price, go for lightly used and the Nova line. Any bugs have likely been worked out.
I love the beyond rb just like you but can even consider something that expensive … but I’m looking at lightly used … they do depreciate quickly … so think used .. under 50k in miles … doesn’t even matter if it’s a bit older … it’s the miles and how it was cared for. 🇺🇸👍😘 love your Chanel … thorough and raw truth!! I appreciate it!
Watch the sales and shop the country for the best prices. I think you would be pleasantly surprised. FLA (Sun State) and TX (Motor Home Specialist) seem to have very good pricing. When the dealers start to get the new models in (mid summer) is a good time to start looking and pricing as they will want to make dealers now that the market is softening.
Ahh Bob and Hillary. The webs we weave. First trailer supper nice (but trailer) Second trailer supper nice (but bigger trailer). Around here in Florida camp sites are pretty pricey and it really depends on what folks are looking for. You want to get away from the norm or be part of.
It sounds like the AWD B or a small C (like Ekko/Granite Ridge 22T) seems to be your ideal rig. Maybe see if you can rent a few of the rigs you really like to take them on a test run boon docking somewhere. Maybe record it, and share with us what you think. 😉
To each his/her own but to me a Coachman feels small compared to the Travato (windows). Also, they don’t have the interior storage (under passenger bed) like the Travato. Good luck finding the camper that works for you!
Don’t you think the Forester trailer is really missing a lounge area? That one couch seems small for the size of the trailer. I’m begging you two to build your own van and share the build process week to week with us. Love the content. Keep up the great work.
Being 6 foot plus myself, choose a fifth wheel used, 2020 or newer &50,000 or under. New truck $60,000 or less and you have twice as much for the same cost of your B van.
The ibex is nice but more than half is glass, I wouldn’t take that to a cold climate, I’d park that on a property to live in. I really like the coachman 20xg , for the money I think that’s the best of both worlds, roomy and travel friendly.
We were looking at used Coachmans '21 / '22 ish with low miles. I may let someone else take the hit on the depreciation because the one we looked at was 60k less than new.
I love the Class B but not the price! I loved the rear bathroom and it wasn't like an airplane bathroom. I don't like the Twin beds. I wish they could go together to make one big bed. But I see y'all more in the Class B than the other two for sure.
I remember that having a vehicle you could park in driveway…that Coachmen is even too long, isn’t it? Hilary, would you feel comfortable driving a truck with a trailer or a 5th wheel? I love the idea of setting up a trailer as a base camp, and having a truck to do the exploration day trips, but I also still like camping out away from the crowds. My vote? Save up for your Coachman.
Bob love ya but those are water heaters... Lightly used tow vehicles mean not dragging your house around with you on every day trip or grocery run. You guys rule
I have no experience but they do have smaller class c or some call them b plus vans and they are cheaper than that beyond. How do you put a price on your happy home? Love watching your videos.
:) WOW! Mr. Lemon may be seating bullets soon! LOL! THANKS MUCH for sharing! I do like the 1st trailer for 50K :) ALL the BEST and the hunt goes on! :) Cheers! ! !
Thumbs UP! really enjoy your videos...As the Promaster has demonstrated, front-wheel drive is garbage for anything but flat and/or hard surface driving. So... AWD or 4WD is the answer and now will determine your choices - van or truck based. I'm not a Ford guy, but the AWD Transit is the practical van choice and can be serviced (if needed) anywhere. My van vote is a custom or self built AWD Transit. Build something similar/cheaper to the Adventure Wagon interior and use the van as you build it out permanently. For a truck, the real and only answer is a 4WD diesel dually with a camper, small 5th wheel, or travel trailer. Additionally, a goose neck horse trailer with living quarters (all welded aluminum construction) is the best built tow-able that is made for durability. Also, a goose neck trailer has the front mounted bed area like a 5th wheel, but isn't any taller than your van with A/C unit. You could also build out a short (26 foot or less) all aluminum welded goose neck cargo trailer for a full custom tow-able. Standard cargo trailer builds are cool too and very affordable and could be towed with a smaller truck if needed. Summary - Just get the AWD Transit and custom build by you or an outfitter. Keep it simple and quick and get busy living!
The first unit is nice, but you have to store it when not being used. It can't be parked in you driveway. Forget overloading. It's nice, but I like the van life.
My husband wants to know where the batteries are. Underneath? BTW. Thanks so much for all your videos. I finally got my maps working on my Pioneer stereo thanks to you!
There are no solutions, only tradeoffs. So it all comes down to which tradeoffs matter to you. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. I remember a video where Hillary took Mr. Lemon to a hospital visit. (No updates, so here’s hoping no news is good news). But that would be more challenging with the towables and larger rigs. So how important is the mobility of a Class B in your travels? I think the Winnebago Ekko (and the clones) are probably a good compromise between size and maneuverability for you. A bit bigger than Mr. Lemon, still pretty compact and ability for light off-roading.
Class C: You would be able to get into bathroom with that slide closed. No one would buy one that did not work for that so they could use the bathroom when traveling and not have to open slide first. I would buy a C with NO slides though. Also, the locks for the under storage compartments usually are the same for all RVs with that type of compartment.... So, should change the locks to a different type with a "unique" key. A 450 is good--permits more CCC than a 350.
@@susandougherty1076 Yes, we have a Beyond 22C with rear couch and sleep with the back windows open when boondocking. We love it and the quality cannot be beat.
Boy the price of the van and all them upgrades you’d most likely do puts you at the price of a STO. And yes the price of those Bs could get you a truck/5th wheel and way more space, but not being able to go out in BFE for lone boondocking I’d miss. The camping experience that a large truck/ 5th and/or trailer just not us atm in our life atleast. As always love watching you all and thanks for the video. Enjoy and be safe out there you two. 👍🏽

You just made our day! One of the best compliments we’ve ever gotten. Thank you 😊
we love our trailer. You get to your spot, setup, disconnect the tow vehicle and you can go anywhere without disconnecting. Love it.

That 1st one is a destination travel trailer why price so good & has so many luxury items. Not to be pulled everywhere. Not typical travel trailer.
Bob. Canyon adventure Van has the built in vacuum system as an option in their storage system for the Storyteller. So with the bathroom you got it all. Look at the lower end one and upgrade as needed depending on your overlanding.
Oh wow! I had no idea. Thanks for sharing!
They are all very cool. We just sold our boat today. 😢 love the modern options. And you’re wearing a Charleston shirt! Of course that’s where we are from. 🎉
Thanks!
Absolutely loved the Class B in the end.
For us;
* Boondocking
* Traveling backcountry, dirt & sand roads to scenic mountains, trailheads & ocean destinations
* Short impulse type visits to friends &/or towns
* Parking it in our home driveway
* Not being dependent on campgrounds.
The first ibex I believe is a destination trailer. Ie it’s not built for traveling, just planting it in an rv park.
I vote for the Coachmen 22rB......that's what we have but the non-Li3 version. You will love it!!!
The class C has a lot of room. I had a nice one, but it's too much room to heat/cool!
We agree!
Fifth Wheel: For me? I had the fire. Change out with residential or compressor or anything else, but that absorption fridge...
Arctic fox
💕 that is the one that I want they make a great fifth wheel one of the best
Im sure you know there are smaller trailers available that somewhat off road. Also shorter Class C but those can cost more than a Class B.
You should look at them a much smaller class C because they are closest to a van. But so much more room especially in the height department.
Yeah good idea 👍🏼
Watch the sales and shop the country for the best prices. I think you would be pleasantly surprised. FLA (Sun State) and TX (Motor Home Specialist) seem to have very good pricing. When the dealers start to get the new models in (mid summer) is a good time to start looking and pricing as they will want to make dealers now that the market is softening.
I can’t wait to get some shirts and coffee mugs. Thank you.
Awesome! Thank you!😊
Ahh Bob and Hillary. The webs we weave. First trailer supper nice (but trailer) Second trailer supper nice (but bigger trailer). Around here in Florida camp sites are pretty pricey and it really depends on what folks are looking for. You want to get away from the norm or be part of.
True! LOL
It sounds like the AWD B or a small C (like Ekko/Granite Ridge 22T) seems to be your ideal rig. Maybe see if you can rent a few of the rigs you really like to take them on a test run boon docking somewhere. Maybe record it, and share with us what you think. 😉
Stick with the Coachman B either Nova or Beyond.
We totally agree. We want to so bad!
I love the Ibex
Being 6 foot plus myself, choose a fifth wheel used, 2020 or newer &50,000 or under. New truck $60,000 or less and you have twice as much for the same cost of your B van.
The ibex is nice but more than half is glass, I wouldn’t take that to a cold climate, I’d park that on a property to live in. I really like the coachman 20xg , for the money I think that’s the best of both worlds, roomy and travel friendly.
The patio is nice but all I can see is a rock being tossed through the sliding door while going down the road! 😬
Find a truck/trailer/5th wheel combo for sale all set up. You'll save a bunch.
Have you guys explored molded fiberglass trailers/in this video you talked about depreciation and it seems to be less in the fiberglass models.
Bob love ya but those are water heaters...
Lightly used tow vehicles mean not dragging your house around with you on every day trip or grocery run.
You guys rule
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Where would you park it ?
We have no place to park it.
Love you guys!! So much fun to watch 😊. Stay away from anything with BAL accuslide. I love coachman vans!
I have no experience but they do have smaller class c or some call them b plus vans and they are cheaper than that beyond. How do you put a price on your happy home? Love watching your videos.
I think you should get a custom B. Have you looked at the noovo they say the custom make...
love you guys. Great job.
Thank you! 😊
:) WOW! Mr. Lemon may be seating bullets soon! LOL! THANKS MUCH for sharing! I do like the 1st trailer for 50K :) ALL the BEST and the hunt goes on! :) Cheers! ! !
Haha, Marty! You just never know! Have a great weekend!
Thumbs UP! really enjoy your videos...As the Promaster has demonstrated, front-wheel drive is garbage for anything but flat and/or hard surface driving.
Hello from Columbia SC. We just got a Renegade Vienna Check out a renegade they make a very nice quality unit.
We will check one out next time we one. Thanks for the great suggestion!
Lemon, still pretty compact and ability for light off-roading.
winnebago travato vs thor tellaro you should just get the winnebago travato 59k or 59kl
the siren call of slideouts
True
Class C: You would be able to get into bathroom with that slide closed. No one would buy one that did not work for that so they could use the bathroom when traveling and not have to open slide first. I would buy a C with NO slides though. Also, the locks for the under storage compartments usually are the same for all RVs with that type of compartment.... So, should change the locks to a different type with a "unique" key. A 450 is good--permits more CCC than a 350.
Grand Ronde is a small town in Oregon.
Oh! Had no idea. Did we say it correctly?
@@Vancaskeys almost...the e is silent👍
@@scottd2063 haha! Almost had it!
Look into Sunshine State RV in Gainesville Florida. They only sell class B's all brands. Very reputable and great prices.
Look at the Coachman Beyond with the rear sofa/couch. Back windows open and a full length refrigerator.
hi guys n I wish u look at used Travato with the beds since I c prices have come down. I saw one under$49k 2018 model. that's yr winnebago pulled water lines inside makin 4 season camper n it slept up to people. fyi thka rox
So, which is better, the Noovo or the Ford Class B
You guys do great rv tours. I’m with you, Coachman Beyond RB is the way to go. Go to Gainsville Sunshine RV in Florida and get your best deal!
You should check out Bob Ledford's Adventure Motorhomes in Greer, SC They have some really nice Winnebago Travato 59k at very reasonable prices.
I to like the Beyond. …but I’m thinking custom build for you. Good content for the channel would be to visit a couple of custom builders.
I would love the ibex for a summer home! Just where would you park it?
Right! We wouldn’t have anywhere to park it.
I like the coachman too but how is it better than the Travato and other brands with this layout?
Oh, you gotta do the Coachman Beyond! It so looks like you two! You’ll just have to sell the cars and the house to afford it!🤪😀
I would love for you to find, and review an Embassy RV. I would be interested in your opinion of this product.
We have been trying to find one! If you find one let us know.
Nugget of knowlege.....
Embassy will do rebuilds to existing built chassis.
The 2024 Forest River Solera 32DSB is built on the Ford E-450 cutaway chassis, not the F-450.
