  • If you're looking for the cheapest way to get from the airport to the city centre, then this is the video for you. Since we made the video, public transport costs have increased a bit, so it's not $5.22 anymore, according to the app, you can expect to pay around $6 for the trip. And if you don't have a Hop card, it's an extra $5 for the card (the total is still less than the other options)
    Here are some helpful links:
    Auckland Transport - at.govt.nz/
    Sky Bus - www.skydrive.co.nz/
    Auckland Airport - www.aucklandairport.co.nz/tra...
    #aucklandairport #publicransport #newzealand
Here is a step-by-step to get from the International terminal to the city using public transport:
*Download the AT Mobile app before you arrive at Auckland Airport. Use the journey planner to enter the time and date that you'll be arriving to be a bit more prepared regarding cost and times of buses and trains.
*As you arrive in Auckland Airport, you can get a HOP card from a shop called Take Home Convenience, it's $5 for a card and top it up with $6 (or the amount that your trip will cost, we'd suggest more, because this card is used for all public transport in Auckland)
*You can connect to the airport's free wifi to double check the times on the app, as well as use the app to navigate to the bus stop
*As you leave the terminal, turn left and look for the orange bus stop, called International Stop A (stop 2008), it's across the road from the Pullman Hotel.
*Check the board to see when the us arrives. The code for the bus is AIR and will go to Puhinui
*When you get on the bus, make sure to tap your Hop card and tap it again when you get off at Puhinui train station
*Go inside the station, where you'll have to tap your Hop card again
*Approach the platform with the train going to Britomart, the app will give you a few options, you could either go on the eastern or southern line...both will end up in Britomart :)
*When you arrive in Britomart (which is the transport hub of Auckland city), you'll go up the escalators and tap your Hop card again
*From here you have access to all the other bus routes, the ferries are close by or you can explore the city on foot.

A little trick with the HOP card that can save you money: You get 30 minutes transfer time. This means that after you tap off, you have 30 minutes to tap back on and continue your journey. This means that if you're fast, you'll only pay for one journey rather than two. Once the 30 minute time expires, when you tap back on again, you'll start a new journey and you'll need to pay again. It's also worth mentioning that AT are planning on introducing open payment so you can pay with a credit card or your phone (though you'll still need a HOP card if you want cheaper concession fares)

We were wondering if they’d ever allow us to tap on with phones or credit cards, would be so helpful to tourists (and to me those times that I misplace my hop card 😂)

Air New Zealand is pretty awesome when it comes to baggage damage. My wife had the same issue and they gave her a new luggage. Great video by the way we fly out of that airport at least once a year.

Wish I found this video before my last trip, It was hell getting from Auckland to Airport and the most stressed I’ve ever been on any holiday!
Originally I wanted hotel pickup bus, they couldn’t help me, then waited for a taxi and it didn’t turn up before I called another company, then first taxi turned up and wouldn’t leave us alone until they found out what other company I called, I almost had to dial 111 😪

Good on you for highlighting the public transport options to the airport. Taxi fares to any of the inner city suburbs would easily cost $60 and to the north shore can be up to $90 or more. Across the decades there has been endless talk about extending the rail to the airport. I don’t think many people are aware of this bus/ train option. Love your videos. All the way from Croatia…😊

At the same time you can also hop on the SkyDrive Airport bus for $18 from Intercity bus terminal from Sky tower to airport directly. First stop is domestic terminal and final stop international terminal. And then the SkyDrive bus brings you back to Sky tower Intercity bus terminal. Pretty straightforward.

    Hi. Missed you guys.
It's a stunning video showing ways to get to and from airport. Thanks.
It's so great to see how organised and clean your public transport is. Gee Wizz.
It also makes me sad as our country has a disgusting transport system for the most. Nothing like I have just witnessed.
My friend lives in Germany and I'm also constantly amazed at their transport system.

Worth noting that the bag damage has nothing to do with Air NZ, but rather the baggage handlers contracted to the airports 😊

    • @BeingBedingfield
      @BeingBedingfield  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

True, but luckily Air NZ have their own baggage handlers at Auckland Airport, so we just went to their office and they sorted it out so quickly.
