  • I just got this apartment and if you are watching this video, you may be wondering what can you get for $167 dollars per month here in Dominican republic and also what is the experience like of trying to find an apartment.

Obviously First: you can get an apartment that cost $5,000 per month here in Dominican republic, but that all depend son your budget and what you care about .
    What does $167 get me
Well in Peso that’s about $9000
And it gets me a moderately size apartment with 2 bedroom and 1 bathroom
Without a single piece of furniture
IN the US usually when you get an apartment:
You get a Stove, fridge and the basic kitchen stuff
    Here I got absolutely nothing.
So all the things I had to go ahead and bring over from Puerto Rico
    Finding an apartment
So theirs no zillow per say but Facebook marketplace, remax and also word of mouth are the primary ways
Here what I don’t like though, a lot of listing are outdated
And the agents finding you apartment, list for above what the landlord wants just so they could get a larger fee upfront
    Here you have to pay:
The agent, the lawyer and the deposit
So it can add to 2-3 months’ worth of rent, aand you only get 1 month deposit in reality
So you have to bbe willing to negotiate
    For example:
I found a property where the landlord wanted 15k
But they listed 20k in hopes to get a bigger commission
So you have to be careful
Personally, How Long will I stay here
As long I can fit, I guess and the plans make sense
Personally, with a studio and a bedroom its more than enough
I could live in the city, but it would be more expensive and far from everyone I know and care about
    Ps.
I do have parking for the car
    Laundry area

Fantastic deal. That's almost free for us who live in the United States, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, etc, lol. My biggest concern with the DR is the bad electric infrastructure and water, they go out often without notice.
But... that's why most people spend time outside. Still annoying though, no warning, power/water can go at anytime.

Actually you can probably get one cheaper in Santo Domingo. You can actually find a house in some areas for that price. I have a 3/2 apartment in Santo Domingo it was 9000 but they raised the rent to 10,000 pesos this year. Well, it's still under $200usd. And the area has a lot of new construction going on with the average new apartment still going for under 12,000 and it's walking distance to restaurants shopping, clubs, bars and the metro

speak spanish and convert the amount from pesos into USD and think about when you get a taxi in the US in your town/city. How much does it cost to go across the city and a couple of blocks, etc. Then convert that into pesos and you got a semi-similar way of understanding the going rate in DR.

    • @user-os4lm1mz8v
      @user-os4lm1mz8v 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yeah because the Dominicans think that everybody in the US are millionaires, so they run to the states to become millionaires not knowing that if you live in a major city you have $10,000 in bills every month. And all the millionaires are running to Dominican Republic and driving all the real estate prices up, because $3000/mth for a villa is a steal to them because they are used to paying $4500+/mth for a 1 bedroom flat in Manhattan. So the grass is greener for both sides. Buy they don't know that it takes a lot of shit to fertilize that grass

Put the record option on the app when taking an Uber, if they accept then later try to re-negotiate the price the conversation is recorded. Uber will reimburse you. But that does not stop them from driving around in circles or going the wrong direction so be advised to have your own GPS around on your phone and follow your GPS while they're driving so they don't go in the wrong direction on purpose just to get more money out of you. The taxis are going to cheat you once you speak English. use indriver in DR it's usually cheaper than Uber or taxi

I don't know, dudes. I think crypto and all these ICOs are just a bubble. Well, crypto is good for transfers and so on, but I don't engage in trading and staking either. It's too risky. My friend recently lost $5000 there. I invest crypto in real businesses like cannafarm ltd. I've never had any problems with it, unlike platforms like Binance or others. I'm just speaking from personal experience that it's better not to engage in market manipulation and rely on proven things.
