- Phillip and Jess are certainly part of the family. This energetic young couple have been big supporters of John X Safaris for years and we were delighted to host them back for another unforgettable safari. They rose to the challenge of bow hunting on foot as well as harvesting some great animals with a rifle.
Very few hunters actually commit to bow hunting a Cape Buffalo on foot, but Phillip held his nerve after many failed stalks over multiple days to make a perfect heart shot that saw the bull go down with a single arrow! Jess not to be outdone harvested a magnificent old Zebra stallion on foot in the thick brush making a great shot.
This safari took us through the thick brush on Woodlands after Buffalo to the deep canyons along the Great Kei River to harvest a monster Kudu and Zebra then back to the coast after Nyala and Giraffe.
PH Stix and Tracker MK together with Phillip and Jessica enjoyed what the East Cape had to offer on a 10 day safari of epic proportions.

A TRUE picture-book buffalo hunt in all respects......top guide, top shot placement, top hunter roller-coaster emotions....and top cinematography!! 🐃
Whoever does the videography on this and a few others, oh my gosh hats off to you. I love watching these movies, and it is as if I am there myself, even the small things insignificant to the hunt like spiders and spiderwebs or bugs. Are the wind in the trees or the clouds etc.. The hunt is self is absolutely awesome but the videography with all the little things in between the hunt like breakfast lunch supper break scenery around the campus just makes the whole video so fulfilling and wonderful. Hats off to the videographer, who has actually probably the toughest job of all what an awesome job!
What a pleasure to See the respectfull behavior towards the animals taken! Congrats for Client and PH!
I must apologize for being critical of long-range rifle shots. The incredibly close bow shots are a sample of great guiding and animal and terrain stalking technique and experience. Good job John X Safaris!
Love the videos
Wow!. What a great hunt. Cape Buffalo with a bow and a MONSTER kudu at the tribal lands. That was fun to watch.

Stix is your man. Expert guide and excellent venue. John X Safaris living up to its reputation as being the go to place for any Safari. Well done on a excellent video.

What was the set up on the Cape Buffalo bow hunt. Draw weight? Arrow weight?
See the bio for details👍
@ 20:50 the picture on the wall over her left shoulder, is that what I think it is? Lol!
What was the bow setup and arrow setup ?
Check the bio 👍👍
Really enjoy the vids, the ph is spot on but don't get the bow hunting TBH
It leaves too much to chance, yes the ph has a "stopper" rifle but it goes wrong when client's make a good shoulder shot with a .375 and all hell breaks out but the bow is not backed up with a bow!!
Hunting cape buffalo with a bow is stupid idea
whispering is very annoying
