I was so happy when I saw Fiona stand the first time . Her wobbly little legs . I knew then there was a strong chance . Cincinnati children’s hospital was a huge help . Thank you very much . I have a granddaughter who loves animals . I told her I’m going too turn her onto these videos . I told her I’ll make zoologist out of her . She a middle school student. Thanks again.

I think I've watched almost every video of Fiona the Phenomenon and I fell in love the very second I saw her... I've cried, laughed and had heartfelt moments where I just put both hands against my heart and wished like hell that I was one of her caretakers... i applaud you all and every single one of you are heros! 11/8/23...I never knew about Fiona n watched the 5 videos from her birth to finally being united with her parents. Bless the whole team, including Children's Hospital. It's truly amazing to see these Hip-Mer's in such a beautiful containment. Soooo glad that these videos have made mega $, so as to help Cincinnati Zoo continue to improve, educate their team & evermore care for all the creatures that is a healthy way for many of us would prefer to learn from vs being attacked at a actual site where ppl have been killed due to Hippos not appreciating the too close presence of humans. Bless everyone involved. 🙏

Glad Fiona is doing good. Timothy here in San Antonio must be bored since guest can't visit. The zoo is closed until the end of the month because of covid-19 precautions.

Question: I’ve been a horseback rider most of my life and have subsequently, owned many over the years. I saw you feed Timothy hay, but as far as ruminant feed, is it a loose alfalfa Chaff or more like mix/sweet feed with molasses, oats and cracked corn? Or is an extruded feed? I can see they like beet pulp as do horses!
Finally, how many kilos of hay do they eat daily?
We fell in love with hippos a little more when we discovered Fiona!!

I loved how Fiona would rest her mouth against her mother's cheek whenever she wasn't asking for food! All of God's creatures are such amazing miracles to behold!
During the video, Fiona put her lips on Bibi’s left cheek several times and almost have a contented look on her face. Is she showing affection to her mom? It seems so sweet when she does it, like she is giving her a kiss.

With schools closed and curious kids home it’s refreshing to be able to show them this and go through questions and take this opportunity to engage them to learn in a different way. Hi. My name is Christine and I have been following Fiona for a long time. I am an American who moved to Germany (for love). I work at a Bilingual school, and as a treat I will show an episode of Fiona to my English learning 5th grade students. They love watching Fiona. Something I always wondered, she has a scar on her hind quarter, I think, she has had it since she was very little. How did she get that? Was it from Bibi? Also, you or one of your collogues had mentioned that hippos can be aggressive once they get older so for safety you are no longer allowed to swim with Fiona. Can Fiona or Bibi get aggressive? They seem so loveable I couldn't think they would have an aggressive bone in their bodies, but I know they are wild animals. Thanks for reading. Love you guys.
FIONA is so friendly, and cute. She loves to go very close to the glass, so she can see all of the people, and they can get a good look at her. The keeper gave out a lot of important information about hippos. It is nice to see her grow up, and she looks so happy being with her mom.❤

I’ve absolutely fallen in love with her and have been so impressed with the dedication and love the zoo staff went through to help Fiona survive and now thrive. Henry??
Henry was euthanized in October of 2017 after suffering multiple health issues. There is a plaque in his honor. He was 36. Henry initially came to Cincinnati from the Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield MO. Bibi became pregnant soon after. They really were soul mates.

How crazy is our universe is. Fiona being born to early and fighting to survive. And her father ends up with the health issues and dies. I believe he gave some of his life for to live. Henry is part of Fiona now and will live for ever. Again thank you for the information.
