Every week, we'll each open a new Retro Pack mini-box, that's 4 packs, and use the cards inside to craft our own decks. That also means our decks will get stronger every week, from awkward strategies to custom-built powerhouses! The first duelist to take 5 rounds is the winner!

XD I'm buying these for my DM Era tournament.
The Episodes are brilliant😮😮😮
You guys are back finally
Even if its digital, i would love to see slipher slackers come back
I really like the out of duel thought segments in this video! it makes it feel more like a show than just a youtube video.
I blame this channel for getting me back into Yugioh and buying so many cards. Y'all make it so enjoyable to watch and see what's in the packs.
Same, here I am again brewing up a Red Dragon Archfiend Deck.
I don’t blame them, but I thank them. I dug out my starter decks Yugi/Kaiba/Joey/pegasus and ended up dueling my gf using the Kaiba and yugi decks. She beat me! Lmao
True that, went from owning no cards to building my 6th deck now 😂
I just downloaded Tag Force instead , saved myself a lot of money for the same serotonin boost! 😌
I had cards in 2004 and lost everything when I moved out of my home. Bought a starter deck in 2014 with the first pendulum monsters and a few booster packs but didn't understand anything about the new mechanics so they just sat in a drawer until last year when they announced the 25th anniversary legendary collection. Now I have literally tins upon tins of cards, 24 decks and a binder for all my high rarities! Shit is addictive! 😂
Instant hit of nostalgia with that glorious GBA tune going
@@dalazo Eternal Duelist Soul?
@@lucasbarbosa955 And Stairway to the Destined Duel
Brought back some good memories.
@@lucasbarbosa955 No for me it would be the "World Wide edition; Stairway to the destined duel". Great game, played for hours and hours whilst being on family vacations.
@@lucasbarbosa955yes it is
I love old school yu-gi-oh the most. Especially the show. I’ll definitely be watching the series. I know the basics and that’s about it. But was able to follow along for the most part. Gatta say my favorite parts is the pack pulling 😂. It’s very addicting 🙃
You don't get this back and forth in modern yugioh anymore! I love it so much
I tried to watch worlds and got so bored 😂
@@superbadisfunnyimagine my excitement when I tuned in recently for my first tournament in a decade to see the one where the guy won by looping exodia searchers. Was novel the first couple times but by the end I was like damn this is boring as shit.
Exactly!
@@fromryuk7785 To be fair that wasn't so far off the highest levels of play back in the day. There were sweet spots but every set had to be fixed or adjusted to stop that stuff. Konami just needs to ban more cards is all.
You do, just not at high level play when the banlist isn't doing its job.
So this is basically a duelist kingdom pack. That said, this power level is pretty close to the power level of the game I enjoyed the most. Face down defense actually matters, you play up to about 5 cards per turn and the back and forth is pretty simple. Moments like monster reborn being sent from deck to grave being super impactful just made the game so much better
Amazoness Chain Master is one of my favorite cards. Used to run it in almost every deck I had back in the day
Back when overcommitting to a turn cost you big time. Resources had to be conserved in order to survive the hard negates and Blue-Eyes White Dragon required actual skill to summon at just the right time so it wouldn't die to a Trap Hole.
I just love these old retro decks. There is a lot of tension between each turn which is what I miss about Yu-Gi-Oh. Keep up the great videos 👍🏻
Paul was so afraid of Gravekeepers servant he played 4 mst XD
The GBA games music in the background is a very nice touch.
Im so glad you guys brought back a retro series. I 100% understand why you guys stopped slifer slackers but this is the type of content i love so im very happy y'all are back too some type of active retro series. Much love guys
Love seeing the game being played the way it's supposed to be.
What does that mean?
@impetuousharp20 new yu-gi-oh is over the top while classic is epic and awesome and the way to play. Now there's hand traps and game wrecking 1 turn summon all 3k atk monsters decks and it's annoying
that's why that's the GOAT!
I mean, every card game has power creep, you either adapt by improving your decks and playstyles, or just stick to older formats.
FYI, Paul explained in a stream that Slifer Slackers went away temporarily because him and Alec weren’t very fond of the format so they were trying to figure out something new that was also fun but less restrictive. Or at least that was pretty much the gist of his statement
I think their mistake was ditching the decks and collections they already had from Rare Hunters and starting from scratch.
Agreed! What I wanted was to continue the lore. Like rare hunters that never found out Marick was defeated so they just kept moving on to different formats thinking they were helping Marick 🤣
@@zerro6903 I like that, that’d be a very entertaining twist
Ah yes that nostalgic era before archetypes were hugely popular, classic Yu-Gi-Oh was so simplified
RIP Slifer Slackers
They got expelled. Never saw them in class so it was only a matter of time really.
@@RaReVaporynah bruh, they got sent to the stars by the supreme king
Gone for a reason
🤫
nah u cant be serious
I love this era when you had to create your own combos and didn't just plus off of everything. Deckbuilding was harder when just starting, yeah, but once you got going you felt like *you* were doing something instead of just the engine and the duel ends by turn 3.
These gameplay series you guys make are always amazing, this video had my jaw on the floor a few times. Such fun gameplay and great nostalgia feels all around. Every time I see Toon World pop up I'm rooting for it even if it never will see the light of day lol.
Episode 1 and already pulled more Polymerization's than the whole Slifer Slacker series lol
Love seeing the old cards get play, can't wait for the next one!
RIP Slifer Slackers
But I'm just happy to see the boys back with some good old fashioned dueling
I dont play yugioh, but i used to and cards like these were all i had to play with.Takes me back to buying the yugi starter deck at my small town's gas station.
Very fun! Excited to see what you lads do. You guys are my favourite YuGiOh channel of all time.
Hooked. I gotta see this through now.
Yo it’s Caliiiii. Fondly remembering your salamangreat videos helping me perfect my deck back in the day. Much love
Glad to see another player out there from Retro YGO that likes Gravekeeper's Servant as much as me.
Whenever I played the 2006 game I made sure to have at least 3 in my deck; decked out the AI many times over that way.
boy this brings back memories. this is when i was big into yugioh. i had all the 1st editions, wish i had kept them all, but they do have good homes now. :D I was never into toon world, but you have so many of them, it could be fun to play. I was all about DM and BEWD. :D
This was excellent. So glad to see another series starting. Some of my favorite content!
Can't wait to see more of this series, I love the original yugioh art so much
This video was amazing. This set is perfect for this type of sealed play. I really enjoyed the little bits of commentary between matches also. Looking forward to the next video!
This is cool, I thought a lot of yu gi oh was just 1- 2 turn games but this feels like an actual back and forth.
This is exactly how I remember playing Yu-Gi-Oh with my friends when I was younger. This was a huge dose of nostalgia.
i LOVE this format for card games, makes me invested in the decks much more
As an OG Yu-Gi-Oh player I know this series about to slaaaaap!
Love these little recaps after each duel, keep them coming! Can't wait for the next episode
I was hoping you'd do a draft series for this! These retro draft series have always been my favourite series!
Retro yugioh looks so much fun, especially when its done like this, though it could just be nostalgia playground card gamers, scratching the hell out of your sleeveless vintage on concrete.
Great start of the series. I'll definitely be following this. You guys are awesome!
This is already my favorite series of u guys 🔥i grew up on the old school cards cant wait for more episodes!
“I love old school yugioh because no negates, no hand traps and no special summons.”
Old school yugioh:
Man the Eternal Duelist Soul OST just brought back some good ass memories. I played this game so much. Excited to see where this series goes! Give Dark Duel Stories OST some playtime too, that had some bangers
I’m happy you guys are dueling again and making videos.
6:45 how many likes to run gate guardian
the production on this was great. look forward to watching more episodes
The opening is the most 80s Vaporwave thing I've ever seen. I love it.
This channel got me back into Yu-Gi-Oh and has taught me and my daughter how to play the game😂 thanks guys lookin fwd to this series
6 and a half min in! Lmao why does Alec always kill it with the pulls in these series? Paul, your removal capabilities are absolutely unnerving but he’s got the Dark Magician and the Summoned Skull. Love that you guys do these! Thank you guys!
I love the retro gbc ost. Brought me back to when I would play eternal duelist soul everyday all day lol
The perfect video to wrap up the last bit of my shift with! This is gonna be fantastic series!
Love the new series and love the confessionals between the duels! Makes a great addition!
Man, I would love to open one of those boxes, my childhood nostalgia
I love this! I've opened like 8 boxes of these so far and its been sooooo much fun!
Eternal Duelist Soul music in the intro, nice. One of my favorite Yugioh games.
This could be an amazing series if DB and DR also got reprints. Massive sets.
Could even go by Retro Pack 2 and Retro Pack 3, respectively. Great cards in those old sets, and strong nostalgia since they were high school for me.
So happy to see you guys upload this video and made it a series I love to see it
This is amazing this took me back to being a kid
Really looking forward to the rest of this series.
Glad to see the classic yugioh gameplay
The nostalgia is strong
I can already hear a tournament announcer going "Duelists welcome to RETRO RRRRRUMMMMBBBBLE!!!!!!!" 😂
Yall are so chill for yuguoh content it's great
Please keep this series going
So hype for this series!
“Do you wanna know how long I have been waiting for this”
The prediction came true in that last duel! I feel like Paul will have a much better shot in the upcoming duels if Gravekeeper's Servant disappears. Thanks for bringing back a draft series and good luck to both of y'all!
Let's see (I'm already sold on the concept :D ) RIP Slifer Slackers, you'll be missed tho
The background music from eternal duelist soul 🔥🔥
Bro got the whole Pegasus deck in two boxes
Good choice for the music, one of my favorite games for the gba
Love the gameboy soundtrack in the backround. Nostalgic!
Oh hell yeah! I can’t wait to pick up some of these boxes to play with friends. This’ll make for a good weekend! Thank you! 🎉
This is so refreshing to see YGO actually being played. The power creep really changed this game and this older format is getting to the point where it's almost objectively better.
@@user-zx8tv3ug5j I disagree and think old yugioh is rather boring and slow while old yugioh has its charms i think it’s far too slow and far too annoying
@@Trenton2000 to each their own. Personally i prefer the slow aspect if it means I actually get to play the game.
Love this video man. Made me want to play Yugioh again :D This was the cards I had when I was a kid and I loved the ritual deck more than anyone else 😂 manju and senju of the thousand hands THE BEST !!!
Funny how devastating gravekeepers servant was to Paul's deck and if for whatever reason it was being used against tearlaments its such a plus. How times change lol
The pack crack addict in me and old school yugioh nostalgia lover in me both love this series! RIP to slifer slackers but excited to see this one! The packs lookin pretty sick! Mostly stopped playing yugioh a while ago, but its always such a joy to watch you guys doing new series and playing! Great job guys, keep up the great work 😊
welcome back to the best Yugitube channel on the platform! Love these deck construction duels
really fun duels!!!
LETS GOOOOO!!!! Boost that algorithm for a hype new series! Editing on this video is awesome too!
this is definitely a good replacement for slifer slackers. love this type of old school in-person duel content.
I love this series❤❤
We all know this is all we want to see only classic Yu-Gi-Oh
A tear came down my eye as I saw this upload, never clicked so fast on a video.
This was so fun to watch! I've seen series pack battles done before, but I had completely forgotten about them. It makes me want to do it too! (Even though I don't play YuGiOh lol.)
I put some feelers out in one of my discord communities to see if anyone would be interested in trying to do something like this with Flesh and Blood, which is my main TCG! It would be a bit more difficult and different due to the more rigid restrictions that classes impose (we may have to start with 6 packs instead of three or four), but I think it could still be fun!
big fan of the channel bro . watching you guys brought back a lot of memories and also got me back to playing master duel
Really liked this episode! Keep up the series! Nostalgia all the way 😂
20:02 RIP Paul's happiness
Great start! Relinquished is one of my favorite cards 😁
This is aweseome :) Lookin forward to this series. Those Old YugiohCards had great artwork and style.
I absolutely loved this video. Watching you guys play classic YuGiOh cards from my childhood. I like the theme too. Good idea for a video series.
Watching this channel gave me an unrealistic expectation for how good Yu-Gi-Oh content on TH-cam would be lol
these retro packs take me back to a much simpler time back in the schoolyard
Banlist as prizes. Loser gets to ban one card as a consolation, winner gets to move one card to the adjacent list. 5 matches straight locks in a ban.
30 seconds into the video and I'm already so fricking into this. Let's, as they say, fuggin GOOOOOOOO
This tickled a deep part of me that I'm hesitant to mention in polite company.
Damn, I miss the old days: no bills, new episodes of the OG anime, and duels with the homies every day.
Love this series. Maybe I’m just old lol but imo this is way more fun/entertaining then the new game is now
Idea to Retrain Man-Eater Bug as a Flip/Tuner with better effects:
_Emperor Man-Eater Bug_ (EARTH)
Level 4
Insect/Flip/Tuner/Effect
_FLIP: Target 1 card on the field; Destroy it, and if you do, apply the following effects for the rest of the duel (You can only apply following effects of “Emperor Man-Eater Bug “ once per duel.)_
_⚪️Flip Monsters you control gain ATK equal to their original DEF, and DEF equal to their original ATK._
_⚪️If a Flip monster you control Destroys an opponent’s card (by battle or card effect); You can Normal Set 1 Flip Monster from your hand or deck._
ATK/1050 DEF/1050
Thats so sick. However, I will say that the lingering effects should probably be once per duel. Setting 3 monsters from deck off of one destruction sounds broken
@@jmcbango
There, made the change, although I’m not sure if I needed to (I don’t hear anything about cards with similar lingering effects like “Time-Tearing Morganite” having the same stacking issues…🤔)
Loved it! Thank you guys!
Love a Retro duel, it’s always a good time! When i saur Amazoness Chain Master classified as a retro card, i thought, “really?” For some reason, I thought anything before Magician’s Force was old-old.
Great duels guys and can’t wait to see the next episode. Keep up the success on the channel
I like how the cards look exactly like the old cards. The new yugioh cards look cheap
1. Great idea for a series and great way to utilize the product to make BOTH an opening video AND a duel video.
2. I love that I already know what all of the cards you're opening do.
3. I wrote out a long response on the POD but closed the window before I posted it... I was essentially saying that people have been debating graphics vs gameplay since at least the 80's. The fact that the Pac-Man graphics sucked on the 2600 is one of the reasons for the video game crash of '83. Just because you didn't care about graphics or didn't hear your peers doing it either, when you were kids, doesn't mean the people in their 20's at the time weren't. I'm not blaming you for not knowing what gamers were saying or thinking back then, I didn't either, but I've talked to people and heard stories about them and if I didn't I'd probably think the same thing you did.
You guys have resurrected my yugioh love!!! Binge watching all your videos 🤣
Kuriboh is supposed to be creepy, I thought he was a cute little guy especially in early art
In the oldest artwork it's all black except for the hands, feet, and eyes(which are furrowed like it's frowning or staring). It also has clearly distinct claws but in a position where you can't tell if it's walking on all fours or just hunched over.
I wouldn't say it's creepy, but it's definitely a lot creepier than the current version where it's brown fur, got rid of the frown, and made the claws shorter/less distinct.
@@scragar Funily enough, in the manga, he's purple, with yellow hands/feet
And his manga card art is like someone cute, trying to be spooky, and failing.
@@scragar Looks even cuter to me in the original art.
I believe the card is wretched ghost of the attic. That depicts a more creepy form of him. A little more evil
@@kylesherlock3859 yeah even that version is still pretty freaking cute in my opinion
