I don't think I've ever seen a clip of James Labrie in recent years where his voice is consistently on pitch. Devin being just proved to me that Dream Theater deserves a new singer.

Petrucci still practices every day and so does Mike, Myung and Jordan to keep up with their younger selves.
Devin voice is fantastic but I love seeing Petrucci so happy to have another guitarist on stage and I genuinely think that if they got a second guitar player for touring, that it would make their live shows really special, because of things like the harmony he does with Tosin.
seeing Tosin do harmonies with Petrucci is pretty amazing, especially since Tosin was heavily inspired by Petrucci. It's like seeing your friend achieve one of their dreams

It's been James since the 90s and his throat injury. He can still do it in the studio, but live, he's just getting worse and worse. I feel for him, because it's really not his fault.
When they’re singing together James sings like the drunk guy singing at the top of his lungs with the actual singer. Shame too because James was absolutely killer during Images and Words tour. Dude could nail it.
It's always been LaBrie. As a singer myself, I feel for him, in fact so much that he's the reason I haven't seen DT live. I suffer everytime I hear him sing live, it's truly painful for me. I wish they'd get a singer that's on par with the rest of the band. James has had an awesome run of studio work, and his legacy is huge already. I wish he stepped down and let somebody else do it for however (hopefully VERY) long the band can last
Watching Tosin and John doing harmonies together at the end really enjoying themselves was awesome. Was like watching two kids jamming and just having fun. A reminder of how it often begins for many musicians. Loved it.
Not only am I a huge fan of these 3 artists, but this song in particular means SO much to me. If I was there in the audience during this I would 100% be crying my eyes out at this performance
If you want to hear Michael Akerdfelt from Opeth, James Labrei, and Devin Townsend all singing together in the same song I recommend Day 8 School by Ayreon on The Human Equation. I’ve always thought James and Devin sound good together 👍
This was an amazing watch! I'm at the end of my life (been told by docs), and this song is one I want played at my funeral! To see it performed with Devin has been a dream come true, so thank you so much!

He’s not only very gifted at any register, but he’s got that expressive, bluesy tone (just like Jorn Lande) which, I think, would elevate Dream Theater’s already amazing music. Just imagine a ballad like this sung by him. My argument? Symphony X’s “Communion and the Oracle”, “The Accolade”, etc. I know James has been a vital part of DT since he started. They wanted a Geoff Tate kind of winger. However, this is not Majesty anymore. This DT is not te Images & Words one. Not even the DT found on Scenes From a Memory. Perhaps a new singer would give it a much needed innovation.

I was at this show. This was an incredibly emotional moment, and I can't stop going back and watching these performances. Devy singing Victoria's parts just gives me chills over and over again.

So awesome hearing Tosin and Devin on this. Devins voice fits so well and I love that rasp he has. Also, I love how natural Mangini sounds and looks here. His kit looks a lot simpler than in past years and he looks like he's just having fun and feeling it.

Saw them play this in Oshkosh. But instead of diving singing it normally he did the most goosebump inducing scream. I really wish I had recorded it....

I was at the last show of this tour (this past week in Phoenix) and while I think James still has a few good albums in him, they'd do so much better if they brought Devin in to sing on tour.
I feel a little sorry for LaBrie, honestly. He's had a rough go, with his vocal cord damage when he was younger, and the difficulty of the DT songs in general. I'm not saying people are wrong to criticise his performance per se, but it must be rough to see someone else sing with your band and do it the way you used to be able to. If I were him, I would like to believe I'd bow out gracefully, but I don't know if I could. People should cut the guy some slack. Devin is still a living legend, with all that said.
I saw this show in Spokane, Washington. We drove from Portland, Oregon. I really hope this performance gets an official mix and release. I was bawling by the end of it.

Dave Gilmour probably wishes he could play keyboards like the legendary Mike Keneally. Or bass, drums or even guitar for that matter! MK is a virtuosic multi-instrumentalist. It's crazy how few people here realize who he is. He's probably the best musician on stage.

But these last tours especially, is in my opinion taking away so much of the Dream Theater concert experience as a whole that it becomes much less enjoyable, since the rest of the band still perfom at such a high level consistently. And Dream Theater being one of my favorite bands of all time, it does hurt. I saw them on a few legs on the 2022 european tour and it was really hit or miss from song to song. I have no reason to doubt that he is a kind person, but I don't pay money for tickets to hear kindness.
Funny... LaBrie joined DT around early 1991; Townsend sent demos around in '93; getting picked up by Vai at the time. Just missed by a couple years... I can't even fathom how great they would have been with DT at the front of the stage. They were good enough with LaBrie but he always had that early 80's voice that was already on the way out when they hired him. Oh well. 🤷

Being on a tour is a tiring job especially for a vocalist. Considering his age and everything around it. He must be tired or must not be keeping well on that day. I've seen Dream Theater live and they sound better than a Record.
