Watch him get a slice and slowly spiral down a rabbit hole of buying driver after driver to fill this hole in your heart where you can’t do anything because you have such a slice. Eventually you get so sick of the slice that you stop using a driver at all and you lose all your games because of this
I LOVE how good and motivational Rick is to children/younger golfers, he’s kind, helpful, positive, friendly, and just an overall good example for the younger golfers to follow the lead of, if everybody in the world was like Mr. Shiels it would be a much better place! Love you Rick!
You all should play me im 12 and everybody I've ever met has said i have a tv golf swing. I'm not new to golf either I've been playing since I was 2 just to let u know

Eric Hall it is in golf at a really young age, because golf is expensive and someone could be great when they’re 7 but terrible when they’re 12 when they grow. I understand it once a kid is 10 or 11

I hope the young man stays with golf he is going to have an amazing career on Tour. I hope you can keep in contact with him. You will be an amazing mentor for him.
Hey Rick. About one year ago i started watching your videos on TH-cam. About 2 months ago i finally experienced some positive development in my swing path by watching one of your videos. My handicap was 26.4 when the summer started. The past 2 months i have been making some unreal changes to my golf. I placed 1 in 2 stableford competitions and a few other podiums have been in there as well. Today i played my best golf so far. I wanted to write this as a message but since that is not a option i have to do it like this. I just really wanted to say thank you. My handicap is 18,7 today and i will go even lower at midnight when the system calculates the scorecard from today in the system. The 8 iron chip (putter) outside the green was a breakthrough for me and has changed my number dramatically. Thank you. Thank you so much. Love from Iceland.
“Best quotes!” “All square my little friend” “ are you better than your dad” “of course! He’s playing off 20” “I’ll hit my fwee wood” “By 1000 shots, yeah” “Kind of” “Manchester?” “Yeahhhh” “Am i putting a marker on it?” “Uh yeah” “Yeah sure” “Yeah, dead straight!” “I have a really good chance of beating you” “Rickie folwer....(after hitting driver off the deck)” “San Diego” “Don’t say that” “Yeah” “And then that happens” “Uh yeah you can” “It hit your marker!” “You can hole it” “Spiders will crawl on your face at nightime” “See?” “Im just gonna go” “Told jya” “Im pretty good at downhill puts no offense” “You weren’t doing too good a job” “Do you find golf easy” “kind of” “Don’t look rick” “Uh oh” “I can easily beat him” I love this kid
Well that’s nothing to be excited about. If ur dads handicap is over 19 and he’s been playing for 30+ years maybe u should get him some lessons. I’m 13 and my handicap is 7 and I still think that’s not good so I think lessons would help no joke
Leo's drive with your driver is one of the most impressive shots ive seen this year. He has such a feel for the game that he can pick up a club thats bigger than he is and put the same exact shot on it that he would wifh his own. So many adults would slice it into the woods the first 20 shots with a different driver even if it was the exact same specs. There's zero excuses and even less gimme's when playing with that kid!
We going into this video: This will brighten my day Me realizing I would easily get beat by a 7 year old: Thats enough youtube for today, time to give up golf
Love how Leo chooses his clubs and distances. Learning to feel golf not just play golf. Bright future ahead and lots of fun and soon serious golf. We need more young golfers like this.
Kid's honesty is amazing. The downhill putt where Leo says you don't need to say you're bad at downhill putts. Then you hit it an miss and Leo says "then that happens". Amazing haha
What separates you Rick from other golf TH-camrs is that you are always having fun out there in your videos. You've helped me tremendously with my swing btw.
Great video, can’t wait to see Leo as a pro in 15 years representing England and winning opens. Well done Rick, we need people like you to support young talented kids, helping them be the future of the sport.
What an awesome little chap. I really hope his dad continues on the path of just letting him enjoy the game, I’ve seen too many promising young players give up because of pushy parents and coaches. Great video, great job Leo!
I haven't played golf in 5 years but have always loved the game. I've been sitting on the couch recovering from knee surgery and found your videos and instantly subscribed. I dont know how good of a golfer you actually are, and it doesn't matter because your personality and attitude are amazing and infectious. Much love from TX, USA. Keep doing what your doing brother
99% of high handicappers need to leave their driver and woods at home. This just proves that just being straight and in the short grass is good enough to break 100 every time....even if you hit it 150 at most every time. I had this proven to me long ago when I played with a couple of 80 year old dudes, they were the same way...150 yard drives but were always straight and always playing from the short grass...they had no problem breaking 90
Perry Flagg. I never said to not work on it, that’s what range time is for. I’m talking if you want to shoot low scores, or at least your best scores, you keep the clubs you can’t hit well in the bag. Just because there are “20” different clubs you could use doesn’t mean you should use them all.
You're a really really good guy Rick, absolutely stand up - your videos are pulling me more and more into the game. Keep it up. You're an actual legend.
This kid has it all. Getting to the top of everything takes much more than talent. He's got charisma, humility, sense of humor, and talent. Best of luck, enjoyed this.
Subscribed for the headcover to the face! Class act Rick so awesome truly enjoying it out there, and Leo is going to be a force in the years to come if he keeps enjoying the game like he does here he's got a great foundation - sheers to his pops as well for letting him go out and have fun. Just wow all around.
Lee Davies considering the average golfer shoots around mid 90’s to 100, and the kid is a 19 handicap, if buddy is saying the kid might just barely edge him out in match play, the. It’s safe to assume buddy is a 16-22 handicap which is well above average
For regular and serious golfers sure, but not the total average. Because of the amount of golfers that only get out a few times a year or maybe only once or twice, they shoot in the 100’s and 110’s and there’s a lot more of them so that brings the average up a whole lot
Lee Davies that’s brilliant if that’s your mindset mate and I’m sure you’ll only improve thinking like that, but there’s a lot of people who play golf for the social side or have just started playing and will be trying to get down to the level your saying your at. Let’s not try to discourage everyone from playing the sport shall we, as if you do then the mid to high handicappers will never get it down will they
Lee Davies why is that? I still had a ton of fun playing with buddies and in my league when I was a 32-34 handicapper coming from only getting out once a year. If you don’t take it seriously, it’s still a ton of fun, and that allowed me to keep at it and after getting out more and more get down to a 13 handicap in only a year and now I’m an 8. But even if I was still shooting 98-108 I’d still be having a blast with the boys
I don't even play golf, but it is great to see a young person strife for mastering a sport. Kudos for his dad - the lesson that hard work yields great results even outside of school is super important!
Rick, this is exceptional! Leo is a phenom and I’m sure we will see him on tour in the next decade. You, are indeed a legend. Well done! This is my favourite vídeo that I have ever seen. It’s also quite humbling, knowing that Leo could kick my arse on any given day. Absolutely brilliant! I thoroughly enjoyed this, thank you
What a lovely young lad and an excellent match-up! Full credit to Rick too - very encouraging and supportive. Leo's dad is a lucky guy and so am I, having a golf nut for a son who has just turned 12 and has been off 9 for a few months now (and has beaten me more times than I'd like to admit). Cheers and thanks from Sydney - Dave
One of the things that make golf so great is the fact you can play against each other and his handicap makes it fair. Look forward to seeing him on tour in 12-13 years time
Started playing sorta last year, this year serious, my mom can't out drive 160yrds, but she puts it where she wants it damn near every time and mops the floor with me overall
As a father, this brought me such thorough enjoyment to watch this little man's discipline on every shot. What a young stud! Thank you for all you do, but this one was special and fun to share with the boys
Great one Rick. You are absolutely top class! I have been a huge fan of yours for a few years now, definitely the best and most fair channel for club and ball reviews. But after this one Rick, I'm absolutely a fan for life! Thank you for doing this video. Top class man you are!
My mental game is weak enough... let alone getting taught a lesson by a 7 year old! Quality from the little man and nice touch for the channel from Rick 👌🏻

Suggestion: bring him on yearly and let us watch his game evolve👍
Agreed. Let's see how Leo develops ...... train him well obi one.....
Spoiler alert: he's only gonna get better

Would love to see that!

As soon as he hit driver off the deck, I knew he liked rickie
You couldn’t tell by the outfit?
And the orange shirt
Omg yes, both the shirt and hitting off the deck are dead give aways
"When I grow up I want to be as good at golf as a 7 year old" wasn't a sentence I'd expect to say in my life, but here I am
I was just talking to a friend about how I used to play golf with this 11 year old kid who would beat me. At 11 he would shoot 80 from the men's tees.
This sentence just hit me where it hurt because I relate to it so much 😂😂😂
@@Schmorgasblab bro there is a ten year on the golf team at my high school and he shoots low 80s from men’s thank god I still beat him

This wasn't good for my self esteem as a golfer.
I agree. I’ll either quit the game or I better get my butt out there and practice harder. Lol. Leigh, what’s your handicap?
As soon as I saw the driver of the deck I cried. I don’t think I can call myself a golfer anymore
i feel you 100%
Some times you just gotta admire people's talent I guess

The "pardon?" at 2:08 was adorable 🥺
Rick is genuinely having fun out there, that’s what separates him from most youtubers
Facts
he's also genuinely positive in every video. He's been a great channel to follow.
What a delightful, cheeky and well-mannered young man.
what a well mannered young man, credit to his parents
And spoiled but he seems like a good kid
Will Hockey 15 why is he spoiled
Eric Hall he’s seven and he has a Scotty Cameron. He probably has lessons every day. But he’s a good kid

“Show us your putter Leo.”
*vigorously waves it around*
Is there another way of waving your putter around? I think not!
Rick: golf tends to make young ppl mature faster
Leo: I’m going to throw this head cover at your face
