I just love these cars. I love that you have one with a 425cc engine and the pull start button. I remember those from when I was a kid growing up in Switzerland. I also love the loud click of the turn signal! lol Great car!
Good old genuine 2CV... and yes standard procédure is starting in 2nd gear with the centrifugal clutch unless in a climb or heavily loaded or in a hurry...
Good to know about the Flag. That's an easy fix.The car actually has two clutches. A normal clutch you use for shifting into any gear and a cyntrifical clutch. AT a stop you use the normal clutch and put it into 2nd gear and let the clutch out. With the engine at idle the car does not move. As you speed up the engine it starts to accelerate. You then use the normal clutch to move to 3rd and 4th. Coming to a stop you can leave it in gear and just step on the break. As soon as the engine gets to idle, there is no power to the wheels.Very unique. And I do start in 2nd as 1st at full rpm is only about 5 mph. and it is really show to shift - it has to wait for all those old moving parts to sync up.
The red light means that your battery is dying. You start the car in 1 gear... who said about starting in second? Never heard of it. Also, it has a 3 shift plus a drive shift or a 4th gear.
Clutching is wrong, a boxer engine like this has to build up high RPM. If you drive this way (switching gears this fast) you'll destroy its crankshaft bearing.
What is their to dislike about the 2CV? it always puts a smile on your face.

Less is more. Lovely car.
Thanks for the video. For any other car those noises would be considered terminal :)
I love your snail

Seriously? Starting a 2cv in second gear???
Yes it is quite usual since the car is fitted with a centrifugal clutch. It is a standard procedure under normal circumstances (flat ground).
👏👏👏👏👏👏❤
