If you weren’t wowed by darksiders 1’s combat but still enjoyed the game as a whole you should totally give darksiders 2 a shot. The combat in ds 2 is fantastic, it’s faster, with better difficulty balance. It also has more great puzzle design, plus some new much better prince of Persia esc platforming, and Diablo esc rpg mechanics. With the exception of maybe story I think ds2 is an phenomenal upgrade/evolution of the first game. Overall it’s the best game in the series imo.

Yeah now i feel great shitting in all the work that was put in those games. Of course i also include GoW on this since it is a DMC knockoff.
You want a knockoff of GoW? It would be a game where you control a god of war killing other greek gods while being angry and having the same type of gameplay and also being of worse quality. The moment you change IP, setting, gameplay, story, etc it stops being a "knockoff". Since you asked for the Tiamat Boss you actually can just melee her after the bombs are gone, her stun state is triggered by damage in general you don't have to use the crossblade, it's safe but slow whereas stick and moving with melee is risky but fast.
Silitha actually doesn't have that much health it's just she has a lot of poorly communicated phase transitions that make it seem like she has more health than she really does. Roughly one combo not even a full one will progress one phase and once that damage quota is met she seems to become immune until you hookshot her again, which is why she seems to have a lot of health but really doesn't. I've consistently been able to kill her quickly with only a small handful of basic attacks on multiple playthroughs but landing the more damaging stuff doesn't make the fight go any faster. Also for as intimidating as her attacks are you actually have more time than it appears to dodge so long as you don't succumb to deer in headlights syndrome and or dodge in the wrong direction, I.E. don't dodge directly backwards for her lunging attack dodge to the side. Think of her as less fo a boss and more of a timing/pattern puzzle, that simple change in mentality takes her from very hard to cakewalk.
I know you probably won't replay the game but you asked if you were doing anything wrong so I figured I'd at least try to answer that to the best of my ability, since I've played through the game multiple times.

Yeah, that happened to me too in Unleashed, the whole shock wave knocking you off the building. Best way to avoid that is to simply get away from it as it's preparing to jump instead of just continuing to whale on it. Then just jump over the incoming shockwave, get back in and continue attacking.
You technically can block the jump but not without enough shield meter as it'll just eat through the shield if that's the case. You'll also probably still get hit by his jumping while doing aerial combos, further solidifying that the best tactic against that move is just to simply back off.
Yes, Sonic Unleashed is one of my favorite games of all time and no, I don't intend to criticize how you play or feel about the game. I just wanted to point it out. I absolute love Chip for the reasons you say you hate him for as a character so I just disagree in that regard and that's great! Devil May Cry was a big genre defining game that got a lot of its own knockoffs, but it also led to unique games that simply took inspiration while creating something unique, like God of War, and then GoW in turn got it's own set of knock-offs, that in some sense, can still be traced back to DMC. Lords of Shadow is the best 3DVania i've played. Though i prefer LOS2 combat, but the story can go fuck itself. A 2010 game that holds up till this day in graphics and environment, while the story is one of the fell Castlevania games that they actually cared about it (Not that Castlevania needs to have a complex story, but the anime proved it can be good).
Dante's Inferno i would say is more similar to LOS than God of War. A holy warrior on a personal crusade to get back the women he loves while going through different realms to face Lucifer. The difference is that while Dante goes on a path of redemption, Gabriel goes on a path of darkness.
Unleashed depends on your mood to play. Day stages is the best part, fun as hell and everyone agrees, but the hub and night stages you'll have to be pacient, be invested to take some fun out of it. Story and characters are simple but it works, could be an Adventure 3 if they invested it more, but from what it is, it's not the best game but far from being the worse on the series

The main issue with Unleashed is that it came right after and during the time of 06 where they were allergic to just making a straight forward Sonic Game where you go from level to level. The Night and Day mechanics lend great to the Open World in theory but in practice they should've just done it like Generations. Where the Hub World other than some secrets and side stuff is just made to get into the missions. Sonic Unleashed gets a bad rap but I think it's good for what it is. The God of War sections also weren't bad and were genuinely enjoyable. The difficulty though was definitely spiked.
I think the reason for this is because 06 main Gripe with a lot of things to an extent is that they made it too slow. Everything in Sonic 06 is either a glitchy mess, slow and almost unplayable or both. So for Unleashed Day Sections they overcompensated massively by making you have to use Ultra Instinct for it. This does give the game a extremely high Devil May Cry like style and Gameplay Satisfaction to it, but unlike Devil May Cry even with a ton of practice it never gets to that point of just pure styling and clowning you can do with high levels of mastery. Which I think is kinda a shame, the Werehog sections are pretty good but I feel as though it relies a lot on the shallow open world and more punishing nature not pissing you off later.

@@pn2294 Well to be fair the Werehog sections are blatantly taking influence from God of War. Long winding attacks that are made to reach across the stage and hit other enemies. Quick time events that extend the combat further in a viscerally satisfying way. Long levels with some type of Puzzle element and making it almost an art of combat? That's God Of War for you, it's a different style than Devil May Cry but unfortunately falls in the same type of combat. Unleashed in the Day plays like Devil May Cry Sonic Version. Unleashed at Night plays like God Of War to a T but both styles are at strict odds with each other. That's what makes Unleashed both interesting and very disconnected and the Open World hurts it worse due to that.
It's kinda like having an RPG and a Shooter in the same Game together. The RPG prioritizes thinking and understanding of combat types and moves, which you'd think would work with a Shooter. The issue is that the Shooter is too snappy and aggressive, so much so that the RPG ends up being used for it's concepts not it's gameplay. It's both a theoretical Match made in Heaven and in Hell at the same time. Imagine playing like Apex Legends then it abruptly turns into Final Fantasy, or Halo but it becomes Kingdom Hearts the next minute. That's the kinda problem that Unleashed has as a Game. Taking two Genres of Game that share a lot of elements combining them but leaving them constantly at odds with each other, purely on the grounds of them sharing those elements as a reason their Fusion works.

I'm actually very surprised that you enjoyed the Werehog. Also not all Sonic 3D games are foresight based It's mostly just the boost formula style games (pretty much every game after generations). The adventure series was much less reaction based and more open. You should try those out sometime.

To think he sort of got what he asked for a couple of months after with Sonic Frontiers (without the werehog, but still with a combat system), although it's not really a GoW knockoff like Unleased was...
Like really isn't, it's a daytime Unleashed game (sort of) being put into an open zone (sort of) filled with bosses and enemies. It also has way more mature tone than its predecessors, thanks for a having a writer who actually likes and knows the series rather than just watching the cutscenes and not caring whatsoever, and has an actually post release support.
But it was refreshing to actually see a point of view of a non sonic fan which doesn't automatically hate to game just because it's the cool thing to do, very level headed, not to mention to Fandom which can create really good stuff, but most of the times is borderline insane (speaking of polarizing views). Very well done, I greatly appreciate that.
*For the record: never played Unleashed myself, never owned a console for it and it was never released for PC, I did play Generations, which is basically a more polished version of the daytime levels without the hub worlds, so I can sort of get thegl gripes you had with this part of the game.

Dante’s inferno hands down has the best counter system for any game I have ever played. I can’t tell you how satisfying it is when you time your block right and time slowed down after stunning your enemy and you start just fucking folks up. It looks bad ass too. I got so good at it that I would go entire levels without being touched.

I've never played any of the Devil May Cry series, but I have played Bayonetta, and in my experience, the combat in Bayonetta feels a lot like how the combat feels in God of War. As for the knockoffs shown here, I've not played any of them...well, I do play Sonic every now and then, but I'm playing the original 2D games, so, it's not quite the same, but the thing is, even in 3D, Sonic is still platforming on hyperspeed, so it's the same feel. Or maybe I'm just projecting, beans if I know, lolz

Darksiders is a joke on anything below apocalyptic. Add "get hit 2-3 times by any of these 40 enemies and you'll die" to the combat, those extra skills really become useful. You can beat the bosses without getting hit pretty easily still, but there's little room for error. You never have enough health to tank anything. I have no idea why the hardest difficulty is an entirely different beast compared to normal.
It's still easy, but it does become way more fun when the bosses themselves become puzzles in the way you have to actually fight them, and not just the puzzles they were intended to be.

I'm gonna put it out right here, the first Spyro games I played was the Legend trilogy I pretty much grew up with them and never touched the original games as I never had a PS1, I played them all from the first to the last, and I loved every second of it, sadly the only one I can play is the first since I owned all 3 on separate consoles, the first for PS2, the second on the Wii, and the third on the Xbox, and sadly my Wii and Xbox died while my PS2 still is healthy to do this day
Also, Darksiders 1 and 2 is among my favourites, biggest memories I have of both is being scared shitless of the platform section where you have to track the sandworm in 1 and slowly whittling away on the Scribe boss in 2 for like an hour and not knowing to use the portals to kill the boss quicker, ahhh. sweet childhood
