I have been there many times, the stadium is long overdue. With the cash inflow for the club the last couple of years they really should spend it on a new stadium.
@@vvegark but when you think of how many people that actually attend the matches in general, the stadium is not often full, so I don't think its necessary
no they don't need that far from, some of the games they dont even fill their 5.000 stadium now, it would just be a waste of money, and when b/g starts doing bad again many people will probaly leave, and then your stuck with a 10.000 capacity stadium with 2-3.000 going to the matches
Bodø is a City with like 60k inhabitants and is far North. It dont have big suburbs like the teams in the South. Oslo have about 1 million in metro area, but only Vålerenga and Stabæk in the league. And not many like Vålerenga except if you are from Oslo East. There was Lyn before which was for the West side. Oslo have never had a team that everyone can get behind. They need a Oslo FC team. Like Copenhagen did in the 90s. Viking have huge potential with about 300k in metro area. There are two teams locally in 1 divisjon (Sandnes and Bryne) but Sandnes becoming pro is Still relative New (though it happened mid 2000s I think went they were promoted to 1 division). And they had also 3 years in Eliteserien in 2010s. This year looks really good for promotion again. But people in Sandnes (Stavanger and Sandnes have grown together) have usually been Viking fans since that have been the only team for decades now that has been a big team. I used to play for Sandnes under 18s team before I "retired". And that was around the time they were really pushing to become a pro Club. But I am Still a Viking supporter since childhood. My step father used to take me to matches. So Sandnes needs to be in eliteserien for some years to grow their fanbase. They have a Beautiful New stadium though. But I think they average around 2k. Viking averages 10k. There is alot of support around Viking again as they are playing in europe also now the last two seasons. Today they will play Steaua Bucuresti. Though I miss the old stadium (despite the "New" one looks very Nice inside). Probably just my childhood memories from the old one. But I felt that was a really Nice stadium. 1 big stand, and the rest around was standing. I think it was 16 steps around the stadium almost connecting it to the Main stand which was big. Even though I hate Brann (from Bergen) they have a Great support and is one of the biggest clubs in Norway, Still as a 1 division Club.

Aspmyra has an amazing atmosphere. I will be sad to see it go if the plans to upgrade it go through
Why? The new stadium will be ten times better in that case.
