If you want to combat this all you would need to do is have a unique way of presenting your advertisement . . . not going to be super effective in the long run
I approached this same problem from a different angle. A chrome extension that automatically skipped these kind of in-videos ads. With the ad timings being identified and submitted by trusted users. Of course it wouldn't cover every video uploaded to TH-cam but would at least cover those from the biggest TH-camrs.
Interesting video! I'm curious how it ended up an average of 1.8 minutes of sponsored content per video on my channel. I always shoot for less than 10 seconds pre-roll and less than 60 seconds post-roll. I just manually averaged the length of the total sponsor message in my last five videos and got 64.2 seconds average. The way I write sponsorship reads hasn't changed in the last 30 videos so maybe it's picking up on some stuff in the video itself?
60 seconds = 1 minute, 10 seconds = 0.6 minutes So together we should expect under about 1.6 minutes. I would hazard a guess that due to the network classifying according to when the CC appears, there's some margin for error that drives the average up. I know that CC doesn't always sync accurately with video, so I'd attribute the result to youtube being a bit janky in some places, and to the fact that this neural network is not classifying the audio/video feeds.
Yes it might either be false positives or just frequent referrals to your other videos. Also, the typical 'like and subscribe' fodder is included so it might be that.
Yes I'd deff love to have this on firefox. After switching back and forth for years FF always stays cleaner longer. I noticed a way bigger improvement with the new FF quantum framework as well.

Im kinda doubtful. I have a feeling this just doesn't work properly all the time. Many youtubers (pewdiepie springs to mind) make joke adds in the middle of their vids and it's enjoyable to watch those. From my experience AI just isn't as silky smooth as people expect it to be... But this is a great idea I guess if you can get it to properly work I know some people who hate the shit out of those sponsor talks. Have fun
