That's a really cool detail that Lancia made the screws out of matching colored plastic instead of just leaving them metal or painting them. Thanks for walking us through your process of cloning them.
DANG, Eric. Those are fantastic lenses and fasteners. I'm always so impressed with the quality of parts you turn out. A lot of us would be stoked with "acceptable" results for otherwise impossible parts for our cars. To achieve perfection is sort of mind-blowing
The Beta Montecarlo is such a gorgeous car! I am italian and old enough to have seen one, so I know! The Giugiaro precursor to the Delorean. Love your channel Eric. Thanks to you I've already bought the 3m purple polish (boy there are so many types...) and the Novus polish. Perhaps they should sponsor you :D First "youtube maker" I come across that makes genuinely high quality parts without using prohibitively expensive machines.
I've done silicone casting using a similar 3D printed container. But mine screws together with M3 or M4 screws. That's clever using magnets to hold the pieces together! 👍
On the European Ford Focus mk1 is the front indicator screwed in the bumper with a similar screw. BUT that screw has a torx pattern 😬 Probably very good when the car was manufactured, but a torture when u need to change bulb after 3 years. That torx pattern had many many breaking guides...
Great work Eric, I would have been a little lost as to how to make that mold. The finish looks great. Have you ever managed to recreate a lens which has more than one colour? That would be a great project to perfect! 👍
Very interesting to see how you made the covers and even the screws! Every store I contacted for epoxyresin told me I need to coat them in a special 2k clear paint in order to survive moisture and UV. Did you paint every cover and screw? Or is there an alternative?
I'm almost wondering if one of those types of reusable spray paint cans (or air brush) would be good for spreading that release agent. Or do you think you get good coverage with a brush? I just think that you run the risk of it not being uniform?
Great Video, how long do you degass your silicone for? I have a vacuum chamber but typically only degass for a minute or so after it falls. Does it do a better job if you do it longer?
Like the gas as long as the silicone needs to be degassed until there aren't no more bubbles coming out of the silicone typically 10 to 20 minutes depending upon the volume
Great video as always dude. You should make a ton of different sizes of pour sprues and make a mold of em so you can quickly cast any up anytime you need em and not have to worry about cure inhibition with UV resin. Could also just be nice to have so you can pour extra resin you may have mixed so it doesn't go to waste.
Oh, those are also used on the Fiat 126, an in effect the Danish Mini-El as it uses Fiat 126 lamps (EV from the late 80s) that I own two of - Interesting to see it used on Lancia as well.

😀🤘
Magnificent. The level the Italians went to to make the light look über cool has been superbly replicated.
Sir, you are among the most creative manufacturing process engineers ever.
Wow Eric, stellar project and great results. Recreating custom fasteners like this is a great use-case for silicone molds and casting PU. 👏👍
Thanks

Once again, I wish I had your knowledge and talents! Amazing job and another amazing video!

Lovely work, and well filmed - thank you for sharing!

Incredible!!!
Very, very nice work. You make it look so easy (I know it isn't). Thank you.

Killer work man!!!
Great video. You make it look easy. Mahalo for sharing! ❤
Amazing work Eric! One question: What type of super glue do you use? I'm going crazy trying to find the right one for that kind of job

these can still be had for little coin, they are used on Piaggio Ape's.
Are you able to get the resin out of the syringes or are those considered consumables?
No single use, they are reusable
What material did you recommend for casting small car parts which needed to be a little bit malleable?
That parts will be used in interior car!
super cool
Are you selling these? They are also used in early Testarossa’s and I need some
Cool looking, complicated, sun destroyable, fasteners for vital parts of the vehicle? Sounds Italian to me :D
So cool , job
Amazing. What is the release agent?
Naptha + petroleum jelly, iirc
Correct
what? first the lenses and then the screws? wow
I feel like ordering a few just to see what it takes to mess one up compared to a steel screw 😂
"be sure to pour from one position"
*immediately pours across about half the available space*
You can move your pour position along with the puddle, as long as the stream hits the puddle instead of the part it works as “one position”
Correct
Молодцом!

Why would you advertise for PCBWay when your client can have his parts manufactured cheaper there?
For the money, of course
